GUEST ARTISTS BIOGRAPHIES
Trumpet Professor at the University of Caldas and Yamaha Artist for Latin America, Oscar Fernando Trujillo Gómez is the director and founder of the Redentorist Conservatory. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music from the University of Caldas and a Master’s degree in Music from EAFIT University, and is currently pursuing doctoral studies in Pedagogy at UPEL Universit y (Venezuela).
He began his musical training in the Departmental Band Program of Caldas and studied trumpet with Marino Escobar, Jorge Mario Raigoza, Guillermo Morales, Juan Carlos Valencia, and Juan Fernando Avendaño. His artistic development includes advanced studies i n Venezuela, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Brazil. He is a scholarship recipient of the Mazda Foundation for Art and Science.
As a composer, he has received more than fifteen awards at major competitions and festivals in Colombia. His works have been performed by numerous symphonic ensembles across Europe, Asia, and Latin America. He has participated in twelve commercial recordin g projects.
His international performance career includes appearances at the International Trumpet Guild Conferences (45th and 47th editions, USA), Más Palomas Trumpet Fest (Spain), the International Trumpet Festival Ciutat de Xixona (Spain), the Liceu Conservatory (Barcelona), and the Cancún Music Festival (Mexico). He has served as a juror for international trumpet competitions in Spain and Mexico.
He is the founder and organizer of the Manizales International Trumpet Camp, now in its ninth edition, and regularly collaborates in music education and artistic training initiatives throughout Colombia, Latin America, and Europe.
Diana Carolina Medina López holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music from the University of Caldas and a Master’s degree in Music with an emphasis in Violin from EAFIT University.
Since 2001, she has been a member of the Caldas Symphony Orchestra, where she currently serves as Principal Second Violin. She has worked as a violin instructor at the Batuta Foundation and at the Redentorist Conservatory of Manizales.
She has studied with the following teachers: Williams Naranjo, Eddy Marcano, Evelio Barazarte, Francisco Cristancho, Alexis Cárdenas, Jorge Budziszewski, Adrián Chamorro, José Luis Camisón, Simón Gollo, Marvicperman Urbina, Paul Desenne, and Álvaro Lares.
She currently holds the position of Pedagogical Support in the Arts for Peaceprogram, led by the Colombian Ministry of Culture.
