Inside this issue... The Anatomy of Planning a Winter Charity Pet Event...
The Anatomy of planning a winter charity pet Event
1. We decided on the name and then the approach and look we wanted. 2. Our logo, designed in-house, adorned our materials with a fun and colorful theme. The idea for the name was to save the last shot and have the dog owner “smooch” their pooch; then give them that image for their Facebook profile.
3. We shot prototypes for several months and put the images on our Facebook page to create excitement (and get samples) and we also posted images that we shot during our event.
4. We created some specialty products just for this event, then combined them with our other products to create a special pricing structure we felt would meet the needs of our clients.

5. We ordered printed materials we could approach potential partners with.
6. We asked local kennels and vets to put our cards out and hang wall samples which they still have up, even after the event. For them, this was a low risk way for them to get acquainted with us.
key: find a partner who will send out emails to their client base, extending your reach. 7. We asked our two Humane Societies to partner with us in this event in exchange for us raising both awareness and a mountain of food.
P.S. We did all of the design and got the emails prepped so our partners were worry free!
Key: Events tied in with charities are popular.
8. The Humane Societies sent out re-cap email blasts to show the food collected.
One Humane Society requested only canned food; this shows the canned food that we collected.
9. We posted this on our Facebook page as a re-cap of the event and also included it in our electronic spring newsletter.
WE staged the dressing room with goodies and coupons from each partner.
What we learned from planning this event...
1. We picked February, typically a slower month, then spread it out over the entire month to give each client a full 1/2 hour session. 2. We treated each session as a “regular” studio portrait, prepping each sale with a Suggestion and doing a full-blown sale presentation with each client. 3. We felt that working with our Humane Societies and local vets and kennels gave us credibility PLUS a wider audience. 4. We acquired several great, new clients for the future. 5. We have many wonderful images for next year’s event. 6. We contributed back to our community in an area we felt we could make a difference.

Painter
the wonder of
Painter plays a part in our studio as the “trading up” division of Walden’s. The tag line is “Your Next Walden Experience.” As a secondgeneration studio with many clients coming back again and again, we wanted to offer something completely different that would be a step up from our Color Studies. Additionally, we are always looking for ways to create a product that is hard and rare to get anyplace else and Painter offered us the way to do that. See Bev demonstrate some of her techniques she uses in Painter in the 6-part series now showing in the Coaching Community Video Gallery!
