(2nd Part of “April Fools: The Danger of Spiritual Foolishness” Series)
Many of us laugh on April Fools’ Day, but Scripture reveals a deeper reality: there is a real enemy who operates through deception, not jokes. From the beginning, the battle has always been about truth. In Genesis 3:1 (NLT), the serpent approaches Eve, not with an obvious lie, but with a twist: “....Did God really say you must not eat the fruit from any of the trees in the garden?”

by God became negotiable in her mind. This is how deception works: it shifts your perspective until wrong feels reasonable. Scripture warns us in 2 Timothy 4:3 (NLT), “For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear.” Many want a version of truth that affirms their desires instead of transforming their hearts. However, real truth does not comfort sin; it confronts it.
The Solid Rock
This question was subtle, yet dangerous. The enemy did not deny God outright, he distorted what he said. That is still his strategy today. The enemy knows Scripture. He even used it when tempting Jesus in the wilderness. He twists, misapplies, or distorts the truth just enough to create confusion. Deception rarely comes as a bold lie; it often comes wrapped in something that sounds almost right.
Itchy Ears
Eve’s downfall did not begin with action; it began with entertaining a distorted truth. As she listened, her flesh was drawn in. What once was clearly commanded
We are living in a time where absolute truth is being compromised. As a result, many people no longer know what to believe. This confusion is not accidental; it is spiritual. The battle today is not just about opinions or perspectives; it is a battle for truth. That is why we must have a solid foundation. Jesus declares in Matthew 7:24 (NLT), “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock.”
The Word of God is that solid rock. It is not just a book; it is the truth that has stood the test of time. Its prophetic accuracy, historical consistency, and enduring power reveal that it can be trusted. Isaiah
40:8 (NLT) declares, “The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the Word of our God stands forever.” Jesus also said, in Matthew 24:35 (CSB), “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.”
Study
If you do not study the Word for yourself, you will be vulnerable to confusion. The enemy cannot deceive someone who knows the truth. Jesus proclaimed in John 8:31-32 (NASB), “...If you continue in My word, then you are truly My disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” Every believer must understand that God’s Word is reliable, unchanging, and trustworthy. Refuse to settle for distorted truth. Stand firm in what God has said.
Let’s Pray:
“Lord, you are the way, the truth and the life; I will praise you all of my days. Please help me to understand the Bible. Lead and guide me into all truth by your Holy Spirit. I pray for discernment, so I won’t be drawn to half truths and traditions of men. Lord, I choose to let the Bible be the authority in my life. In Jesus’ mighty name, I pray. Amen.”
CONNECTING TO GOD:
If you’ve never established a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, I encour-

age you to open your heart to God’s love and grace today. Acknowledge your need for forgiveness and ask the Lord to cleanse you from all sin. Turn away from behaviors and attitudes that separate you from God. Surrender your life completely to Him and invite Jesus to become both your Savior and Lord. Seek out a Bible-believing church where you can grow spiritually and serve others. Begin cultivating a meaningful relationship with God by setting aside daily time for Bible reading and prayer.

There’s nothing like barreling down the lake in the spring or summer at 5:00 in the morning. The cool mist will wake up anyone. But it’s not really the air that is alarming, it’s the possibility of a big bass that is ready for breakfast – buzz bait style. To see the calm water come to life with a massive explosion is fishing at its finest. There is, however, a technique for this type of fishing. Most people set the hook when they see the bass strike. That is a big mistake. You just missed another one. The art of catching bass on a buzz bait is not to set the hook when you see the bass strike but to wait until you feel the tug. The time between the two may only be a second but it’s the difference between success and failure. It is a hard discipline for some because we are so used to responding immediately to sight. It looks like a strike. It looks like I’ve got him. It looks like he’s on. But he’s not. Not until you feel the tug.

This is a great lesson for life. Most of the time, we live our lives according to what we see. And we react accordingly. We think whatever the circumstances look like, that is what they must be. If it looks hopeless, it must be. If it looks like the end, it must be. If it looks like there is no way out, there must not be. And we react accordingly. There is, however, a mechanism that God has placed within us. It’s a tug. It’s the voice of God saying, don’t walk by sight, but by faith. It is him saying don’t ever count the situation hopeless until I have been added to the equation. It is him saying, no matter how bleak the circumstance is, I will have the last word. Friend, don’t set the hook on your circumstances at the first sight of trouble. Wait on the tug of God and he will turn every situation into one that is worth keeping.

A family from way back in the hills went to the big city for the first time in their lives. They had some financial business that needed to be taken care of at a certain bank. When the family arrived at the bank, their mouths dropped open because they could not believe how tall the buildings were in the city and how many cars were going up and down the streets. They were also amazed at the number of people who were all around them. This family had never seen anything like this before in their lives!

dropped open. The bank building was the fanciest thing they had never seen before.
One thing in particular stood out to the father –the elevator. The father watched as an elderly woman got on the elevator, and the door closed behind her. Then, about a minute-and-a-half later, the door reopened and out came a beautiful young woman. The father looked at his son and he said, “Son, go get your mother. I want to run her through that contraption!”
Well, the father and the son decided to go into the bank to take care of the business they had come for. So, the father left his wife and his daughter in the car. When the father and son walked into the front door of the bank, their mouths again
Most of us would love to have a new body. Too many people are in search of the perfect body! Either we weigh too much, or we have too many wrinkles, or we don’t have enough hair, or we are too short. The point is that we would like to look differently than we do right now!
But did you realize that
if you know Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, you will receive a new, glorified, perfect body one day? When will that take place? When the Rapture occurs! You ask, “What is the Rapture?” Well, the Rapture is when Jesus comes in the clouds to gather all those who have given their hearts to Him. And on that glorious day, all the saved will meet Jesus in the air, and we will go back to heaven to worship and praise and serve Him forever! And on top of that, we will receive our brand-new, resurrected, perfect bodies!

My friends, I truly believe we are living in the last days, and I believe that Jesus could come back any moment for His church. Jesus, while speaking to His disciples, in Matthew 24:42-44 said – “Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. 43 But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. 44 Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.” (NKJV)
So, as you examine your heart and your life right now, can you say that you are ready to meet Jesus? If you are only 99 percent sure that you are ready to see Jesus, then you are not ready! Right now, right where you are, I hope and pray that you will surrender yourself completely to Him. And today, I trust that you will live your life with anticipation that this could be the day that Jesus comes back. What a future you can have if Christ is number one in your life. My prayer for you is that you will let Jesus be your Lord, and you will live for Him as if today is your last day on this earth. So, again, I ask you – “Are you ready to meet Jesus?” I hope you are because today just might be the day He comes back!

“Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.”
Isaiah 45:22

This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone. And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
Acts 4:11-12

Federal, state, and local officials joined Sen. Debbie Clary, co-founder and board chair of Pinnacle Classical Academy, at the official dedication of Pinnacle Classical Academy's grade 4-12 school building at its Joes Lake Road campus on April 10.
Sen. Clary thanked the USDA for the $28 million in loans that made possible the building's construction and expansion in two phrases. Clary also thanked Holland & Hamrick Architects, TC Strickland Construction, and David Clary Construction for their roles in designing and completing the building's second phase.
"We are honored to be your partner," Robert Hosford, the USDA's State Director for Rural Development, said at the building's dedication. "I can't think of a better partner to administer your funds as a taxpayer."
Rep. Tim Moore and Sen. Ted Alexander also addressed the gathering, as did Kevin Gordon, chairman of the Cleveland

County Board of Commissioners, and Lindsay Reusser, regional director for Sen. Ted Budd.
Rep. Moore said that he was "really proud" of the development of Pinnacle Classical Academy, which Sen. Alexander described as an "exciting example" of a public-private partnership. Gordon, representing the Board of Commissioners, said that the school is a "great asset" to Cleveland County.
Pinnacle Classical Academy, a tuition-free public charter school, opened its doors as a K-6 school with 308 students in 2013. It has since grown to a K-12 school with 1,213 students. U.S. News & World Report ranks Pinnacle Classical Academy among the best elementary schools, best middle schools, and best high schools in the nation.

The City of Kings Mountain, in partnership with the Kings Mountain Gateway Trail and the Albemarle Corporation, will celebrate the 56th anniversary of Earth Day by hosting an Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 18, 2026.
Various community organizations and vendors will provide free activities.
Dino Encounters by Ross plans to bring some cool dinosaur friends to the event, including Woody the Owl. Peppy the Ghost Pepper will be there, too.
Circle M Livestock Safari Park will debut at the celebration, bringing animals from around the world to the Gateway Trail. Outdoor enthusiast and educator Spencer 2 Dogs Bolejack will return to the Gateway Trail to demonstrate survival skills and folk traditions. The event will also feature gem mining, storytelling from our friends at Project Local, face painting, woodworking, food vendors, and entertainment by The Dancing Fleas, sponsored by Metal Recycling Services.

Trinity and her litter-mate Lisabeth were rescued as very young puppies from a feral litter. They have since been raised together in a loving foster home

The Butterfly Release is by habitat. This activity supports the national and environmental cause to save our pollinators. Extra parking is available across the street from the trailhead and along Quarry Road. Come out to celebrate our beautiful Earth and enjoy a walk on the trail. This special event will begin at 11:00 a.m.
She has completed a 4-week basic manners class hosted by Clifford’s, so she’s got the fundamentals down. She can sometimes pull on the leash during walks, but she enjoys getting out and exploring which will help her warm up to new experiences. One of her favorite things in the summer is playing in the doggie pool!
Trinity will need a calm, patient adopter who’s ready to give her time and reassurance to help her build trust and adjust to her new home. She and Lisabeth don’t have to be adopted together, but both would do well with a dog sibling to help boost confidence and provide security.
Start the adoption process by completing the official application here: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/clip/dog
For more information on Earth Day, contact the City of Kings Mountain’s Marketing, Tourism, and Events Department at 704-730-2101, visit our website at www.KingsMountainEvents.com, or their Facebook page at @cityofkmspecialevents.
