Congratulations 2024 Honorees!

History

The WCA has been an important community partner for more than 112 years. Originally started as the YWCA by nine pioneering women, it offered safe housing for women drawn from rural areas to Boise for work. Building on this foundation, the WCA is focused on a core mission of providing safety, healing and freedom from domestic abuse and sexual assault. The WCA operates two 24-hour hotlines, secure shelter and programs for clients, including professional counseling, safety planning, case management, licensed childcare and classes addressing life skills, parenting and financial empowerment programming. Through the court advocacy program, the WCA provides assistance to petitioners seeking protection orders and court accompaniment to proceedings. The WCA’s client advocates provide crisis intervention, advocacy and support. Education and outreach is offered through school prevention programming, community presentations and 35-minute WCA virtual Mission Tours in which participants learn about the prevalence of domestic abuse and sexual assault and ways to get involved. The WCA has a very active volunteer program, with one-time and ongoing opportunities for individuals and groups. As a 501(c)(3) organization, the WCA relies on grants from federal, state and local agencies, and the generosity of individual donors and corporate partners to provide essential funds and in-kind donations. With an annual operating budget of more than $4 million, 92% of all funding goes directly to client services. For more information, vist our website at wcaboise.org

Welcome to this year’s gathering in celebration of YOU, our 2024 TWINs. As you join an elite group of over 1,300 leaders representing a wide range of industries and careers, know that you have been singled out by your organizations because of your dedication and leadership. You serve as an inspiration to others within your organizations and throughout your community, serving as encouragement for other women to follow in your footsteps. As we celebrate the 2024 TWINs, we also celebrate the organizations who recognize and empower female leaders while at the same time supporting the work of the WCA. This 31st TWIN Awards Luncheon is an opportunity to introduce the region’s leading women in business and industry who represent the best of Idaho. It is my privilege to serve as the Honorary Chair of this year’s TWIN Awards Luncheon and proudly share that since the TWIN’s inception, 61 Saint Alphonsus colleagues have received this prestigious recognition for their community service. Since inception, our organizations have a shared history of courageous pioneering women who braved unsurmountable challenges to bring vital health, safety and hope to those in need. In 1894, Saint Alphonsus opened Idaho’s first hospital, and in 1910, the Women and Children’s Alliance opened Idaho’s first safe housing for women. Over more than a century, our two organizations have left a legacy of unyielding servant leadership that has changed the lives of women, children, and families in need. We are proud of the life-changing impact the WCA and Idaho’s community and business partners have on the lives of all families served. Corporate Pillar Impact Last fiscal year alone, our Corporate Pillars generously donated nearly $300,000 in Monetary funds and In-Kind support to the WCA. This group of over 60 businesses and organizations truly embodies what it means to be a community and a caring neighbor. Our Corporate Pillars not only donate financially, but they also play an important role in programs like our Back to School and Holiday sponsorships, which are amazing ways to support in-kind needs for our clients.

Our informative and educational presentations also afford Corporate Pillars the opportunity to support the WCA and the vital work we do in the areas of domestic abuse and sexual assault whilst educating employees about our services. Group volunteering opportunities exist which allow organizations to give back in meaningful ways outside of fiscal contributions. As a result of all the amazing support the WCA receives from Corporate Pillars, we are able to widen our network of free services to all those in need, no matter their identity. System Director, Infection Prevention St. Luke’s Health System

Cynthia Adams is a store director at the Cherry Lane and Ten Mile Albertsons store, Intermountain Division. Her responsibilities include leading 120 employees, execution of programs, training associates to be future Albertsons leaders , and taking care of her customers.

Aimee Baerlocher, System Director of Infection Prevention at St. Luke’s Health System (SLHS) has oversight of the infection prevention program implementation and standardization of quality and safety best practices across a diverse health system.

Cynthia started her career with Albertsons in 2000 as a customer service clerk. She spent about 15 years as general manager, then moved to grocery manager and assistant store director. Before advancing to her current role as store director, Cynthia worked at about 14 different stores throughout her career.

Aimee has 22 years of service at SLHS, with 20 years building her passion and expertise in infection prevention practices as a leader at the organization, state, and national level by establishing networks and partnerships. She is passionate about the growth and professional development of her team members.

Cynthia attended Boise State University. She attended many leadership conferences to hone her leadership skills.

Aimee graduated from the University of Idaho with Bachelor of Science degrees in sports science and nutrition. She obtained her Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from Idaho State University. Aimee is board certified in infection control and epidemiology (CIC) and obtained her Fellow of the Association of Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (FAPIC). She has held board positions on the Intermountain APIC Chapter and serves on national APIC committees.

Cynthia has been married to her husband, Jeff, for 31 years, they have four great kids — two daughters and two sons. In her spare time, Cynthia loves to watch her three grandsons — who are the light of her life — play sports, camp, and take weekend getaway trips.

Aimee lives in Boise with her husband, Ryan. She enjoys running, hiking, camping, live music, and Broadway musicals. Aimee volunteers for the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization as a big sister mentor and serves on the Delta Gamma Nu Chapter house corporation board at University of Idaho.

Lindzee Barrera is the director of marketing operations and customer engagement at the J.R. Simplot Company. She leads a team that manages content strategy, marketing automation, customer insights, sales enablement, and marketing services within a $2 billion foodservice and CPG company. She oversees the digital user experience, particularly the relaunch of simplotfoods.com, drives the food group’s strategy with data-driven customer insights, and manages the brand and marketing campaigns for the Simplot Food Group.

Lindzee’s career with J.R. Simplot Company spans over 14 years and encompasses various significant roles. Before her current position, she was the senior manager of marketing operations, leading digital marketing and customer insights. Earlier, as the senior foodservice brand marketing manager for French fries, Lindzee played a crucial role in the growth of core foodservice brands. Her professional journey also includes experiences at Stoltz Marketing Group and Orca Bay Seafoods.

Jan joined the office in 1994. During her nearly 30-year career, Jan held multiple leadership positions before becoming the Ada County prosecutor in 2014. She has handled a wide variety of criminal cases.

Lindzee graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in communication and media studies/business from the University of Idaho. She engaged in activities like Alpha Phi, the golf team, and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Beyond her corporate achievements, Lindzee founded Birdie Girl Golf, a women’s golf accessories and clothing venture. She balances her professional life with her roles as a mother to Jack (11) and Anabel (9), wife to Javier, and dog mom to Peter Barker. Dedicated to mentoring, she works to empower others to embrace their authentic selves in the workplace.

Jan Bennetts, Ada County Prosecutor, is responsible for leading 180 employees whose mission is maintaining public safety alongside law enforcement, advocating and supporting victims from the crime scene to the courtroom, representing Ada County in civil matters, and strengthening the quality of life in Ada County with the highest ethical standards. She is proud of her team’s tireless commitment to our community.

After completing her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Idaho, she earned her law degree at Willamette University College of Law. Jan is honored to have played a role in the creation of the Ada County Victim Services Center, which has been serving vulnerable crime victims since 2006 by making a variety of services, such as medical care and forensic exams, available in one place. She is honored to serve on the WCA Board. Jan enjoys family time, cheering on her nieces at sporting events, and teaching about the role of a prosecutor. Jan and her husband live in Eagle.

Gina Bessire

VP/SBA Business Development Officer Umpqua Bank Gina Bessire is a VP/SBA business development officer with Umpqua Bank responsible for originating and assisting with the underwriting and closing of SBA 7(a) and 504 loans. Using a command of the SBA Standard Operating Procedure, she serves as a resource on SBA eligibility and loan structure, both internally and as a trusted advisor to clients and prospects in Idaho, Washington, and Northern Utah. Gina has been with Umpqua Bank for nearly two years and was previously VP/manager of Zions Bank’s Business Resource Center where she was instrumental in the disbursement of more than $57,000,000 in SBA loans — capital that business owners would not have obtained if it were not for the SBA federal loan program. In addition to her banking experience, Gina served as acting co-director of the Economic Opportunity Initiative of Jannus, Inc where she helped socially and economically disadvantaged individuals such as refugees, immigrants, and Native Americans increase financial literacy and gain financial independence through self-employment. Gina lives in Boise with her significant other and a very energetic cowboy corgi named Scout, and is the proud mother of a grown daughter and Idaho Vandal who works in international development in Washington D.C.

Kara Christian

Director of Sales City of Trees Real Estate Keller Williams Realty Boise Nominated by Berkeley Building Co.

Kara Christian is the director of sales for the City of Trees Real Estate team, driven by Livian and Keller Williams Realty Boise. Leading a team of over 20 agents, she coaches and mentors them to enhance productivity, conducts real estate classes, and oversees team meetings, all aimed at assisting homeowners across Idaho. Her ambition for 2024 is to aid over 450 clients while maintaining her own active role in production. Her team spends the month of June, “Thanksgiving in June” focusing on giving back to the community — collecting food and supplies, volunteering at the food bank, and collecting monetary donations. Other nonprofits they support are the WCA, Putts for Patriots, and many others. Raised in Ontario, Oregon, Kara considers herself a native of the Treasure Valley, instilled with a strong work ethic from her upbringing on her family’s farm along the Malheur River. Beginning her career in 2006, Kara ventured into new construction, navigating through short sales and bank-owned homes post-Great Recession. Joining Keller Williams Realty Boise in 2011, she eventually merged her team with the City of Trees Team, evolving into the West Valley team leader, then Treasure Valley team leader, lead listing agent, and now the director of sales. Outside work, Kara and her husband, Rick, have raised four children and now cherish time with their four grandsons. They explore Idaho’s scenic mountains, especially their Garden Valley property, indulging in activities like mountain biking, hiking, and river floating.

Shayna Cox oversees a team of outstanding individuals who collectively manage over 3.7 million square feet of commercial properties. Her responsibilities include forecasting, reporting, major improvement projects, risk management, and lease administration.

Macey Crow is the director of finance transformation in the AMER region for Plexus Corp., a global contract manufacturing company, where she leads the execution of regional continuous improvement, standardization, shared services, automation, and development initiatives for operational finance.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in business management and in marketing from Pensacola Christian College and earned a Certified Property Manager (CPM®) designation through the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM). Shayna lives near Mountain Home with her husband and two Labradors. In her free time, she enjoys exploring the back country (on foot or skis) and drinking good coffee.

Macey began her career at Deloitte in 2011. She enjoyed working with manufacturing clients and joined Plexus Corp. as a financial analyst in 2013. In 2016, she became the controller at Northwest Nazarene University, until returning to Plexus Corp. as the Boise site controller in 2019. In 2022, she added the Portland location to her site controller responsibilities, and in 2023 was promoted to the regional director role. Macey received her bachelor’s in accounting and finance from Boise State University. Since returning to Plexus Corp. in 2019, she has completed the Harvard Mentor Manager Senior Leader track, served as a development committee lead for the employee resource group Women In Network (WIN), and is currently serving as the regional pillar lead for the social pillar of the company’s sustainability efforts. Macey and her husband, Tyler, live in Nampa and have three daughters. They can be found skiing in the winters and on the softball field in the summers.

Senior Account Executive Lotus Boise Radio and Digital

Melanie Davis is a branch manager at Idaho Central Credit Union (ICCU). She manages the branch inside Mountain View High School (MVHS) that is run by students, for students. Her responsibilities include training and coaching student interns, mentoring her team to explore and achieve their career goals, and promoting financial literacy for students.

Victoria DeGroot is a senior account executive for Lotus Boise radio and digital advertising. She has worked for this group of stations for over 24 years. Her favorite part of the job is learning about new industries, discovering new businesses, and helping find solutions to help clients grow their business. Radio is also a fun and creative industry. Victoria mentors both co-workers and clients, sharing her knowledge and experience. She is a consultant for her clients, and some of her relationships are over 20 years old.

Melanie has worked at ICCU for 23 years. She started as a member service specialist, was promoted to operations officer, then moved into the training department, where she thrived as a master trainer. Melanie was instrumental in creating a system of certification checklists and classroom training still used today for new team members. Melanie opened the very first financial institution branch inside a school in Idaho when she opened the branch inside MVHS. She helped develop ICCU’s high-school vision, and she has further developed it over the last 17 years. She has helped with the organization and opening of two additional high school branches and assisted with the onboarding of those teams and managers. Melanie is an amazing contributor to the culture of the ICCU team. She is loved by her team for her positivity, laughter, and relationship building. She turns every situation into a positive experience for everyone around her.

Victoria started her advertising career at the Idaho Statesman in 1996. She received new business account executive of the year two years running. She joined the radio stations in November 1999. She went on to grow new business there as well. and byBy exceeding sales goals, she earned trips to the Journal Broadcast Group sales awards three years in a row! with Journal Broadcast Group. Victoria finished her college education at Seattle Pacific University with a bachelor’s degree in communication . Victoria has an adult daughter and a granddaughter and loves adventures with them. She loves walking, reading, live music, and is passionate about traveling abroad.

Kim Echevarria began her career with Albertsons in 1992 in the Boise-based corporate office as an accounts payable clerk. She has held senior administrative assistant positions in information technology, general merchandising, meat/meat deli, bakery merchandising, Six Sigma, and the Intermountain Division office. She has also held positions of increasing responsibility with investor relations, transition services, and center store merchandising as senior administrative assistant & project manager, which included managing mergerrelated personnel moves and software consolidation staffing. Kim devotes a lot of time and hard work to the many projects the division is involved in; including community campaigns, employee events, and fundraisers — to name a few.

Debbie Elmore’s contributions to the financial services industry in the Treasure Valley have been present nearly as long as the TWIN Awards. Her banking career began in 1981, when she landed her dream job as commercial loan secretary at Idaho Bank & Trust Co. (now KeyBank). While she did attend Northwest Nazarene College for a year, Debbie’s career accomplishments have primarily come through hard work and determination. Debbie continued her career by joining First Interstate Bank in 1996, and her leadership philosophy of “treating others as I wish to be treated” helped her climb the ranks from commercial banking representative (CBR) team member to CBR team lead (2017), and CBR manager (2021). In her current role, Debbie manages the entire Southern Idaho CBR team by encouraging collaboration and strong work ethics, conducting training and risk management, and cheering on her team’s successes.

In 2019, Kim was promoted to the role of community relations coordinator, helping to support the division’s Albertsons, Safeway, and Lucky stores across eight states. In this role, she works with many nonprofit partners in the communities across the banners, and coordinates employee engagement, community donations, and events.

Debbie also volunteers her time on the Finance Committee for Care House Partnerships, a nonprofit resource providing a community food bank, medical, and counseling services in Nampa.

Kim was born and raised in Boise, Idaho, and enjoys spending time crafting and working in her yard. She is the mother of a beautiful and talented daughter, Nicholle, 33, whom she loves spending time with.

Courtney Frost is a senior program officer for the Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health. For nearly 10 years, Courtney has led the organization’s statewide work in its community focus area by engaging and collaborating with local elected officials and organizations to build healthy communities and address root causes that impact health. She creates partnerships, manages, and supports statewide projects and programs in Idaho with a primary focus on small towns and rural Idaho. Courtney has partnered with more than 105 incorporated Idaho cities in Idaho and has managed more than $5 million in grant funds. Courtney holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from Eastern Washington University and a master’s certificate in nonprofit administration from Boise State University. Courtney’s career has been dedicated to philanthropic and nonprofit organizations. Before joining the Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health, Courtney worked in development at the American Heart Association and National MS Society. Courtney uses her experience in health-focused nonprofits to build trusted partnerships resulting in sustainable change.

Stacey Gehlken

Vice-President, Human Resources Blue Cross of Idaho Stacey Gehlken is the vice-president of Human Resources (HR) for Blue Cross of Idaho (BCI). She has responsibility for the full range of functions within HR — talent acquisition, talent management, total rewards, and business partnerships. Currently, Stacey is taking the lead on a companywide focus to become (and remain) a destination employer. Prior to joining BCI in September of 2017, Stacey spent 18 years in Information Technology (IT) and HR traversing the globe for a semi-conductor company, including living overseas for close to four years. Stacey’s first job in Idaho 34 years ago was co-owner/operator with her husband of the Hawkins Pac-Out burger drive through on Hill Road. In addition to taking some non-traditional paths to HR via IT and the burger business, Stacey also got to where she is without finishing her degree. Although not her proudest life fact, Stacey is extremely proud of all she has achieved and the impact she has had on people along the way. Stacey’ biggest source of pride is her family. Married to Steve for 34 years, they have successfully put two amazing daughters into the world, Kristina and Emily.

Courtney and her husband, Harrison, have two living children, Sonny (6) and Rory (2). Courtney is passionate about women’s access to healthcare, gardening, and continuous learning. She loves to incorporate humor in everything she does and enjoys watching sports, documentaries, and likes a good patio cocktail.

Heather Giacomo, P.E. Electrical Engineer IV CSHQA

Heather Giacomo is an electrical engineer IV and associate at CSHQA, a Boise architectural and engineering firm celebrating 135 years. A licensed professional engineer in four states, she coordinates with architects and other engineers to bring a project to life, ensuring code requirements are met as a client’s vision is realized. A leader in engineering, Heather trains and mentors CSHQA’s new electrical drafters and designers. Working her way up over nearly eight years, Heather joined the firm as an engineer-in-training fresh out of Montana State University (20 years after having received her first degree in history). Her family’s support, and a belief that she can accomplish anything she puts her mind to, allowed Heather to pursue a new challenge after having spent time at home with her children. In addition to pursuing her second degree, she was president of a mom’s group, created weekly enrichment programs, and a newsletter! Heather lives in Meridian with her husband of 25 years; both of her children attend Boise State University. When she’s not working, Heather enjoys quality time with her family and traveling. The mission of the Women’s and Children’s Alliance is personal for Heather, and she is honored to participate in an event connected to the WCA.

Allison R. Gibson

Allison Gibson brings over 30 years of soccer experience as the president and director of coaching with the Indie Chicas Soccer Club in the Treasure Valley. She imparts invaluable lessons on confidence and empowerment to the athletes in the club. Through training sessions and mentorship, she instills in the players not only the technical skills necessary for success on the field, but the mental fortitude and self-assurance vital for navigating life beyond the game. Allison spent 13 years as the head women’s soccer coach at Idaho State University, where she became their winningest coach in university history, and three-time Big Sky Conference Coach of the Year. She played NCAA Division II college soccer at Sonoma State University, where she was twice NCAC college player of the year, two-time All American, and was inducted into the Hall of Fame. She played professionally in Japan for the Fujita FC Mercury. Allison holds a Bachelor of Arts in kinesiology from Sonoma State University and a Master of Arts in organizational leadership from the University of San Francisco. She also holds a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) A license and a United Soccer Coaches’ premier diploma, their highest coaching accreditation. Allison is married with three adult children. She lives in Meridian and enjoys golfing and spending time in the outdoors with her three dogs.

As a video producer at North by Northwest Productions (NxNW), Julie Grant has seen inside many industries and organizations. From re-creating crime scenes, to making it rain waffle fries; from interviews on cutting-edge technology, to booking round-trip flights for a live frog — every day provides a new and interesting challenge. Julie creates budgets, then builds teams to include directors (camera, lighting, art) and audio crews; host auditions; scout locations; schedule shoots; and manage edit and sound design through client approval.

Before joining Givens Pursley in 2021, Morgan clerked for Judge Richard C. Tallman of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Before law school, Morgan worked as a musician, performing and teaching piano and fiddle. Morgan received a bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance from Westmont College, and her law degree from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University, where she was selected to receive the John S. Armstrong Award for the outstanding graduate in her class. In her free time, Morgan enjoys exploring Idaho’s beautiful outdoors with her husband and two young sons.

Julie became an employee at NxNW after freelancing for the company for 12 years. She has held her current position for 15 years. Before her time at NxNW, Julie worked freelance as a graphic designer and photography producer for 15 years. She has also worked as a server, bartender, and grocery clerk. An Idaho native, Julie graduated from Minico High School in Rupert, moved to Oregon, and attended college. She left school, moved to California, then returned to Idaho to raise her two children. She returned to college, majoring in commercial art and photography. When she landed a job with a health-food company, her family moved to Boise. Julie enjoys her family and friends, hiking in the foothills, remodeling, attending local theater, cooking, hosting parties, and adventuring with her soon-to-be husband.

Manager, Scheduling & Customer Support Montana Dakota Utilities Intermountain Gas Company Sadye Haylett, Manager of Scheduling and Customer Support for MDU Resources, oversees the day-to-day responsibilities of two talented teams. Her duties include oversight of field resource management and dispatching emergency response of field personnel. Additionally, she manages the customer service group handling email, chat, and phone, serving customers across eight states and four brands. Sadye joined MDU in 2009 as a customer service representative. She became a team lead a year into her career, then accepted a supervisory position for Customer Support in 2015. In 2018, she was given the added responsibility to supervise scheduling and later promoted to manager of these two extraordinary teams in December 2021. In each of these roles, Sadye has actively participated to align and improve business processes with the end goal being great customer service to internal and external customers. Sadye was born and raised in the Treasure Valley, currently residing in Meridian with her husband Lee and their two sons who keep them busy traveling with a competitive soccer club. She enjoys spending time at their cabin, four-wheeling, and hunting. Sadye loves any opportunity to celebrate those around her, and their achievements and accomplishments. Jordan Heller

Deputy General Counsel St. Luke’s Health System Jordan Heller serves as deputy general counsel for St. Luke’s. She leads the legal department’s Transactions & Governance practice group, providing strategic legal advice on board oversight, financing, and technology. She also oversees St. Luke’s real estate operations, including helping to launch St. Luke’s employee housing program in communities acutely impacted by housing shortages. Before joining St. Luke’s over 10 years ago, Jordan was an attorney in the San Francisco and New York offices of an international law firm, where she practiced antitrust and appellate litigation and was honored for her pro bono service with the Lawyers’ Committee on Civil Rights. Jordan served as a law clerk to the Honorable Linda Copple Trout on the Idaho Supreme Court. Jordan grew up in Boise and attended Boise public schools. She completed her undergraduate degree at Princeton University, where she majored in history. Jordan received her law degree from Harvard Law School. Jordan serves on the boards of the Boise Public Schools Foundation and the Frank Church Institute at Boise State University. Holly has been with Boise Cascade for 34 years. She works closely with clients in the retail, consumer products, and software as a service industries to discuss the results of work performed and resolve any accounting, auditing, and reporting matters. She also leads multiple groups within the local Boise office, such as the KPMG Network of Women, Recruiting, and the Local Action Committee. Alyssa has been with KPMG for six years.

Kimberly Li recruits new members/coaches and handles advertising for Splash Swim Clinic (operates the website, creates the posters, and designs). Her involvement with Splash Swim Clinic is a summer job, which she does every year.

Alyssa holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Idaho. She is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Alyssa lives in Boise and enjoys taking trips to the Oregon Coast with her three dogs, camping, and watching reality TV.

While Kimberly does not hold a degree now, she is actively involved in extracurricular activities and never passes up new opportunities for the chance to learn and grow. Since she is a sophomore in high school, Kimberly has not been to college, but that is her plan. Kimberly has been a competitive swimmer for 10 years, and it is still her favorite of the sports she has participated in. Her family (mom, dad, and dog) lives in Boise. They enjoy traveling.

Splash Swim Clinic is a non-profit swim lesson program aimed to inspire young kids to swim through fun and quality stroke instructions. Throughout the summer we have accumulated over 200 volunteer hours, collectively and raised over $3000 to be donated to the WCA.

Dr. JoAnn S. Lighty is the dean of the College of Engineering at Boise State University and professor of mechanical and biomedical engineering, positions she has held since 2017. She holds a Bachelor of Science and PhD in chemical engineering, both from the University of Utah (UU). As dean, COEN has had a continued commitment to excellence in research and collaborations with industry. With over 3,000 students, scholarships have been a sharp focus during JoAnn’s time as dean — with annual scholarship support nearly tripling to over $500,000.

Andrea Lohse currently serves as the Regional Director of Marketing with Saint Alphonsus Health System in Boise. She leads the marketing team, working directly with organizational and physician leadership to build and strengthen the brand of the organization and drive strategic growth. During her time at Saint Alphonsus, Andrea has held many roles, all within the Marketing and Communications team. Before beginning her work at Saint Alphonsus, Andrea attended the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho and graduated with a degree in Public Communication and a double emphasis in sociology and writing.

From 2013 through2017 JoAnn served as a division director at the National Science Foundation. Prior to Boise State, JoAnn was a professor of chemical engineering at UU, where she held several leadership positions. Throughout her academic career, JoAnn has fiercely advocated for equity and inclusion in engineering. She is a fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) and the American Association of the Advancement of Science. She has served on national boards and committees focusing on the environmental aspects of combustion.

Andrea was honored to participate in the Boise Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Boise program and in 2023, and she was recognized as one of Idaho Business Review’s Accomplished under 40. Andrea has volunteered for the Festival of Trees, Capitol Classic Children’s Race, and University of Idaho Scholarship Fund Board. Currently, she serves on the board of the Women’s Healthcare Fund. In her free time, Andrea enjoys skiing and hiking in the outdoors with her husband Hans, son Otto, and goldendoodle Kevin.

Dr. Lighty and her husband have two grown daughters who are both industrial designers. She is a lifetime girl scout and board member of the Girls Scouts of Silver Sage. Her hobbies include camping and crocheting.

Cherise Longoria serves as the administrator of student support services for the Boise School District. She provides oversight and leadership in the following areas: counseling and social work services, special education, district strategic plan, professional development, new teacher/new-to-the district orientation program, parent engagement, and preschool services. In addition, she serves on the Special Education Director’s Advisory Committee for the State Department of Education. Cherise has served public school students for 19 years. For the last 14 years, she’s worked in the Boise School District in a variety of roles — special education teacher, elementary summer school principal, special education consulting teacher, high school summer school principal, assistant principal, and special education supervisor. Cherise earned a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education and health from Eastern Oregon University, and a Master of Education and Administration degree from the University of Idaho. Cherise has demonstrated strong instructional leadership skills and is committed to the Boise School District’s vision of preparing students for success in college, career, and citizenship. She is a tireless advocate for the work of educational professionals and provides the support necessary to see that students and staff members succeed every day. Cherise and her husband Jesse have two boys, Easton who is 15, and Nolan who is 11. They enjoy weekends outdoors, time at the family cabin, paddle boarding, and traveling.

Rebecca has a bachelor’s degree in general studies, minoring in political science and history and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Boise State University (BSU). Rebecca is also an active member of her community. She can be found at Rake Up Boise, Paint the Town, participating in Idaho Food Bank activities, and volunteering during Festival at Idaho Public Television. Rebecca is an professor emeritus at BSU and is proud to instruct for the Interdisciplinary Professional Studies Program. She is a long-time promoter of education, from visiting high schools in rural Idaho to testifying for the Education Committee at the Idaho State Legislature. Rebecca is a native Idahoan, born and raised in the state. She met her husband Randy 30 years ago and convinced him to join her in Boise where they were married 29 years ago. They have a 24-year-old daughter, Mackenzie, who has devoted her career to public health and is a wonderful human being. The three of them love to travel, listen to music, and embark on new adventures with their Labrador, Indy.

Alycia Moss is an immigration attorney and partner at Hawley Troxell. She leads the immigration practice group assisting individuals, companies, and investors to navigate the complexities of the U.S. and Canadian immigration systems. Alycia joined forces with Hawley Troxell on July 1, 2023, after founding and building a successful immigration law firm. She has spoken on and taught immigration law before a variety of audiences, including the legal community, organizations, and political groups. During her 20-year career in the food industry, she has successfully achieved AA scores in all Global Food Safety Initiative audits and navigated with grace through many FDA inspections. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in food science, Lucia joined the food manufacturing world, and worked for companies such as Darigold and Leprino Foods. During her career, Lucia built long lasting relationships with outstanding individuals in the industry (including women in leadership roles). Lucia grew up on an island in the Azores Portugal. Lucia grew up on an ancestral farm, where her parents showed her that great rewards come from hard work and humility! Lucia is a single mother of three amazing humans, one dog, and one cat! She is getting married in July and honeymooning on the Oregon Coast so they can enjoy swimming and hiking. Lucia loves hiking and is planning to summit Mount Kilimanjaro in 2025! Jodie began working at Wells Fargo in 2001. After six months, she became a leader in the Wells Fargo Contact Center and eventually led over 250 employees. In addition to her professional work at Wells Fargo, Jodie also enjoys giving back to her community through volunteer and service opportunities. She currently serves as the President of Wells Fargo’s Idaho Employee Impact Team (EIT), where she is responsible for leading Wells Fargo’s volunteer efforts and employee engagement across the state of Idaho. Beyond her work in leadership and public service, Jodie is also a devoted wife, mother, and daughter. She was married to her husband Nate on March 3, 2023 (03/03/03), on her snowboard at Bogus Basin. Sara began her career in the United States Army with 11 years of active-duty service. She was stationed at the 121st Combat Support Hospital in Seoul, Korea where she was department chief, and deployed to the 10th Combat Support Hospital in Baghdad, Iraq. Rebecca Tyree, RRT Registered Respiratory Therapist, Maternal-Child Transport Team St. Luke’s Air

Rebecca Tyree is a registered respiratory therapist with the Air St. Luke’s maternal-child transport team. This is a critical care team who specialize in the care of high-risk pregnancies, premature infants, and children. Rebecca is part of a two-person team responsible for the care, stabilization, resuscitation, and transport of the patient. Patients are transported by fixed-wing aircraft, helicopter, or ambulance. Rebecca began her career with St. Luke’s in the Neonatal Intensive Care unit. After nearly 10 years of caring for infants and children in the hospital setting, she joined Air St. Luke’s in 2022. This position presented her with an entirely new set of challenges and adventure. Rebecca graduated at the top of her class from Louisiana State University with a bachelor’s degree in cardiopulmonary science and an award for outstanding student. She is a registered respiratory therapist and is currently working on an additional certification in neonatal pediatric transport. Rebecca’s greatest love is her family. She and her husband, Mike, have five amazing children — two boys and three girls. She has an adventurous spirit and makes it a priority to share that with her family. Every year they camp, hike, and explore her favorite place, the outdoors.

Kimberly Watson

SVP Loan Operations Manager Sunwest Bank Kimberly Watson joined Sunwest Bank in 2020 to transition the loan servicing team from Irvine, California, to Nampa, Idaho. In 2023, the loan documentation team was also brought under her leadership. Kimberly is currently senior vice president (SVP) loan operations manager. Her team is responsible for a variety of tasks, including preparing loan documents; onboarding loans; and escrow, payments, and payoffs for commercial and consumer loans. Kimberly started her career in banking with Wells Fargo Bank in 2000. She held several collections roles before she joined the business banking loan operations group in 2009. She learned end-to-end loan processing and held many leadership and risk-management roles. She became an expert in the Flood Disaster Protection Act and had the opportunity to interact with many auditors and regulators. Kimberly graduated from the University of Utah with a bachelor’s degree in English. She is currently attending Pacific Coast Bank School at the University of Washington and will graduate in 2025. Kimberly lives in Kuna with her husband of 20 years, Eric. They have four daughters, ages 13, 14, 16, and 17. When they’re not at one of their daughters’ basketball games, they enjoy playing with their dogs — Baxter and Aspen, hiking, and going on cruises.

Sr. Director, Consumer Access and Experience Operations St. Luke’s Health System Erin Wiedenfeld serves as the senior director of consumer access and experience operations at St. Luke’s, contributing over two decades of healthcare leadership modernizing consumer engagement and streamlining service access. During her 25-year tenure, Erin has held progressive leadership responsibilities across numerous areas of patient access and call center operations. Erin excels in critical analysis, problem-solving, and data driven decision making, but her passion is building relationships with colleagues and her team. Erin’s ability to see the humans behind the processes has positioned her to mentor above, alongside, and below. She sets the pace for excellence and is viewed as an expert in developing a culture of learning and growth within her operations. Erin’s prior leadership roles include director of Patient Access Services and senior manager of Patient Access System Applications. Each role demands a diverse skill set, emotional intelligence, and a commitment to organizational successes and mission. Erin pursued general coursework at Boise State University, complementing her hands-on experience with foundational knowledge.

Rainelle Wolf

Branch Operations Manager Idaho First Bank Rainelle Wolf serves as the branch operations manager for Idaho First Bank’s Eagle branch. She works with her team daily making sure they are trained properly and ensuring they have all the resources needed to succeed. Rainelle also works closely with all customers to ensure they are taken care of to the best of her ability. Rainelle started in banking in 1997 as a teller. Two years later, she moved to a small community bank, where she fell in love with community banking. She stayed there for 17 years, learning all aspects of the operations side of the bank. In 2016, Rainelle had the opportunity to help start the Eagle branch of Idaho First Bank. Rainelle and her family live in Eagle. She is a mom of two beautiful girls and is married to the man of her dreams. She has been a regular volunteer at the Eagle community food bank for seven years. Rainelle is very family forward and enjoys having family dinners every Sunday at her house. As much as Rainelle loves her Eagle life, she can be found in Ketchum often with her girlfriends taking in all the beautiful town has to offer.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Erin cherishes family time with her husband and three children, finding solace and joy in the Idaho outdoors. Her balanced approach reflects her dedication to both personal fulfillment and professional excellence.

The Joyce Stein Memorial Award

Honoring Those Who Make a Positive Impact on the Growth and Advancement of Women

In 1973, Joyce Stein participated in a new women’s group that began as the result of a women’s conference held at Boise State College. The group wanted to continue discussions surrounding women’s issues and joined with the YWCA to open the Women’s Center in the basement of the YWCA. Joyce Stein, as a founding member and the first director of the Women’s Center, took on the issue of sexism in our community. As the group studied the prevalence of the issue, they came to the conclusion that domestic violence was a pressing problem—which led to the YWCA’s involvement in the prevention of domestic violence. The elimination of sexism and domestic violence became the foundation for the organization’s work. After her untimely death in 1979, the YWCA (now the WCA) named its highest award in her memory and has awarded this special recognition every year since 1980.

04.24.24 Why denim? In 1992 an 18-year-old Italian girl was sexually assaulted by her driving instructor. While he was initially convicted of the crime and sent to prison, the ruling was later overturned by the Italian Supreme Court because the justices felt that because the victim wore tight jeans, she must have helped remove them thereby making the act consensual. The following day, the women of the Italian Legislature protested this decision by wearing jeans to work. As news of the decision spread, so did the protests. In 1999, Peace Over Violence, an agency in Los Angeles, CA established the first Denim Day in the US, a tradition that has grown and continued since. WCABOISE.ORG
