The city changes after dark. Crowds thin. Storefronts glow against concrete. A figure disappears around a corner while, several stories above, windows stack endlessly against the night sky. Posters peel from walls, paint settles over paint, and images left behind by strangers become landmarks for those who know where to look. Tomorrow, someone will paste over them, paint beside them, tear them down, or leave something new in their place. The city is never finished. Concrete to Canvas returns to the streets — to the walls, to the people, and chance encounters that have long given Street Art its language. For Joe Iurato, Logan Hicks, and Lady AIKO, the city is more than a backdrop. Joe Iurato captures the human heart of the city, transforming quiet moments of play, vulnerability, and reflection into poignant, deeply personal narratives. Logan Hicks slows the city down, layering architecture, light, and shadow into intricate, cinematic worlds. Lady AIKO answers the city with color — layering femininity, Japanese imagery, American pop culture, and the energy of New York into a language unmistakably her own. Street Art was built to be encountered, changed, and sometimes lost among the layers. Concrete to Canvas offers the chance to live with it. Three artists. Three ways of moving through the city. Through Iurato, Hicks, and AIKO, a language shaped in public becomes something personal that carries the energy of the street beyond the walls where it began into the spaces we make our own. Because a city is made twice: first by those who build it, and then by those who leave their mark. LADY AIKO Japanese, b. 1975
AIKO’s art emerges from the collision of cultures, images, and histories that define the contemporary city. Born in Tokyo and based in New York, she has developed a visual language that moves fluidly between Japanese tradition and global street culture. Flowers, butterflies, rabbits, hearts, female figures, decorative patterns, and fragments of popular imagery collide across her hand-cut stencils, paintings, murals, and installations—creating a world that is at once seductive and rebellious, playful and deeply personal. New York became fundamental to the development of that language. After arriving in 1997, AIKO immersed herself in a city where graffiti, music, fashion, advertising, and contemporary art constantly overlapped. She worked in Takashi Murakami’s Brooklyn studio and became a founding member of FAILE, before establishing her independent practice in 2006. Rather than belonging wholly to one tradition or another, her work grew from the meeting of both: Japanese aesthetics transformed through stencil, aerosol, collage, and the graphic immediacy of the street. That duality continues through AIKO’s recurring imagery. Her iconic Bunny, first created as a stencil in 2005 while at Banksy’s London studio, has become an emblem of love, peace, independence, and freedom, while her female figures move between sensuality and strength, beauty and agency. Over more than two decades, AIKO has carried this language onto walls around the world, including Wynwood Walls and New York’s Bowery Wall, where in 2012 she became the first woman invited to paint the celebrated site. Across the street and the gallery, her work remains rooted in the same personal mythology: love, freedom, femininity, resilience, and the city.

LOGAN HICKS American, b. 1971
Logan Hicks looks at the city as both a place and a memory. Walking its streets— often at night, camera in hand—he is drawn to the moments when familiar architecture becomes something more intimate: rain shining across cobblestones, neon washing an empty street in color, or a lone figure passing through an otherwise rigid landscape. Working from his own photographs, Hicks transforms these fleeting observations into meticulously layered stencil paintings, using light, shadow, and color to turn the familiar into something contemplative. Trained at the Maryland Institute College of Art, Hicks began his career as a screen printer before translating that understanding of separated color and image into his distinctive stencil practice. Working from his own photographs, he builds scenes through layers of stencils and aerosol, using light, shadow, color, and pattern to transform ordinary architecture into something contemplative. Often described as a painter with a photographer’s eye, Hicks is interested less in reproducing a place exactly than in capturing the feeling that made him stop and photograph it in the first place. Over the course of his career, Hicks has brought this language to walls around the world. He was selected to participate in Banksy’s Cans Festival in London in 2008 and painted Wynwood Walls in Miami in 2010. His monumental 2016 Bowery Wall mural, The Story of My Life, used 1,050 stencils to transform a gathering of people from his own life into a portrait of his first decade in New York. Whether monumental or intimate, his work returns to something deeply personal: the places we inhabit, the people who briefly move through them, and the light that can make an ordinary street suddenly unforgettable. For Hicks, the city is never simply architecture—it is something lived, felt, and remembered.

Joe Iurato is a New Jersey based multidisciplinary artist whose works are built on a foundation of stencils and aerosol paint. An internationally recognized street artist, gallery, and commercial artist, Iurato is known for having a distinctly clean and illustrative style. At the heart of his work are the stories, each shaped by personal experiences, influences and observations. His recollection of childhood, in all of its innocence, imaginative play, mischief and curiosity, is a recurring theme in Joe’s works – often told through depictions of his own kids, neighborhood friends and families he meets along the way. His mastery of scale and perspective—best exemplified in his signature wooden cutouts—creates a powerful dialogue between the artwork and its environment, manipulating space and challenging perceptions. For nearly 20 years, Iurato has been dedicated to stencil art and exploring its possibilities. Outside, he works on varying scales, from mural to miniature, often creating site-specific installations that allow the surrounding environment to play a key role in the completion of the works’ narratives. His signature wooden cutouts highlight the unlimited potential for storytelling within the overlooked details of public space. In the studio, he uses a wide range of media, including found objects and reclaimed wood, to experiment, tinker, build and evolve. His works resonate across the globe, exhibited in cities such as London, New York, Miami, Taipei, and Berlin. Iurato’s collaborations with brands like GQ, Adidas, IPIC Theaters, and The NFL, along with his impressive murals across the United States and Europe further highlight his impact on contemporary art.
