WCAPS/OiS Ombuds Charter Introduction Woman of Color Advancing Peace, Security, and Conflict Transformation (WCAPS) through its program Organizations in Solidarity (OiS) is committed to the just and fair treatment of all staff at all OiS member organizations. WCAPS/OiS established the Ombuds position effective October 31st, 2022 in an effort to improve the quality of “work-life” to all OiS member organizations. I.
Mission & Purpose Mission: The mission of the Ombuds is to help support and maintain a healthy organizational workplace environment where all are comfortable and empowered to voice concerns and raise questions regarding the organization’s workplace environment without fear of reprisal. Purpose & Scope of Services: First, the Ombuds will provide the staff at OiS member organizations, except those organizations that explicitly opt out, and individual OiS partners with a confidential, impartial, independent and informal resource to resolve organization related issues, herein referred to as constituents. A constituent is any organizational representative, staff at OiS member organizations, or individual member of OiS or person who professionally interacts with OiS. The Ombuds is available for conflict resolution to any staff member at any OiS member organizations and to individual OiS partners. The Ombuds will listen, make informal inquiries, offer options for conflict resolution, and be an informal catalyst for positive change. An informal inquiry is not a formal request for private records or information.
