College Applications: How to Ace the College Interview from an Actual Interviewer More and more high school students are interviewing with local alumni as part of their college application process. Some students even interview on-campus (if they are offered). Yet, few students come to these interviews prepared for the questions asked, how their responses are interpreted, and how the interview fits into the entire college application process. Jason Lum currently interviews students for two Top 20 universities (Harvard and Washington University in St. Louis). This new class showcases, for the first time, tips gained by the instructor from 15 years of interviewing Minnesota high school students. College & Career Center For many parents, surviving the terrible twos, potty training and driving lessons was a cake-walk compared to navigating the postsecondary college process. There’s no need in reverting to temper tantrums or sending your child to their room to make it through. And no dunce hats for anyone, because even if you made it into college when you were 18, times have changed and the process is different. Let the counseling staff at WHS and the resources of the CCC help you. The CCC, open daily from 7:00 – 3:00 and during conferences, is for parents as much or more than for students. Bring your questions about college, financial aid, scholarships, the FAFSA, ACT/SAT tests and more. Questions: Heather McGinis, CCC Coordinator, 763-745-6639, heather.mcginnis@wayzata.k12.mn.us

45th Anniversary! July of 1969 will be remembered for centuries to come as the first time that mankind ventured beyond the earth’s boundaries and explored a new world. There were many forces, political, social and fiscal, at work that led us to the moon. In 1961, President Kennedy challenged us to go to the moon before the end of the decade, and this challenge is often cited as the reason for this success. However, without a number of other factors in place during the 1950s and 1960s, there is little doubt that the mission to the moon would have either failed or not been attempted at all. This presentation will not focus on rocket launches, orbital mechanics and fuel payloads. Instead it will be a discussion of the goal itself and what helped us to accomplish it. #APOLLO-F1-14 Saturday, Oct. 25 10:00 - 11:30 am $9 for 1 class Central Middle School - Media Center PresentaƟon Area David Jones

Prohibition - A Grand Misadventure In 1920, the United States entered a period during which the manufacture, sale, and transportation of intoxicating liquors was banned. As it turned out, the US also entered a period of lawlessness and corruption, unequaled in its history. Many Prohibition supporters felt that the passage of the 18th Amendment would bring about law and order and restore the family. However, numerous unintended consequences make this period one of the most fascinating misadventures of all time. Prohibition A Grand Misadventure In 1920, the United States entered a period during which the manufacture, sale, and transportation of intoxicating liquors was banned.
