The Connecticut State Seal of Biliteracy The students who have earned this recognition have fulfilled their English/language arts requirements for graduation, and have demonstrated proficiency in a second language. Proficiency is validated through a portfolio that demonstrates the four skill areas and three modes of communication appropriate to the language, as well as the passing of a standardized language assessment. In addition to a certificate today and a cord to wear at graduation, each student will receive a seal on their diploma that indicates this honor.
