PARENT NEWSLETTER Here to provide you insight, updates, and information on your student's experience at WU
Updates from the Dean Dear Parent or Guardian: I hope you had a wonderful summer. Our faculty and staff at Waynesburg University have been very busy welcoming back all of our students for another great academic year! The university is off to an amazing start, and there are lots of great things happening on campus. Student Engagement will be offering a variety of both on- and off-campus opportunities for the entire student body. They hosted their annual on-campus tie-dye and ice cream social and the ever-popular Bingo! Off-campus, students will have the opportunity to travel to a Pittsburgh Pirates Game, attend a Pittsburgh Steelers game, and go to Kennywood Amusement Park. The Center for Service Leadership is offering domestic and international service trips for winter, spring and summer breaks, connecting our mission of faith, learning and service. Please encourage your student to explore the Service Tab, located on myConnect, for additional information. As the Dean of Students, I am committed to helping your students grow in all areas of life outside the classroom. As always, we are here to support your student and assist you with any questions along the way. Please do not hesitate to contact us at (724) 852-3206. Best wishes for an extraordinary Waynesburg Experience, and GO JACKETS! Blessings, Kelley M. Hardie, Assistant Vice President of Student Development, Dean of Students, and Title IX Coordinator

Everbridge Everbridge Emergency Emergency Notifications Notifications The beginning of the Fall semester each year is the perfect time to register your cell phone or other contact information with Waynesburg University’s Everbridge Emergency Alert system. Registration is fast, simple and accessible through myConnect on the main page. Every student and employee with a “waynesburg.edu” address is automatically notified via email in the event of a crisis situation, weather emergency, or campus closure, etc. However, updating cell or home phone information ensures your student is immediately informed of an evolving incident through phone calls and SMS text messages as well. This is just one of the many ways Waynesburg University’s security operations works hard to keep its campus community safe. Any questions about Waynesburg‘s Security Operations or Emergency Management can be directed to Tim Gilbert, director for the Department of Public Safety, at tgilbert@waynesburg.edu.
EDsights Waynesburg University is excited to inform you about an exciting behaviorally smart SMS chatbot program we are implementing this year to help with our efforts to maintain connections with your student, increase persistence, and retain them. We have partnered with EdSights for this program. EdSights has built a chatbot that will interact with our students via text message and named after our mascot, Sting. The chatbot will check in with our students about their experience at Waynesburg University and will provide them with resources for any struggles they might face. In addition, just like "Siri" or "Alexa," Sting can answer students’ questions across a broad range of campus topics specific to Waynesburg University. We are bringing Sting to life as a chatbot as a way for us to provide additional support to your student and meet them where they are by answering their questions and communicate important information in a more intentional and timely manner. It is also great for Sting to hear student feedback and create a virtual community.
Walmart Delivery Information When placing a Walmart order for delivery, or any other special orders, please ensure your student is available at the time of drop-off. The campus mailroom is NOT open 24/7, and Waynesburg University is NOT responsible for packages that are delivered and left unattended on campus grounds. Waynesburg University is also NOT responsible for the refrigeration of cold items such as groceries. To avoid issues, students should coordinate delivery times so they can personally receive their orders. Your paragraph text
