A MESSAGE FROM THE CEO
Over the past several months, much of my time has been dedicated to one important priority: listening and learning. I have had the privilege of connecting with partners, community members, and so many individuals who are connected to our work in different ways. These conversations have given me valuable insight into the strengths of our community, the needs we share, and the opportunities we have to continue growing together.
Building meaningful relationships requires taking the time to understand what each individual or organization brings to the table, reflecting on what's working well, and considering where we can strengthen our partnerships for the benefit of the individuals and families we serve. I know so many of our nonprofits and business community understand the need to create a community where survivors have access to the support, safety, and resources they need, not just through our own efforts at WCA, but through the collective work of many dedicated organizations.
I have been grateful for the opportunity to visit with and learn from other domestic violence organizations, including Advocates Against Family Violence, whose team provides incredible resources and support to survivors in Canyon County. Connecting with organizations doing this important work helps us better understand the broader landscape of services available and identify ways we can continue to support one another.
I have also had the opportunity to connect with CATCH, a partnership that highlights the critical connection between domestic violence and housing stability. Since domestic violence is the leading cause of homelessness in Idaho, strong relationships with housing organizations throughout the Treasure Valley are essential. Working together allows us to better support survivors as they navigate safety, stability, and a path forward.
These conversations are just the beginning. I look forward to continuing to learn from our partners, deepening our collaborations, and discovering new ways we can work together to strengthen our community.
Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to share your experiences, your expertise, and your vision with me. I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of this community and excited for the work ahead.

CORPORATE PILLAR NEWS
Although we didn’t have any special events for the WCA in the last quarter, May, June, and July were full of meetups and external events with our valued Corporate Pillars, essential partners, and potential collaborators within the Treasure Valley.
Supporting our partners in their successes, like this open house for Berkeley Building Co.’s new space, CBH Home’s ribbon cutting for The Locale, or collaborating with Athletic Club Boise is essential to strengthening our community relationships. While the baseline of development work is to create funding streams to support our programs, to me, it is so much more than that. Building relationships with others who share our values means that we can create a network of outreach and resources for survivors.

Hi, I’m Alix Neva, WCA’s new Chief of Staff. I’m excited to join the team and bring more than 10 years of nonprofit leadership experience in operations, strategy, and community engagement.
Throughout my career, I’ve been passionate about supporting people and strengthening organizations so they can better serve their communities.
At the WCA, I look forward to partnering with staff across all departments to strengthen our internal systems, foster collaboration, and create an environment where our team has the support and resources needed to do their best work.
What drew me to the WCA is not only the organization’s mission, but also its incredible team and commitment to creating lasting change. I’m honored to be part of an organization that provides safety, healing, and freedom to so many individuals and families. Outside of work, you can usually find me spending time with my husband and young son, practicing yoga, or enjoying any and all things outdoors.
We are so honored to be recognized in the 2026 Best of Boise Awards, for Best Nonprofit: Human Rights & Advocacy!
We share this recognition with every individual who believes in our mission to provide safety, healing & freedom from domestic abuse and sexual assault: our clients, staff, ambassadors, donors, volunteers, corporate pillars, and community partners across 116 years of service. This work is a group effort, and Boise continues to show up for the WCA and for survivors every single day.
