Hello North Metro Church,

Spring is one of my favorite times of year, and not just because of the weather. There's something about this season that feels like an invitation. New beginnings, fresh starts, and for many of us, a renewed sense that we're exactly where we're supposed to be.

If you're new to NMC, whether you just showed up for the first time or you've been visiting for a few weeks and still feel like you're finding your footing, I want you to know something: you belong here. Not just as a guest, but as part of this family. And I don't say that as a formality. I mean it.

One of the best next steps you can take is joining us for Welcome Home. It's a gathering specifically for people who are newer to NMC or have been attending for a while but haven't quite found their way in past Sunday morning yet. It's a chance to get to know the heartbeat of this church, meet some great people, and figure out what the next step might look like for you personally. No pressure, no commitment required — just a conversation.

The rest of this newsletter is packed with dates, events, and opportunities to jump in, and I hope something catches your eye. But if I had to point you to one thing, it would be Welcome Home. That's where many people go from feeling like a visitor to feeling like they've found their people.

Re:generation Highlight Story

Hi, my name is Chris. I have a new life in Christ, and I’m recovering from self-protection and pride.

I want to share my bottom line up front: The longest distance in my struggle has been between my head and my heart.

Before my recovery journey in Christ began, I relied on myself — “I’ve got this” was my motto, which was driven by pride, control, and a critical spirit. There were events in my younger days that drove my motivations. Early on in life, I got picked on for size, shape, being poor, or not being smart enough. My response was “I’ll show you.” I began to protect, not only myself, but also others who were being treated unkindly. I learned to get in the face of confrontation, and I took on the “bullies.” I decided I wasn’t going to be poor; I was going to work tirelessly to be successful. I had a plan, and it was going to work -- Military Career, Corporate America, Civil Servant. My identity was in my work, position, and salary. From the outside, our family was often thought of as an ideal family with a model marriage. Through all the ups and downs, rarely did I go to God seeking guidance and direction even during my most troubling of times….because I had a plan.

I grew up in church, was comfortable in my faith, and served in many different ways for over 35 years. I professed Christ as my Lord and Savior, was christened as an infant, and baptized via immersion as an adult, and yet, something didn’t feel right. Something was missing. God was working on me and in a very profound way. When I had a significant health issue in August 2022, I called on God with these words, “What do you want me to learn from this, and how do you want me to share what I learn?” I prayed this every day for well over two years. I listened intently for His voice. The whisper came, “What is holding you back from giving me everything?”

It's interesting how God got me to Re:generation. He started before I even knew I needed it. My wife and daughter went through Re:generation, and I saw the work of the Holy Spirit in them. I desired the same kind of transformation, so I committed to going to Re:generation. I couldn’t imagine a

bunch of dudes sharing and laying it all out there, but God can do miracles. It was an incredible experience, and it just kept getting better. My Re:generation brothers are strong, caring, compassionate, and resilient. The honest sharing helped me to explore the areas that were keeping me from giving God everything. This is when the long journey from my head to my heart started. This is when I knew my life began to change. This is when I surrendered it all.

For many years, I sucked the joy out of life and relationships. I didn’t laugh much, I didn’t smile much, was stoic, and always seemed to be planning my next project. Looking back, God had been working on my heart, but my analytical brain was getting in the way. I just didn’t understand what drove me to focus how I did. Re:generation gave me a way to dig into why I am the way I am. The process showed me the way out, but the power of the Holy Spirit gives me the courage and desire to live free.

Before, when I read the Word, it was about learning, understanding, and teaching. Now, when I read the Word, I want to feel it in my heart. I look forward to my daily walk with God, my time with the Lord, my conversation, and my quiet time listening for His whisper. The last few years have been life-changing. This past year has been lived by the Spirit, and from this point forward, it is keeping in step with the Spirit.

My love has grown stronger, and I am much quicker to realize that an apology is warranted, forgiveness needs to be addressed, to make amends, and to reconcile. I don’t seem to give much thought anymore about controlling the narrative or boasting to set myself apart. I also don’t dwell on the need to self-protect.

The journey to the heart can be a long one. Sometimes it may take 68 years, but it’s a journey that can only happen by the grace of God and the Holy Spirit living in us.

At NMC, we genuinely believe we are better together. Therefore, we encourage everyone to circle up with others in a group. We have three different types of groups you can join. Connection Groups meet over shared interests such as hiking, board games, or movies; Community Groups meet for fellowship, prayer, and Bible study; and Care Groups assist anyone walking through difficulty or a life transition. BAPTISMS

We offer classes for elementary-aged children, students, and adults quarterly. After attending a class, one of our pastors will meet with you or your child to discuss the class content.

RE:GENERATION

Navigating day-to-day life can be challenging. Whether you find yourself wrestling with anxiety, stuck in hopelessness, uncertain how to break an addiction, feeling lost, or ruled by pride, anger, or fear, you are not alone. We all have struggles to overcome, and we all experience brokenness. But the good news is that we have a God who loves us so much and desires to help us find healing and freedom! God has a plan for you, and through His Word, He offers us a path to find new life in Christ. Re:generation equips us with tools to live the way God has called us to live in meaningful fellowship with Him and others.

MARRIAGE MINISTRIES

Healthy marriages start long before the wedding. Building strong marriages matters here at North Metro Church. We want to help build and support strong, thriving marriages centered on Christ.

We have marriage discipleship classes designed for engaged couples, newly married couples, and couples who want to make their marriages more enriched by applying biblical principles and growing in their walk with Christ. PRAYER

HOME REPAIR ASSISTANCE

NMC has a faithful group of men looking to assist widows, single moms, and other ladies in our church. These men are skilled in most areas of basic home repairs, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry; however, they are unable to take on major renovations or projects that require county permitting. If you are a single woman in need of assistance with home maintenance or repairs, please visit northmetro.org/care to submit your request.

STEPHEN MINISTRY

Stephen Ministry is a one-on-one care ministry that supports those experiencing difficult times. Stephen Ministers are members of our NMC community who are well-trained in encouraging others who are enduring painful times, such as the loss of a loved one, a marriage, a job, or a health issue. If you are facing any of life's difficult circumstances, please consider using a Stephen Minister to help bear your burdens.

Cancer hits with a terrible punch, whether it’s you, a spouse, parent, sibling, child, or friend. We can't take you out of this storm, but we can walk alongside you and hold you up when the weight is too heavy. We can be that safe place where you can let all your feelings fall. We can have the honor of praying continually for you and your family. We can be that safe group of ladies who get it without explanation or apologies; we get it all.

BEAUTY FOR ASHES SUPPORT GROUP

Beauty for Ashes is a confidential group designed to encourage and give hope to women whose husbands struggle with sexual addiction. We understand the devastation of a husband's betrayal; however, our goal is not to stay in this place of wounding but to seek the Lord for healing and hope.

NMCU

North Metro Church University (NMCU) is our primary vehicle for studying the Bible together to form a biblical worldview. In NMCU Core (101-104), you'll move through a set sequence of classes and learn about the big picture of Scripture and how everything in Scripture points to and is fulfilled in Jesus. In this learning process, NMCU will also help you understand and communicate your faith to others so you can become a more faithful follower of Jesus, a disciple who makes disciples.

This summer, NMCU Core (101-104) will be offered online. Additionally, we will have 101 and 104 in-person on the Barrett Campus. In-person classes begin on Tuesday, June 9, from 7-9pm, and run through August 11. Head to northmetro.org/nmcu to sign up now!

Pine Cove’s incredible summer day camp program, is returning to North Metro Church! Camp will be hosted at our Barrett Campus June 1-5 and at our Sewell Mill Campus July 20-24. Pine Cove has been impacting families since 1968, and we’d love for your child to experience this wildly popular camp that fills up with waiting lists across the country!

This week long camp is designed for rising 1st-6th graders for the 2026-2027 school year.

Each day runs from 9:00am4:00pm and includes a climbing wall, inflatables, water slides,

The NMC Kids Table Talker is a discipleship tool developed by the NMC Kids team to help families connect intentionally around the dinner table. The activities and devotions you'll find in the Table Talker are based on the Gospel Project curriculum that we use in our classrooms. This means you can connect what you do at home with what your kids do in their NMC classroom. But it's not all curriculum; you'll also find silly games, get-to-know-you questions, and family challenges. You are your child's first teacher and the first person to disciple your child. We hope the NMC Kids Table Talker is just the tool you need to take your family relationships to the next level. Grab yours

This year, we’re stepping away from our traditional Spring Retreat and inviting students into DWELL WKND, a slower, more intentional weekend focused

on dwelling with God through prayer, solitude, and Scripture reading. Rather than rushing from moment to moment, students will experience a calm, worshipheavy environment designed to create space for reflection, listening, and abiding with the Lord. High school students will head off campus to Camp Hope for a retreat experience, while middle school students will gather at North Metro Church for a meaningful, non-overnight weekend. We engage with everyone in and outside of our circles in a way that if NMC ceased to exist, we, the body of Christ, would Be Missed.

This summer is an exciting season for NMC Students. We have the privilege of sending five mission teams into the world, and we are in awe as we watch students respond to God’s call to go. Seeing young men and women step forward with willing hearts, ready to serve, love, and share the Gospel, is one of the greatest joys of student ministry.

We believe students are not just the future of the Church; they are an essential part of what God is doing right now. Through these trips, they will grow in dependence on the Lord and experience His work far beyond their everyday context.

NMC STUDENT MISSION TRIPS Guatemala

Scotland Mission Trip

One of our favorite parts of student ministry is helping the broader church family see how God is moving in the next generation. These teams are stepping into real opportunities to trust Him and join His mission in the world.

This summer, NMC Students and NMC College will partner with ministries both locally and globally. From sharing the love of Christ in Atlanta neighborhoods to engaging Hindu, Muslim, and Jewish communities in New Jersey to serving alongside Take Hold Church in Scotland to sharing God's heart in Guatemala, our students will encourage the Church and reflect Jesus wherever they go.

There are two meaningful ways you can partner with them: pray and give. Please pray for safety, unity, boldness, and lasting Gospel impact in both the students and the people they will meet.

Our greatest need is financial support for two High School international teams serving in Scotland and Guatemala. International travel comes with high costs, and every gift, big or small, helps make it possible for students to step into these life-changing experiences. Your generosity not only sends them, but it also fuels Gospel conversations, strengthens local ministry partners, and allows our students to witness firsthand how God is moving around the world.

CAMP GRACE

ROBERTA, GA | SUMMER 2026

Spend a week this summer serving with our long-time ministry partner, Camp Grace, just under two hours away in Roberta, GA. Camp Grace transforms the lives of underserved youth through grace by providing life-changing overnight camp experiences — and you can help make that happen.

Our team will interact with campers daily while helping create an unforgettable camp environment. From leading arts and crafts and facilitating activities like fishing and canoeing to setting up games, events, and meals, you’ll play a hands-on role in making camp special. Join us in creating a space where students can experience joy, belonging, and the love of Christ.

We will be taking a group down from NMC to serve with our long-time partner, Camp Grace. This is a great way to serve on a local mission trip and build memories. The dates are still being finalized. Contact Meagan Vinson at mvinson@northmetro.org if you are interested in learning more.

WAYMARK ROYAL KIDS CAMP

EAST GA | JUNE 6-JUNE 12

Waymark hosts two separate summer camps during this week! One serves children ages 7-12 in foster, adoptive, and group homes, and the other serves teens ages 13-14 who participate in our Community4Youth Mentorship Program.

CITY SERVE OPPORTUNITIES

HARVEST INDIA

MUMBAI, INDIA | JANUARY 2027

For six decades, Harvest India has carried Christ’s compassion to the villages of India, serving the poorest of the poor, caring for orphans, providing education, and sharing the Gospel. Join us for a ten-day trip to serve alongside the people of Harvest India. We will have an informational meeting on Sunday, April 19, at the Barrett Campus at 10:30am. CASA DEL REDENTOR

PANAJACHEL, GUATEMALA | SEPTEMBER 19 - SEPTEMBER 27

We are having our first-ever medical trip down to Guatemala. We are partnering

with GHO (Global Health Outreach) to serve over 1000 people in the villages near Panajachel. We will need a variety of medical professionals - doctors, nurse practitioners, dentists, pharmacists, physical therapists, nurses, and more. CHARACTER EDUCATION MENTORING AT KENNESAW MOUNTAIN HIGH SCHOOL

You can invest in the next generation by becoming a mentor to encourage students once a month at Kennesaw Mountain High School during the 2026-2027 school year. Mentors serve once a month, helping facilitate meaningful conversations through Habitudes by Dr. Tim Elmore, a leadership and social-emotional curriculum that equips students with tools for healthy character, wise decision-making, and strong leadership. This is an opportunity to engage students in the public school environment where they can practice these skills daily. Standing in Prayer, Watching God Move

In February we welcomed the first mission team of the year, and something very special about this team was that many of the participants came as families. Parents traveled with their children, and even some grandparents joined the team. It is always beautiful to see how God uses people of all ages and backgrounds to serve and bless others.

During the week we had many opportunities to serve. We visited the new school in Panajachel, where we are now serving 140 children. The team also helped prepare lunch for students in Patzutzun and Chuitziyut, and they worked on renovating the library in the village of Xecotoj by giving it a fresh coat of paint and making some much-needed repairs to the bathrooms.

But the most impactful part of the week was something we did not plan.

Just a few days before the mission team arrived, the community leaders in Chuitziyut were replaced for the first time in 20 years. Chuitziyut is the most remote and one of the most vulnerable villages where we serve.

From the beginning, it seemed that the new leader did not agree with CDR continuing to work in the community and share the Gospel with children and adults.

On Sunday, the first day of the mission, we visited the village and brought food bags for every family. Together we prayed for each home, each family, and every corner of the community, asking God to open doors that we could not open ourselves.

Later that afternoon we attended a local church in Panajachel. During the service, something unexpected happened. Andy Lampert, one of the elders from our church, was invited by the pastor—completely spontaneously—to share the message that evening. Without hesitation, Andy stepped forward. He shared part of his testimony and delivered a message that deeply encouraged and filled the hearts of the entire congregation.

Three days later, I received a call from someone in Chuitziyut with surprising news: “CDR is staying.”

The new leaders had gathered the entire village and expressed their desire to expel us. The decision was put to a vote before the community. To everyone’s surprise, the entire village voted in favor of allowing CDR to remain and continue our work in Chuitziyut.

The community itself asked the new leaders to allow us to keep serving without any obstacles.

I can only describe this as a miracle. God opened a door that we could not open ourselves.

Stories like this remind us that this ministry belongs to God. Thank you to everyone who has been praying for us, and thank you to the February mission team for serving alongside us in the field.

We have a new favorite “problem” right now! Sundays are full—and we’re so grateful, but we want to keep making room for new people taking a first step toward Jesus. That’s where Thursday Night Church comes in.

It’s the same sermon and worship you love, just in a smaller, more relaxed setting (plus free coffee). Right now, Thursdays are lighter, which creates space for our growing Sunday crowds.

A simple shift can make a big difference. Together we can keep saying, “Welcome home.”
