Seventh Sunday after Pentecost

Karl Jenkins (b. 1944)

We will sing of your steadfast love, OLord, forever; with our mouths we will proclaim your faithfulness to all generations. We declare that your steadfast love is established forever; your faithfulness is as firm as the heavens.

+ Hymn 663:

Awake My Soul , and with the Sun

+ Call to Confession

+ Prayer of Confession

MORNING HYMN

O Lord, you who are faithful throughout all generations, righteous in your judgments, marvelous in strength and excellence, you who are good, and faithful toward those who trust in you, you who show pity and compassion: Forgive us our sins, our unrighteousness, our transgressions, and our shortcomings. Do not hold us to account for every sin, but cleanse us with the cleansing of your truth. Guide our steps to walk in holiness, righteousness, and singleness of heart. Help us to do those things that are good and pleasing in your sight. Amen.

+ Declaration of Forgiveness

The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. Seek the Lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near; let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous one his thoughts; let us return to the Lord, that God may have compassion on is, and to our God, for God will abundantly pardon. Hear the Good News: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.

+ Response of Praise GLORIA PATRI (Greatorex)

+ Passing of the Peace

The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. And also with you.

Awake My Heart

William Billings (1746-1800)

Awake my heart , arise my tongue, prepare a tuneful voice; In God , the life of all my joys, a loud will I rejoice. And lest the shadow of a spot should on my soul be found , God took the robe the Savior wrought, and wrapp'd me all around. The Spirit wrought my faith and love , and hope, and ev ' ry grace; But Jesus spent his life to work the robe of righteousness. Strangely my soul , art thou array'd by the great sacred Three! In sweetest harmony of praise let all thy pow ' rs agree. - Issac Watts (1674-1748)

Sermon | “Grace Under Pressure” | The Rev. Ryan Balsan

Time for Reflection

+ Affirmation of Faith | The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, is seated at the right hand of the Father, and will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Send the Fire

Victor C. Johnson (b. 1978)

Send the fire , Lord , send the flame , Spirit come in Jesus’ name. Send the fire , Lord , send the flame , let the church God’s praise proclaim! Like a rushing mighty wind , came the Spirit down on them. Hearts were burning, fear was gone. They stood up and raised a song! Breathe on us , O breath of grace, fill this dry and weary place. Speak through us with tongues of light. Shine through darkness and break the night!
