INFORMATION SHEET FOR PARTICIPANTS Antidepressant use during pregnancy: Are primary healthcare providers all on the same page? Thank you for showing an interest in this project. Please read this information sheet carefully and take time to consider before deciding whether to participate. If you decide to participate, we thank you. If you decide not to take part, there will be no disadvantage to you, and we thank you for considering our request. This study is being carried out by researchers at the School of Pharmacy, University of Otago. This project is being undertaken by Lucy Broughton as part of her PhD thesis.
What is the aim of this project? Approximately 12% of pregnant women/people experience clinically significant symptoms of depression during their pregnancy. The decision of whether to use antidepressants during pregnancy requires careful consideration of the risks of untreated depression against the risks of foetal exposure to medication. The objective of this survey is to explore primary health care provider knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding the pharmacological management of perinatal depression.
Who is funding this project? This study is funded by a University of Otago doctoral scholarship.
Who are we seeking to participate in the project? We would like to survey NZ registered midwives and general practitioners who may be involved in the care of pregnant women/people with depressive disorders.
If you participate, what will you be asked to do? Should you choose to participate in this study you will be asked to complete an online survey by clicking on the link provided in the email invitation. The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. Please be aware that you may decide not to take part in the project without any disadvantage to yourself. As a thank you for participating, you will receive an invitation at the end of the survey to enter a draw to win one of four $50 gift vouchers.
