Tim Vidrio Chef/Partner Hey Nonny
“Hey Nonny is very unique. We’re an intimate live music venue and restaurant with a state-of-the-art sound system. Artists get to interact with the crowd more than they could in a bigger venue. With an excellent sound room, you want to have excellent cuisine to match it. My cooking approach has European influences and is heavily seasonal, so the menu is constantly changing. I try to mix a lot of sweet and savory profiles and bring in local seasonal ingredients. You can come here and have an excellent meal before a show, then walk over to the listening room with your cocktail and see a live performance. We’re always building off what we have to make the dining experience even better.”

Arlington Heights
Downtown happenings
Arlington Heights’ downtown is home to dozens of restaurants and shops, and a Metra train with service to Chicago. Start your day with a latte and avocado toast at CoCo & Blu before shopping at Charisma for eclectic fashion or The Eiffel Flower for gifts and home accessories. For something totally unique,
book a session at Seleta Scents to blend your own soy candle. When it’s time to refuel, you’ve got plenty of options. Grab a slice of thin crust at Armand’s Pizzeria (open since 1956!) or go for a wood-fired pie at Passero
For authentic Irish pub vibes, head to Peggy Kinnane’s for shepherd’s pie and a pint. Gumrai Thai has a lengthy menu with all the favorites (pad thai, fried rice, curries,
and more). Elevated pub fare is on the menu at Cortland’s Garage, a great place to watch the game. Take one down at Beer on the Wall craft brew shop, boasting more than 600 cans and bottles, plus lots of rotating beers on draft. Come to Golf VX ’s flagship for high-tech golf simulators and cocktails mixed by robotic bartenders — it’s one of only a few places in the country with this service!
Downtown Arlington Heights
Elk Grove Village
Fun and games on the edge of O’Hare
Chicago is officially known as the “Pinball Capital of the World,” with many popular arcade games made right here in Elk Grove Village. Stern Pinball (the world’s largest pinball factory) and Jersey Jack Pinball are based in Elk Grove Village. Beyond arcade games, the town’s crown jewel is the Jack A. Claes Pavilion, with an indoor carousel, indoor playground, and an aquatic center open year-round. Pirates’ Cove is open during the summer months, Rainbow Falls Water park is one of the largest in the area.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR!
The 2026 Presidents Cup is coming to nearby Medinah Country Club September 22–27, and Chicago Northwest is your perfect base to experience the tournament. Plan your visit at chicagonorthwest.com/presidents-cup
Itasca
Small-town charm and big fun
Explore the area’s railroad history at the Itasca Historical Depot Museum, housed in the town’s original 1873 depot. Grab a coffee from Fulla Beans and take a peaceful walk on the trails that meander through Springbrook Nature Center’s shaded woodlands. In the winter months, make a reservation for Fox & Turtle Restaurant at Itasca Country Club and try your hand at ice curling. (Really!) Also at Itasca Country Club, sip innovative cocktails made by renowned
mixologist Tao Zrafi at No School Tomorrow. Close to O’Hare International Airport, Eaglewood Resort & Spa has an 18-hole championship golf course and crowd-pleasing amenities like a bowling alley and bocce ball courts, while The Westin Chicago Northwest has all the comforts of a AAA Four-Diamond hotel. (Tip: From The Westin, it's only a short walk to BarleyHaus for Church Street Brewing Company beers, smash burgers, and other pub favorites.)

Café

Natalie Griffin: “As a special education teacher, I saw how my students were excited to take on the world after high school, but no businesses would give them a chance. I believed that adults with disabilities could work in a café, but I had no experience running a restaurant. Amy and I were friends and I thought that she, as the former owner of a successful restaurant, Tuscan Market and Wine Shop, might want to start a new venture with me. We employ adults with a variety of disabilities and a range of abilities. They have pride, purpose, and confidence, and they serve customers with joy and gratitude — they just needed someone to give them a chance.”
Amy Philpott: “Gerry’s Café is deeply personal because it honors my Aunt Gerry, who didn’t have these opportunities or support. To see our employees thriving, earning paychecks, and being embraced by the community feels like we’re giving them the chance she never had. It’s rewarding to see how our mission comes to life through our employees. Their pride and growth show up in the smallest moments, and those moments fuel everything we do.”

Rolling Meadows
Good food and parks galore
Take a step back in time at the Rolling Meadows 1950s House Museum, a replica of the town’s first ranch house (it’s like Happy Days brought to life!), then take a stroll along Salt Creek in beautiful Kimball Hill Park. Rolling Meadows has plenty of places to get active, including several parks and playgrounds connected by the town’s bike path. At Nelson Sports Complex, practice your spins on the indoor skating rink, swim laps in the Olympic-size pool, and let the littles cool off in the splash pad. Flex your skills on the public pickleball courts at Cardinal Drive Park
Refuel with smash burgers at Meetch’s Wings & Things Enjoy an afternoon of opera (performed by rod puppets) at Rolling Meadows Park District Theater’s Opera in Focus. Enjoy an iconic Chinatown favorite in the suburbs with dinner at MingHin Cuisine, then grab the mic for karaoke at Agit Black
Roselle
Eats, drinks, and community spirit
In downtown Roselle, visit Lynfred Winery, the oldest and largest continuously family-operated winery in Illinois. Producing some 70 varietals every year, including lesser-known grapes like Alicante Bouschet and classics like Chardonnay,

Lynfred sources its grapes from different wine regions and handles everything else in house, from crushing to bottling. It’s a short walk to Pollyanna Brewery-Roselare known for its flagship lagers, IPAs, and golden ales. Snag a table at the outdoor biergarten, which hosts live music and food trucks. Further along Main Street, dine on seafood and steaks at 1913 Restaurant

and Bar, or Chinese and Japanese cuisine at 8000 Miles. Nearby, Mangy Dawg’s Pub offers a neighborhood vibe with a scratch kitchen serving handmade burgers, sandwiches, and wings, while family-run Italian Pizza Kitchen offers classic Italian pastas and pizzas. End the day the old-fashioned way and take a spin around the rink at Coachlite Skate Center

Ana Santos-Vitelo, Owner Brazil Express
“My partner Mario and I came to the United States from Brazil about 25 years ago and we started working in restaurants. I fell in love with the business, and after 10 years of working in other restaurants and saving our money, we opened our own restaurant.
Our goal is to share Brazilian food and culture, but make it more affordable. Our churrasco serves Brazilian-style barbecue featuring skewered and grilled meats.
We are also an autism-friendly restaurant. It started five years ago when we were closed during COVID. My friend runs an autism awareness foundation and she taught me how to be intentional and inclusive. We offer a sensory box and have a semiprivate area with a window, which is a great distraction for kids.
When I’m not in my own restaurant, I love supporting local and family-owned businesses like Oberweis and Cielo Mexican, which is right next to Brazil Express. My son grew up here, my brother and my friends are all here … this is my community now.”

Past meets present at the Hoosier Grove Museum. This one-room schoolhouse, built in 1904, educated Streamwood’s residents until 1954. Today, it’s part of a complex that includes an 1888 dairy barn converted into an events venue. For outdoor fun, Streamwood’s parks system has athletic fields, disc golf courses, a skate park, a splash pad, and playgrounds. Watch a performance in the 65-seat theater in Rolling Meadows and find yourself wowed by the combination of puppet artistry and musical theater.
• Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts is a hub for the performing arts. The center hosts a diverse lineup of entertainment in the intimate, 425-seat Maggie Atcher Theatre (November–April). In the summer, bring a

“
Andi Ruhl, Owner
Thrown Elements Pottery
“The creative process is a healing process. You can study clay and ceramics your whole life and not know all of it. What’s beautiful about clay is that you can be gentle with it and hone in on the details, but you can also rip and tear and pound on it. It really allows us to express ourselves and where we are at the moment.
Ceramics, and creation in general, forces us to get out of our heads. When we’re creating, we’re focused on what’s right in front of us. Thrown Elements was built on that premise. We have a space where people can leave their worries at the door and create. I think that’s the coolest thing about what we do.
I believe in supporting local and shopping small. I like to shout out all the businesses near us, like Bistro Chen, Javier's Sabor Mexicano, and Bitter and Sweet. The thing that’s fun about Arlington Heights ... there is something for everyone!”

Tony LaFrenere, PGA Executive Director
Schaumburg Park District and 2025 PGA Golf Executive of the Year
“It’s been full circle for me, having grown up in Schaumburg and learning to love the game of golf here. My wife Julie is from here, and we’re raising our family here. I get to lead an organization that shaped my childhood and I get the privilege of giving back to the community.
I love that the Park District makes people’s lives better every day, whether it’s a family at one of our pools, a senior at an exercise class, or juniors learning golf.
The Schaumburg Golf Club and its programs are a model for making golf welcoming, accessible, and communitycentered. Our goal is in our tagline — make time for fun. A perfect day for me is an early round at Schaumburg Golf Club, followed by coffee from Sweet Reserve Spring Valley Nature Center is a quiet haven of walking paths. (The Park District has 100 miles of biking and walking trails!) In the evening, we might head to Bella Napoli for wood-fired pizza. In the summer, we go to the Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts for the Summer Breeze concert series. It’s hard to not be grateful to live and work in a place where everything you value — recreation, culture, and community — is here in Schaumburg.”

At locally owned Palm Court, guests return for the gracious service and the approachable chef-driven menu, featuring house specialities like prime rib (offered Friday and Saturday) and an impressive seafood tower. Linger in the piano lounge or sip a drink at the full-service bar after dinner.
Chicago Prime Steakhouse
This family-owned gem keeps the atmosphere casual (no dress code), but the menu and service are anything but. Signature items include the filet mignon and a 42-ounce tomahawk rib eye. The curated wine list leans into California reds. Listen to live music in the lounge (Wednesday—Saturday) and relax with a postdinner cocktail. The perfect evening does exist!
Chandler’s Chophouse
Located at the Schaumburg Golf Club, Chandler’s is known for its distinctive, Prairie-style decor and a casual vibe. Dine on hand-cut steaks and chops, classic American cuisine, and daily chef’s specials inspired by the season, with views of the manicured greens.
Weber Grill Restaurant
At this popular spot in Schaumburg, chefs prepare steak, barbecue, seafood, burgers, and more over authentic Weber charcoal grills. Drawing on the brand’s nearly 70year heritage of outdoor grill innovation — with the iconic Weber kettle grills manufactured initially in the Chicago Northwest suburbs — the dining experience celebrates the very equipment that put Weber on the map. Try the fire-grilled filet flight, a trio of beef tenderloins.

FOR SPECIAL OCCASION DINING
The Capital Grille
Innovative dishes feature dry-aged, hand-cut steaks, served in a polished yet cozy setting that feels ideal for lingering dinners. On the drinks front, there’s a sommelier-curated wine list and signature cocktails — a perfect way to cap off your day.
Perry’s Steakhouse & Grill
Located next door to the Hyatt Regency, Perry’s has a comfortably sophisticated atmosphere reflected in the stylish decor, gleaming wine wall, and showy tableside presentations. Surf & Turf Signatures, like Chateaubriand Three Ways featuring filet mignon served Oscar-style with jumbo lump crab, are prepared to perfection, but it’s the Seven Finger High Dinner Cut Pork Chop that really stands out.

FOR AUTHENTIC CHURRASCO
Fogo de Chão
The art of Brazilian churrasco is on full display at the chic Fogo de Chão. Gaucho

chefs prepare fire-roasted meats served tableside with flair. Traditional cocktails, like the caipirinha, and delectable accompaniments from the Market Table spread add flair to your Brazilian culinary adventure.
FOR WOW-FACTOR PRESENTATIONS
Shaw’s Crab House
A true Chicagoland institution, Shaw’s is a must-visit. The signature item to order is the Whole Norwegian Red King Crab — harvested from Norway, the impressive dish is presented tableside and served
with drawn butter. It’s a showstopper you’ll find only at Shaw’s. The Grand Seafood Tower, featuring Maine lobster, shucked oysters, shrimp cocktail, and California roll, is also a crowd-pleaser.
FOR THROWBACK VIBES
Wildfire
Wildfire evokes a 1940s-era supper club with its retro-modern setting and signature martinis. Hand-cut, dry-aged steaks and chops and fresh seafood star in dishes like horseradish-crusted filet and cedar-planked salmon.

Global Flavors
Travel around the world on a plate — Chicago Northwest’s dining scene is full of authentic specialties and surprises. Here are some standouts for global cuisine.

Indian
If you’re craving Indian cuisine, the region serves up an impressive range of casual and upscale options. Hyderabad House, Gaylord Fine Indian Cuisine, Naatu Indian Restaurant & Bar, and Red Tomatoes Indian Cuisine each explore India’s diverse culinary traditions, making the area one of the region’s most flavorful hubs for South Asian dining.
East/Southeast Asian
Chicago Northwest delivers a vibrant mix of Asian flavors, beginning with Chinese restaurants known for both traditional dishes and modern takes. Phat Phat blends juicy dumplings with an eye for stylish presentation, while Pinoy Grill brings Filipino street-food spirit to the suburbs. Southeast Asia also shines at Penang, where Malaysian comfort food — from roti to richly spiced curries — draws devoted regulars. Japanese specialties are equally abundant. Tekka Sushi, Osaku Asian Kitchen, Shabu-Yo, Sushi Station, and Sushi Edo offer everything from sushi and sashimi to shared hot pot meals. (Bonus: Shabu-Yo delivers your food via robot!) Rokbonki Japanese Steak House is a crowd-pleaser with hibachi-style cooking in a fun atmosphere. And Kura Revolving Sushi and Sushi Station both offer the always fun rotating belt of sushi selections. Korean barbecue fans have options, too: 92 Town Korean BBQ and K-BBQ deliver that tableside grilling experience complete with bold marinades and charkissed meats.
Sushi Edo
THE PRIDE OF POLAND
Polish immigrants have been settling in Chicago for more than a century, and their cultural influence still thrives in Chicago Northwest communities. These restaurants serve a taste of the homeland and reflect the hospitality and culinary legacy of proud Polish-Americans.
Smacznego!
Bacówka
Traditional dishes are served with friendly vibes. In fact, much of the staff here speaks Polish. Come for the pierogis and stay for the party, as Bacówka offers a fun nightlife, too.
U Gazdy
The cozy atmosphere is perfect for savoring the cuisine of the Polish Highlands. Try the bigos (hunter’s stew), stuffed cabbage, or hearty Highlander Dinner (kolacja góralska), serving four.

Tata’s Pierogis
This family-run eatery is known for its handmade pierogis, available in a variety of sweet and savory flavors. Dine in or take it to-go.
Opolska
This family-owned restaurant serves cuisine from the Opole region, where the food has Czech and German influences — think goulash stew, and mushroom- and cheesestuffed chicken rolls.

Central Asian
Chicago Northwest also welcomes a growing collection of Central Asian restaurants. Uyghur Lagman House highlights the region’s hallmark flavors, while Sorry Mommy continues to draw diners with its eclectic Central Asian-halal menu (think kebabs, hand-pulled noodles, and stir-fry). Middle Eastern influences round out this corner of the map, with MazMez Middle Eastern Grill known for falafel, shawarma plates, and other classics.
Latin American
Latin American cooking appears across multiple styles and traditions. Brazil Express Grill channels the hearty spirit of Brazilian grilling, and Pupuseria Cheros serves iconic pupusas along with other Salvadoran
specialties. Taco lovers have no shortage of places to sample, including Besa Mi Taco, Buenos Dias Burritos, Authentic Taco, Javier’s Cielo Mexican Grill Good Tequila's Mexican Grill, and Salsa 17, each bringing its own distinct interpretation of
Mexico’s most iconic handheld bite. For Mexican dishes with a creative twist, check out Sayulita, My Cocina Grill, Mago Grill & Cantina, and La Hacienda Calavera, where modern inspiration meets traditional roots.

Tekka Sushi

Italian
Italian cuisine remains a cornerstone of the region’s dining scene, whether you’re in the mood for scratch-made pasta or wood-fired pizza. Local standouts include Chicago Prime Italian, Cefalù Seaside Sicilian La Zingara Bella Napoli, Rocco Vino’s, Antonio’s, Casa di Luigi, and Marino’s Mediterranean, Caribbean, and more
Mediterranean flavors appear in many forms, from loaded platters at The Chef Grill to grilled specialties (shawarma, skewers, gyros) at Habibi In Mediterranean Grill, along with Greek island-inspired dishes at Naxos. For a taste of the Caribbean, Jerky Jerk and Cubano Bros spotlight Caribbean-influenced comfort food. Fusion-minded diners gravitate toward Phoenix Flame Tokio Pub, and 8000 Miles — three spots known for mixing global styles with a playful edge.

Deep-Dish Pizza
Giordano’s, Lou Malnati’s, Moretti’s

Portillo’s Hot Dogs, Doctor Dogs, Fratello’s II, Big Sammy’s

Italian Beef
Johnnie’s Beef, Bubby’s Beefs & Red Hots, Fatt Mustard
You gotta try the classic Chicago sando, a soft hoagie roll loaded with thin-sliced beef and hot or sweet peppers. Order it “wet” for it to be bathed in a delicious broth — don’t forget a fork and knife!

There’s always something happening at Pollyanna Brewing Company-Roselare’s tap room in Roselle, from events in the beer garden to releases of seasonal and experimental brews.
Family-owned Church Street Brewing Company is known for decoction-brewed, European-style beers like the flagship Heavenly Helles lager. Sample this (and 30-plus other varieties) at The Steeple tasting room or main taproom.
Mikerphone Brewing in Elk Grove Village is known for award-winning, small-batch beer made by music lovers. Sip the barrel-aged Smells Like Bean Spirit imperial stout while you play on one of the locally manufactured pinball machines. If you’re a regular pinball wizard, consider signing up for pinball tournaments every first Thursday of the month.
Cocktails
Big Shot Piano Lounge & Restaurant is a laid-back speakeasy-style spot where you can kick back with a perfectly crafted martini and live piano music nightly.
No School Tomorrow evokes the nostalgia of your school days, but with a fun, adult twist. Peruse the menu of grown-up classic drinks.

In Arlington Heights, Beer on the Wall has been taking one down and passing it around since 2016. The craft beer store and cafe features 16 rotating taps and more than 600 bottles or cans, available for on-site consumption or takeaway.
Wine
Lynfred Winery put Roselle on the map as a wine destination — it’s Illinois’ oldest familyrun winery still in operation. Experience warm hospitality with a by-the-glass tasting, then take a tour of the cellar and buy a bottle to take home. To further expand your wine collection, pop into Tuscan Market & Wine Shop. Indulge in a hearty meal with a glass of your favorite vino before buying a bottle to go. Then, head to Bottle & Bottega for paint and sip night. If you’re thirsty for more, Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurants has dozens of bottles to try.

Signature sips include the Late Coco or Dunkaroo. (Bonus: There’s a good mix of fun, nonalcoholic libations, too.)
At Hey Nonny, classic cocktails are made with locally sourced ingredients and spirits from Midwest distilleries. Pair your drink with farm-totable bites in the gastropub.
Ever wish you could jump behind the bar? At Bitter & Sweet Cocktail Boutique, take a class to learn the art of mixology.

“Church Street Brewing Company is family run and has had a strong foundation in the community for the past 10 years.
This past summer, we collaborated with Spring Brook Nature Center, which had goats for a season, and proceeds from our seasonal SpringBrook Bock supported the nature center. With trivia, music bingo, and live music on weekends, there’s something happening almost every night.
We opened BarleyHaus down the road at Hamilton Lakes. It’s a laid-back spot serving lunch and dinner. It’s evolved into a go-to lunch spot and a place to socialize after work. Trivia Tuesday and Thursday night Euchre are especially popular. And both locations are family-friendly!”

Arrivals & Departures
The Chicago Northwest area is on the edge of O’Hare International Airport (ORD) and at the crossroads of major highways. Here’s how to navigate like a local.
By Air
O’Hare International Airport flychicago.com/ohare
After landing at O’Hare, do not take City Taxis, which are waiting in the first lane outside baggage claim, as they will charge you time and a half. Confirm before you get in any car that it is not a City of Chicago taxi. Instead, order a suburban cab to Chicago Northwest (American Taxi, 847-673-1000, americantaxi.com). Suburban cabs are cheaper than Chicago-licensed taxis. Your assigned cab cannot wait for you at the curb, so be sure to have your bags before you call.
Access regional bus carriers by taking the Airport Transit System to the Multi-Modal Facility (MMF).
Rideshare loading zones are at Terminal 2 (upper level) and Terminal 3.
Some Chicago Northwest hotels offer free shuttle service to and from O’Hare. Call your hotel directly for details. All hotel and off-airport parking shuttle pickups are from Terminal 2.
Rental car companies are located in the MMF. To get to the MMF from the terminals or vice versa, take the Airport Transit System, which runs every 3–5 minutes, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
