ORDER OF WORSHIP

+ Please stand as you are able. Sunday, May

Prelude | Selah & Te Deum Bell Choirs | Ryan Fleming, Director Ride the Chariot Traditional Spiritual Arranged by William Henry Smith, 1939 Adapted for handbells by Scott McGlasson

+ Call to Worship Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of God’s glory. Let us worship the Triune God together.

+ Hymn 1:

Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty

+ Call to Confession

+ Prayer of Confession

God of grace, love, and communion, we confess that we have failed to love you with all our heart, soul, and mind; and to love our neighbor as ourselves. We ignore your commandments, stray from your way, and follow other gods.

Have mercy on us.

Forgive our sin and raise us to new life that we may serve you faithfully and give honor to your holy name. Amen.

+ Declaration of Forgiveness Sisters and brothers, hear the good news: We did not receive the spirit of slavery, but rather the spirit of adoption. Your guilt is gone; your sin is blotted out, for you are God’s beloved children – forgiven, loved, and free. Know that you are forgiven, and be at peace. Thanks be to God.

+ Response of Praise

+ Passing of the Peace

The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. And also with you.

Baptismal Hymn 377: I Want to Walk as a Child of the Light (Verse 1)

+ Affirmation of Faith | The Apostles’ Creed I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead.

On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, is seated at the right hand of the Father, and will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

SUPPORT THE 2026 YOUTH MINISTRY RETREAT RETREAT

ONE PUZZLE PIECE AT A TIME

Your contribution helps to offset the cost of the 2026 Montreat Youth Trip. Find the table in the Connector following worship to purchase puzzle pieces for $20 each. Each piece purchased brings us closer to revealing a photo from last year ’ s Montreat experience, and helps our youth flourish in faith, friendship, and service. Let’s complete the puzzle together to empower our youth on their journeys to discipleship! Donations can be made in-person or on our website.

For over 15 years, our church has collected fans for neighbors in Southwest Philadelphia through our CityLights program. Many in the community— families with young children, seniors, and those with health concerns—depend on fans to stay safe during the summer heat.
