{ ON THE TOWN } BERGEN RESTORE Bergen County Habitat for Humanity and Bergen ReStore continued its campaign, Desks 4 Homes, to build and donate student desks to families in need. Their most recent project gave 40 students attending Englewood schools a new desk. FAIR LAWN POLICE DEPARTMENT Dozens of residents partipated in the recent Snow Tubing with a Fair Lawn Cop program, which connected the borough police department with young members of 1 community. Westwood residents, businesses and organizations used social media throughout February to show their appreciation of the community. CENTER FOR FOOD ACTION The Center for Food Action, with locations in Englewood, Hackensack and Mahwah, among other towns, recently received donations and helping hands from the community. A college student volunteer, Jessica, received a grant to fund Shoprite gift cards that are given to CFA clients. The River Vale Police Department and DPW got an assist from the town’s CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) unit this winter. Volunteers from CERT went through neighborhoods to clear snow from fire hydrants. 6 CERT members take a break between their shoveling efforts.
