Participants and parents alike can expect these activities to have a social and interactive component that can help develop these critical life skills. This program will generate strong pillars of teamwork, sportsmanship, and water safety to stabilize a strong foundation for a fun and rewarding experience this summer season. The STAR Program – Shrek the Musical KIDS

For the Fall of 2026, the STAR Program classes will offer Shrek The Musical KIDS, based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film and fantastic Broadway musical. It’s a “big bright beautiful world” as everyone’s favorite ogre, Shrek, leads a cast of fairytale misfits on an adventure to rescue a princess and find true acceptance. Once upon a time, in a far away swamp, there lived an ogre named Shrek. One day, Shrek finds his swamp invaded by banished fairytale misfits who have been cast off by Lord Farquaad, a tiny terror with big ambitions. When Shrek sets off with a wisecracking donkey to confront Farquaad, he’s handed a task — if he rescues feisty princess Fiona, his swamp will be righted. Shrek tries to win Fiona’s love and vanquish Lord Farquaad, but a fairytale wouldn’t be complete without a few twists and turns along the way.

This program offers 10 weeks of class with two performances per class: One on the last night of class and one the following weekend.

Rising Stars present: The Wizard of Oz: Youth Edition

For the Summer of 2026, the Rising Stars will present The Wizard of Oz: Youth Edition, a one-hour adaptation of The Wizard of Oz, specially tailored for elementary and middle school-aged actors. L. Frank Baum’s beloved story of a young girl’s adventure in a magical land has been entertaining audiences for over a century. MGM’s blockbuster 1939 film adaptation, featuring the timeless songs of Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg, along with the brilliant instrumental music of Herbert Stothart, elevated the popular novel to even greater heights. This stage adaptation, featuring the characters and celebrated songs from the film, brings the wondrous Land of Oz to life in a jubilant theatrical experience. Join Dorothy and her loyal companion Toto as they “Follow the Yellow Brick Road” through the Land of Oz, determined to reach the Emerald City, where the great and powerful Wizard of Oz will help them get home. Of course, along the way, Dorothy encounters witches (both good and bad), Munchkins, talking trees and winged monkeys. But most importantly, she befriends three unique characters: a Scarecrow with no brain, a Tin Man with no heart, and a Lion with no “nerve.” Their journey to happiness – and self-awareness – is a glowing testament to friendship, understanding and hope in a world filled with both beauty and ugliness.

Straight to the Stars Jr. presents: Fantastic Mr. Fox

For the Summer of 2026, Straight to the Stars Jr. will present Fantastic Mr. Fox, adapted for the stage by David Wood from the book by Roald Dahl. Roald Dahl’s much-loved story follows the vain efforts of three farmers, Boggis, Bunce and Bean (one fat, one short, one lean), to get rid of the fox who regularly steals food from their farms. Despite their efforts to kill the fox by any means possible, the hapless farmers are outwitted at every turn.

Straight to the Stars presents: Kate Hamill’s Little

For the Summer of 2026, Straight to the Stars will produce Kate Hamill’s popular, modern stage adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel, Little Women, for their annual non-musical production. Jo March isn’t your typical Victorian lady. She’s indecorous and headstrong, and one day she’s going to be a great American novelist. As she and her sisters grow up in the middle of the Civil War, they strive to be brave, intelligent and imaginative young women. But as adulthood approaches, each sister must negotiate her private ambitions with society’s expectations. In a war-torn world defined by gender, class and personal tragedy, Jo March gives us her greatest story: that of the March sisters, four dreamers destined to be imperfect little women. In classic Kate Hamill fashion, a literary masterpiece is updated and refreshed for the modern age, with focus given to the strong, seldom well-behaved women who make history. Bursting with humor and emotional intelligence, this Little Women speaks across centuries and generations.
