Prelude | John Grecia, organ Reflection on ‘Adoro Te Devote’ Andrew Moore (b. 1954)

+ Call to Worship | Psalm 27

The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?

The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When evildoers assail me to devour my flesh my adversaries and foes—they shall stumble and fall. For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble; he will conceal me under the cover of his tent; he will set me high on a rock.

+ Hymn 240:

Alleluia , Alleluia! Give Thanks

+ Call to Confession

+ Prayer of Confession

ALLELUIA No. 1

Merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart and mind and strength. We have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. In your mercy forgive what we have been, help us amend what we are, and direct what we shall be, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name. Amen.

+ Declaration of Forgiveness | Romans 8

Hear the good news! Who is in a position to condemn? Only Christ, and Christ died for us, Christ rose for us, Christ reigns in power for us, Christ prays for us. Anyone who is in Christ is a new creation. The old life has gone; a new life has begun. Know that you are forgiven and at peace. Thanks be to God!

+ Response of Praise

+ Passing of the Peace

The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. And also with you.

CELTIC ALLELUIA

+ Hymn 629: ST. AGNES Jesus, the Very Thought of Thee

Scripture Reading | Ephesians 2:1-10

Anthem | Quartet French Traditional | Arr. Simon Lindley (1948-2025

Now the Green Blade Riseth

Now the green blade riseth from the buried grain. Wheat that in dark earth many days has lain; Love live again, that with the dead has been: Love is come again, like wheat that springeth green. In the grave they laid him , Love whom men had slain , Thinking that never he would wake again, Laid in the earth he the grain that sleeps un seen. Love is come again, like wheat that springeth green. Lord in the earth like grain that sleeps unseen: Love is come again, like wheat that springeth green. Forth he came at Easter like the risen grain. He that for three days in the grave had lain. Quick from the dead my risen Lord is seen: Love is come again, like wheat that springeth green. When our hearts are wintry, grieving, or in pain, Thy touch can call us back to life again. Fields of our hearts that dead and bare have been: Love is come again, like wheat that springeth green. - John M. C. Crum (1872-1958)

Sermon | “Sola Gratia: What’s So Amazing About Grace?” | The Rev. Timothy Pretz

Time for Reflection

+ Affirmation of Faith | from The Book of Common Worship

This is the good news which we have received, In which we stand, and by which we are saved, if we hold it fast: That Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, That he was buried, and that he was raised on the third day, And that he appeared first to the women, then to Peter, and to the Twelve, And then to many faithful witnesses. We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God. Jesus Christ is the first and the last, the beginning and the end; He is our Lord and our God. Amen.
