Participation in the WISHES program is a great way to help your child build confidence and self-esteem, explore interests in greater depth and develop new hobbies and recreational interests. There is a handy chart on the inside back cover to help you plan your summer! Please note the location of each class. Most classes will be held at Plymouth Creek Elementary – 16005 41st Ave N and Central Middle School – 305 Vicksburg Lane, Plymouth MN. Transportation is NOT provided. Cool Things to Do With Cardboard Art Camp Grades K-4 Learn how to make the coolest things from cardboard! We’ll make a 6 foot tall Robot, a gigantic rocket and even a huge airplane you can sit inside of. After making our creations we’ll paint and decorate them using paint, construction paper, pipe cleaners, clay, bottle caps and all sorts of other fun materials. Due to the extreme size of the projects, students will not take them home, but photos will be emailed to parents. Grades K-4 Anyone can learn to be a confident artist in Abrakadoodle’s innovative drawing program where, using a step-by-step method, students learn how to draw animals, people, and landscapes using easily recognizable shapes. After the initial instruction, students will make the art their own through additional drawing techniques or by adding tempera paint, oil pastels, markers or watercolors. My Favorite Doll’s Summer Camp Grades K-4 All new lessons! Back by popular demand with new projects for 2013. Bring your favorite doll to summer camp! Over the course of the week, our dolls will go to the beach, become fashionistas, as we make clothing and accessories for our dolls, and even become rock stars. Lego Loco Art Camp Ages 4-9 Can’t get enough of your Legos at home? Want to be inspired and challenged to create new and exciting Lego art? Use your awesome Lego building skills to construct a city, imaginary creatures, race cars, and plenty of original works of art all out of Legos! We won’t use just Legos. Pinch, Slab, Coil Clay Camp Ages 4-9 It’s time for your young artist to roll up their sleeves, put on an apron and play with clay! The children will use a variety of tools and techniques to make animals, beads, bowls and much more. We will work with both air-dry clay and Model Magic®. We will even mix up some batches of homemade clay with crazy ingredients like Kool Aid! The children will use their fingers to pinch, assemble a slab, and create coils as they learn the basics of working with clay. This is a great camp for siblings to take together! Project Runway - 2013 Grades 2-6 Get ready for your very own PROJECT RUNWAY FASHION SHOW exhibiting projects, designs, accessories and crafts made with your own hands, style and flair! No experience necessary. We’ll show you the ropes. Students will make and take home multiple projects: a sun dress, a tote bag, sunglass case, a satchel and more. Students can also accessorize to their heart’s delight with our anklet and bracelet crafts. Advanced students can expand their skills with hand embroidery or ornamental applique and doll clothes. Students will also learn sewing basics like cross-stitching, straight-stitching, using a sewing machine and sewing by hand. We’ll also learn how to sew buttons, patch a tear and follow basic designs. Woodworking Grades 2-6 All new variety of projects. A wooden airplane, bird feeder, checkers game and rope ladder are on tap for summer 2013. No experience? No worries. We’ll show you the ropes (get it...ropes...rope ladder...I digress). Make, paint and take home 4-5 different projects while learning the rudiments of craftsmanship, including: measuring, safely cutting and crosscutting, drilling, clamping, hammering and more. SAFETY IS OUR FIRST PRIORITY. No power tools will be used in class and every student wears safety goggles the entire class. Parents: Clothes may get paint or sawdust on them. Computer & Technology Clay Animation

Girls and Gadgets

Ages 5-10 Clay and Digital Animation; what a perfect combination! Working in teams, students do it all - from story creation to making the characters and sets. Students will create their own clay characters and props. As they learn the production process, they will animate, record, download, assemble and edit their own movie. Students will become cinematographers as they create their own unique productions. Using the same tools used by today’s best known animators, this course will spark their imaginations, and then give them the tools to bring their ideas to life. Fun, learning and excitement go hand-in-hand in this special class. Student groups’ final movies will be emailed to parents, or students may bring a USB jump drive the last day to take home their films immediately. Grades 1-4 We will explore robotics and engineering in fun hands-on activities. In this all girls class, girls are empowered and encouraged to explore technology while applying math and science concepts to complete projects. During portions of the class, students will be working in small teams and individually. Digital Film Making and Production Grades 4-7 Become the writers, directors, actors, and special effects creators & editors of our own movie production. From storyboarding to filming, you will make all of the creative & technical decisions. You will be able to share your movie with friends and family and hear the applause. Learn shooting and editing techniques. You will be working in teams to create a story, then write a script. Be the on-air reporter or producer of a news, weather or sports show! We will be using HD Video Cameras, while experiencing every stage of production, including planning scripting, shooting, and editing. Students will be working in teams to create a commercial and a news story. Student photography release must be signed for class. Minecrafting Basics Grades 1-5 Minecraft is the game phenomenon focused on creativity and building, allowing players to build environments out of textured cubes in a virtual 3D world. In our camp, students working in pairs, will be introduced to Minecraft on PC and in real life with our customized Legos, and finally film a stop motion movie using Minecraftinspired Lego creations. Minecraft computer time will be limited to 45 minutes a day. During this time, students will be following “recipes” and create virtual structures and machines. Then the focus will be on creating Minecraft-inspired Lego worlds, and filming. Students will take home 3 Lego Microfigs, and an animated movie to show off their creations. Star Wars Jedi Movie Making Ages 5-10 From a galaxy far, far away, Star Wars comes to life! Work on a stop motion animated Lego Star Wars Movie. Pick your characters to star in your own minimovie...the possibilities are endless. Star Wars action figures, Legos, backdrops will be available for filming in class. Handle all of the technical details including using a digital movie camera, filming scenes, stopmotion animation, downloading footage to the computer, digital editing and adding finishing special effects and transitions to the movie. In this exciting hands-on learning class, our instructors will take your student through the entire digital film making steps from start to finish using Frames Software. Student groups’ final projects will be emailed to parents, or students may bring a USB jump drive the last day to take home their films immediately. Video Game Design Jr. Ages 5-8 Create YOUR OWN VIDEO GAME! Love video games? Students as young as 5 years old can create their own platform video games in this cool class! Choose your storyline with dragons, princesses, or wild wacky aliens; add challenges and levels of difficulty, then share by email or post on the web to challenge family and friends. Now the 5-8 year olds can practice math, logic, and programming and put their video game talents to work! Game will be in an animated flash format, viewable in most internet browsers. Grades 2-5 Brand New Class! Build robotics and use them as controllers for your Scratch video game animation projects!! All new learning projects. You and your partner will use LEGO Robotics kits to build a controller for your Scratch game (think Wii). This amazing course uses the most innovative tools available to experiment with robots & sensors that communicate with the computer to control your games! XBox/PC 3D Video Game Programming Grades 1-5 Learn to create 3D games and challenge your friends on an Xbox 360® or a Windows PC. Kodu, Microsoft’s award-winning game design platform, is a new visual programming language that runs both on the Xbox 360 and Windows PC. We will be creating games for the PC version using Xbox controllers. Students working in pairs will learn the art of rapid game design and develop an understanding of underlying game mechanics. Students can choose from 20 different game characters – including flying saucers, submarines, and a Pac Man-like Kodu main character – then use an interactive terrain editor, a bridge and path builder, and other tools to create their own 3D game world. Kodu is available for Xbox for about $5 or as a free download for Windows. Games created are platform specific, but the programming environment is the same in both. Skateboard Camps Provided By 3rd Lair Skate Park Ages 5-15 3rd Lair Skateboard Camps are designed for all ages and abilities. We teach the basics of skateboarding as well as help more advanced individuals take their skating to the next level. Our professional instructors share their love of the sport in a fun and supportive environment designed to foster confidence and build skills. Skateboard Camps run from 9 am to noon. There is complimentary open skate after camp until the park closes - a whole day of fun! Parents should plan to stay and supervise students who stay for open skate. We provide any equipment and pads you need free of charge. We provide small group instruction based on skill level so everyone feels supported and challenged. Elementary Track Event Grades K-6 The Wayzata High School Track and Field Coaches are offering track meet events for boys and girls in Grades K-6. Students will be divided by age group, with the youngest age groups starting first. Ribbons will be awarded to the first six placers. Participants need to bring running shoes and a water bottle. All participants registered by JUNE 1st will receive a track t-shirt on the first day of the meet. Events will be coordinated by WHS Track and Field Coaches, Assistant Coaches and volunteer high school track students. Parents are expected to stay for the entire event to supervise their children. For information on weather cancellations visit www.wayzatatrack.org. We are unable to offer a rain date this year. Refunds cannot be given for cancelled classes due to weather. Parents will be asked to sign a concussion agreement during the registration process. WISHES Registration Information It’s easy to register for WISHES classes online 24/7. Using your Visa /MasterCard/Discover, you can register immediately online at: www.ceregistration.wayzata.k12.mn.us Please note: Parents must register the child that is taking the class (child’s name must show on the roster). Please do not register yourself. Make sure to note at which school the class is being held.

WISHES registrations may not be sent or dropped off at your child’s school or Home Base site. They are not permitted to accept them. Confirmations/Waitlist You will receive an email confirmation ONLY if you provide an email address when you register online. Otherwise, assume you are in the class unless you hear from us. If you waitlist your child, you will be called ONLY if a spot becomes available. Cancellations • You will receive a full refund, if you cancel 3 business days (M-F) before the class starts. • NO Refunds will be issued the day of the class or after the class starts. • We reserve the right to cancel classes due to low enrollment. • Inclement Weather: If school is canceled or dismissed early due to severe weather, WISHES classes will be canceled.
