Ringing Hope: Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign helps those in Need By Dr. Jack Weller The annual tradition of ringing the bell for the Red Kettle campaign provides hope across Cleveland County. As the holiday season approaches, the familiar sound of bells ringing outside local stores signals more than the start of festive shopping—it marks the beginning of a season of giving and compassion. For generations, The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign has been a symbol of hope, providing vital support to families and individuals in need throughout the community. In Cleveland County, the Red Kettle Campaign does far more than collect spare change. Each donation placed into a kettle helps fund life-changing programs that offer food for the hungry and emergency assistance for those facing unexpected hardships. Every dollar raised stays in the community, making a direct impact on local lives. Funds from the campaign sustain The Salvation Army’s
outreach throughout the year. Food pantry services ensure that no child or senior goes hungry. Emergency financial assistance helps families keep their lights on and avoid eviction. Beyond these basic needs. The Salvation Army was one of the first disaster relief organization on site after Hurricane Helene that hit western North Carolina.
