A Message from the Cedar Hills Mayor
Happy 250th America! When the Founding Fathers had the vision to create “a more perfect union,” I believe that they could see into the future and imagine communities just like Cedar Hills. I know that they had great hopes for this newly created nation, which included “the right of the people to peaceably assemble.”
We have the freedom to assemble together peaceably and happily every year during the Family Festival. This year is particularly exciting as we celebrate the United States of America’s 250th birthday. We will show our patriotism through the flag ceremony, the parade, the fireworks/drone show, and every other activity and event planned for this wonderful week.
George Washington reminded us that the “sacred fire of liberty” rests in the hands of individuals. In Cedar Hills, we carry that responsibility with gratitude for those who came before us and hope for those who will follow. We plan this festival not only for today, but for tradition that will last for generations.
As we celebrate 250 years of freedom, let’s remember the principles that built this nation faith, courage, service, unity, and a deep love of liberty. Start your festival morning in spectacular fashion as colorful hot air balloons return to Harvey Park! Watch as these towering beauties slowly come to life—first stretching skyward during inflation and then gracefully lifting off into the morning air.
Balloon pilots and their crews will arrive between 6:15 and 6:30 am to begin the fascinating inflation process. During this time, guests are welcome to walk through the field, snap photos, ask questions, and get a close-up look at the balloons before they take flight.
Around 8:00 am, the balloons will lift off and drift into the sky, creating a breathtaking scene you won’t want to miss. Whether you’re capturing the perfect sunrise selfie or simply soaking in the view, this early-morning spectacle is a festival favorite for all ages.

After enjoying the early morning hot air balloons at Harvey Park, stick around for a delicious breakfast served by the American Fork Fire Department! It’s the perfect way to refuel while spending time with friends, neighbors, and the firefighters who serve our community.
This special pancake breakfast is part of our festival fundraising efforts, with proceeds supporting the Fun Run Fundraiser. Come hungry and enjoy a stack of fresh pancakes while helping a great cause.
Breakfast tickets will be available onsite for a suggested donation of $5 per person. Payment can be made quickly and easily through Venmo using the fundraiser QR code that will be available that morning.

Participants will transform sidewalks into colorful masterpieces inspired by our nation’s history, freedom, and the spirit of community.
Whether you’re an artist creating your own work or a visitor strolling through the vibrant displays, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Watch talented local artists bring history to life in bold colors, imaginative designs, and playful interpretations of this historic milestone.
Artists will bring their designs to life Monday and Tuesday, June 1st through 2nd. Judging and awards will be held Tuesday, June 2nd at 5:00 pm.
