A beautiful space is only the beginning; what truly matters is the guest’s overall experience from the moment they arrive. For Natasha Blair, co-founder of NAKÏ Properties and Realtor, hospitality is the cornerstone of everything she does. Whether welcoming guests to one of NAKÏ Properties’ thoughtfully designed residences or guiding clients through their homebuying journey, her goal remains simple: to create an experience where every guest and client feels welcomed, valued, and genuinely connected.
As Atlanta continues to attract business travellers, film productions, healthcare professionals, and families relocating to the city, Blair recognized the need for accommodations that offer more than just convenience. She envisioned spaces where thoughtful design meets elevated hospitality, creating an effortless yet personalized experience.
Each NAKÏ residence is meticulously curated to provide comfort, style, and functionality, fostering an environment where guests can truly relax. While beautiful interiors and premium amenities are important, Blair believes they are only part of the story.
“Luxury may describe what people see, but hospitality is what they feel,” she explains. “Our purpose is to create spaces where people feel welcomed from the moment they arrive and remembered long after they leave.”
This philosophy has become the defining characteristic of NAKÏ Properties. From corporate executives and entertainment professionals to families in transition, every guest receives the same level of thoughtful care and attention. It’s an approach built on listening, anticipating needs, and crafting experiences that feel personal rather than transactional.
For Blair, hospitality extends far beyond a beautifully appointed home. It’s about building trust, fostering connection, and making every interaction meaningful. These moments linger long after guests have checked out, leaving a lasting impression.
As NAKÏ Properties continues to grow, Blair remains committed to a vision where thoughtful service is the true measure of excellence. While a beautiful space may attract people in, it’s genuine hospitality that inspires them to return.

If you happen to follow me on social media, you've probably noticed I don't post very often. It's not because I'm not experiencing life; quite the opposite. I've just always found that writing is where I feel most at home.
Every issue, I get this one page: no captions, no algorithms, no filters, just a blank page and a chance to share what's been on my mind.
Summer has always been my favorite season. Maybe it's because I was born in July. Maybe it's the longer days, spontaneous road trips, or simply the feeling that life slows down just enough for us to appreciate it. Whatever the reason, summer has always felt like a season of possibility.
As I've gotten older, I've realized something. I rarely remember the things I've bought, but I vividly remember where I've been, the conversations I've had, and the people I've shared those experiences with.
That's exactly what this issue is about.
One of my favorite parts of publishing VUE is having the opportunity to experience remarkable destinations firsthand before sharing them with you. We don't just tell stories, we live them. Over the past few months, our team has traveled across the Southeast and beyond to uncover places we believe are worth your time.
This issue takes you from the colorful streets of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico to the turquoise waters of Three Waters Resort in the Florida Keys. You'll discover the timeless elegance of Charleston Place, the energy of Charlotte, the rich history of Jekyll Island, Savannah's revitalized riverfront at the JW Marriott, the sugar-white beaches surrounding The Island Resort on Florida's Emerald Coast, and a luxury escape in Montgomery that may surprise you.
Each destination had its own personality, story, and charm. But despite the miles between them, they all reminded me of the same thing.
Luxury isn't simply about where you stay, it's about how present you allow yourself to be while you're there.
Some of my favorite moments from these trips weren't planned. They happened over an unhurried breakfast before the city woke up, during conversations with passionate people who genuinely love what they do, while watching the sun disappear over the water, or simply taking a moment to put the phone away and appreciate where I was.
Not every meaningful moment ends up on social media.
In a world that encourages us to document everything, I hope this issue reminds you to simply enjoy a few moments for yourself.
Those are the ones that stay with you.
That's what I hope this issue inspires.
Thank you for allowing VUE Atlanta to be part of your journey. Whether you're boarding a plane, packing the car for a weekend escape, or simply dreaming about your next adventure, I hope these pages inspire you to explore a little more, slow down a little longer, and collect moments that will stay with you long after summer fades.
After all, the best journeys don't just change our scenery, they change our perspective.
Here's to new places, unforgettable experiences, and a summer well spent.

Every premium cigar consists of three essential components, each contributing to its flavor, burn, and overall character.
THE WRAPPER
The wrapper is the cigar's outermost leaf and often the most visually striking element. Carefully selected for its appearance and texture, the wrapper contributes significantly to the cigar's flavor profile.
A smooth, oily wrapper indicates quality craftsmanship and proper aging. Darker wrappers often produce richer, sweeter notes, while lighter wrappers may offer more subtle and nuanced flavors.
THE BINDER
Beneath the wrapper lies the binder. This durable tobacco leaf holds the filler tobacco together and provides structural integrity to the cigar. Though less visible, the binder plays an important role in ensuring an even burn and proper draw.
THE FILLER
The filler forms the heart of the cigar. Comprised of carefully blended tobacco leaves, the filler determines the cigar's strength, complexity, and flavor characteristics. Master blenders combine various leaves to create profiles ranging from mild and creamy to bold and full-bodied. The filler is where the artistry of cigar making truly comes to life.
A premium cigar is more than tobacco wrapped in a leaf, it is a handcrafted expression of tradition, craftsmanship, and patience. For centuries, cigar aficionados have appreciated the ritual surrounding the cigar experience, from selecting the perfect cigar to executing the ideal light. Understanding the anatomy of a cigar and the proper techniques for preparation can elevate an ordinary smoke into a memorable occasion.
SELECTING THE RIGHT CIGAR
Choosing a cigar is a personal journey influenced by taste, occasion, and experience level.
CHOOSE THE RIGHT SIZE
The size and shape of a cigar affect both smoking time and flavor development.
Robusto: Rich flavor and approximately 45 minutes of smoking time.
Toro: Balanced and versatile, offering around one hour of enjoyment.
Churchill: Longer and more complex, ideal for leisurely occasions.
Corona: Elegant and traditional, with concentrated flavor.
Consider how much time you have available before selecting your cigar.

On May 9th, VUE Atlanta collaborated with Lady Saddlers Equestrian Club for a western hoedown at the Ellenwood Equestrian Center. “Rosé Rodeo” was the perfect combination of ranch and chic. Celebrating sisterhood, guests were able to experience horseback riding, line dancing, champagne tasting, floral bouquet making, and more!
If this isn’t your first rodeo, you should know good food is sure to follow. There was a variety of hors d'oeuvres and treats for the guests to partake in. Mac and cheese,

Overall, everyone had their boots on the ground for this elevated evening. On top of the horses and hay, this was a great opportunity to connect with others in the community, listen to good music, and escape from the city.

BY VANESSA PASCALE
Sunlight is streaming in through the sky-high windows of Le Bon Nosh on this icy, January afternoon. Chika Takai arrives at the Buckhead restaurant wearing a black leather dress and black booties; her long, black hair cascades down her back in soft waves. After ordering a hot cappuccino, Chika, fondly known as the “dancing DJ” and Atlanta Hawks’ resident DJ, begins her story.
Born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, Chika immigrated to Atlanta, Georgia in 2014 as a student. For Chika, a self-proclaimed hip-hop head, residing in the “hip-hop capital,” where all her favorite rappers (T.I., Jeezy, Yung Joc, Lil Jon) hailed from, made sense. With a background in hip-hop/contemporary dance and her deejaying skills, Chika set out to make her dreams of entertaining on the biggest stages worldwide a reality.
Chika immediately found her way into the spotlight as an NBA dancer for the Atlanta Hawks (2015-2016 season). During her sixseason tenure, Chika mixed music for their dance routines, was the first Japanese person to be captain of an NBA franchise dance team, and the first Japanese person to be selected as a dancer for an NBA All-Star Game. “I’ve always wanted to entertain. Dance was one of the tools for me; it was the first connection to music for me,” shares Chika. Her unmatched skills and bright personality earned her Rookie of Year and Veteran of the Year honors, as well as a spot performing with Ciara at a Super Bowl event.
Chika also made a name for herself deejaying for events during her dance team career. Eventually, her affinity for deejaying trickled into her dancer role, and before she knew it she was dancing and deejaying at the Hawks games. Chika became a pro at swift wardrobe changes as she split her time between dancing on the court and amping up the crowd from the DJ booth on game days. Life continued this route until the universe pushed Chika to choose between the two. In 2021, Chika stepped away from her NBA dancer role to become the Hawk’s official DJ.
Choosing to DJ for the Hawks was the “more responsible” route and an easy choice as it’s what Chika genuinely loves doing. “It is a big part of the experience in the arena. I am just really happy to have that type of role and make more of
an impact. Also, you don't see too many females or Asian DJs in this specific industry. I have always wanted to be the person who can be an example or who can show, ‘Hey, you can do that too, because I did it.’ When I came to the States, I didn't speak English. I wouldn't say it was luck or anything. I worked on everything with a lot of support and a lot of love. There was no doubt for me to choose the DJ role over dancing. I'm still dancing; they call me a dancing DJ. I'm more of an entertainer than just a DJ,” shares Chika, who loves interacting with the crowd and anyone who stops by the DJ booth.
As Atlanta’s go-to DJ, Chika’s calendar is packed with the city’s biggest events in sports, nightlife, politics, and philanthropy. "I've had the honor of performing across just about every major sport in an industry where women are still underrepresented. If my journey shows even one little girl that she belongs in any room, on any stage, or in any arena she dreams of, then every step and struggle has been completely worth it," says Chika, who has been the official DJ for events put on by the Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta United, MLB All-Star Game Weekend, and much more. She is also the DJ of choice for Atlanta’s most prominent charitable organizations (Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta,
Meals on Wheels, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta) and corporations that include Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Tiffany's, and NBC Universal.
We’re only halfway through 2026, and it’s already proven to be a monumental year for the tenacious DJ, especially in sports. In April, Chika was the ambassador, host, and official DJ for the launch of the inaugural NBA House Japan; the official DJ at The Masters at Augusta National and Augusta National Women's Amateur with Mercedes-Benz; and the Official Fanfest DJ at the U.S. Soccer: U.S. Men's (USA vs Spain / USA vs Portugal). "As a DJ and host, I've been fortunate to work some amazing events, but being at The Masters felt different. Standing on those sacred grounds and contributing to such an iconic tradition so rich in history and excellence is a moment I'll cherish forever,” says Chika. Chika was also invited to be an official in-stadium DJ
for FIFA World Cup–one of Atlanta’s most anticipated events. “What makes every FIFA experience unforgettable is when thousands of fans become one voice. I may control the music, but the fans create the rhythm. Every chant, every dance, and every cheer is what makes soccer the world's greatest party."
Chika is elated to take her skills to even larger stages and more countries. She loves sharing her ATL flair with the world. This past February, Chika was an official DJ for the 2026 NBA All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles. “This was one of those dreams that I’ve been dreaming about, because it's a bigger stage. I am the first Asian female DJ to become a DJ for the All-Star weekend. That's a pretty big deal for me and for the community!” says Chika. “Music is a huge part of the whole experience for that weekend. So many artists are performing several types of genres: Ludacris, Mustard, Shaboozey, and K-pop group, Cortis. For them to choose a K-pop star, I love it! It's becoming more international. I sometimes describe myself as a triple minority because I'm a female, Asian, and an immigrant that didn't even speak English. From that standpoint, I was like, I want different people to relate to me. I'm very excited. We party hard here, so I'm so happy to be able to bring what we do in the A to L.A.”
Several times a year, Chika travels back to Japan to perform at special events including Japan’s #1 NBA experience, NBA House Japan (where she was the official DJ and host) and one of Tokyo’s largest New Year’s Eve celebrations. "My Japanese heritage is at the heart of everything I do. Whether I'm supporting Japanese influencers, serving as a talent for events alongside inspiring figures like Naomi Osaka, or returning to Japan for groundbreaking events like the inaugural NBA House Japan, my goal is always the same: to celebrate our culture, create unforgettable experiences, and bring the best of the world back home."
WHAT SETS YOU APART FROM OTHER DJS?
“My broad entertainment skills; I can attract a broader crowd. I definitely get more kids and women stopping by our DJ booth. They're like, ‘Oh, wow, can we take a picture with you?’ I'm not just a music provider, I'm a more crowdengaging person, which I think that is a huge part of it and so much easier for females, in my opinion.
I just hate that sometimes female DJs get really underestimated. It's such a male-dominated industry that they are like, ‘Oh, she's just cute. She's just doing some light stuff.’ I want women to feel like they can break stereotypes and they don't have limitations. They can do anything they want to. And with kids, I want them to see me as a good example.”
WHAT DO YOU ENVISION FOR YOUR FUTURE?
“Definitely this! What motivates me is the younger generations and women who struggle with stereotypes. As an entertainer, I would like to be on as big of a stage as possible. I try to accomplish that through my brand Experiential Global [dedicated to collaborations, bringing unparalleled experiences and supporting those that want to have an opportunity on the world stage]; that company is here and also in Japan. We are mainly focusing on music, but also culture, entertainment, and creating an environment to bring experiences to life.
And I have a nonprofit, Global Experience [formed to create professionally and culturally enriching experiences and networks for women on the global stage], which is helping women and the younger generation to expand their professional and cultural experience and connect to a more global network when I came to the States. I didn't know the language. I didn't know anybody. When I tried to do anything, it was really hard for me. One of the things that we do is a study abroad program to create an easier path for the next generation. That's something else that I want to continue doing.
Music and entertainment have given me an incredible platform, and I believe it's my responsibility to use that platform to serve others. The greatest impact I can make isn't just through the energy I create, but through the communities I can support. As an immigrant, I understand the power of opportunity and the importance of community. That's why I've always made it a priority, because someone once opened a door for me here in Atlanta when I couldn't even speak English, so I will always believe in helping open doors for others."
FAVORITE ATLANTA MOMENT
“Performing with all the ATL-based artists here. A lot of the artists that I would listen to were ATL artists, like T.I., Jeezy, Yung Joc, Lil Jon, DJ Unc, Migos. We always have these half-time artists performing, and I feel like we are all creating the moment together… Not necessarily me performing with them, but me trying to entertain them as well is something I was like, ‘Oh my goodness!’ Especially when we have the draft party in the arena. Jeezy was performing and I was the opening DJ; that moment was a pretty big deal for me!
Another would be when we play “Swag Surfin’” every game. The artist, Fast Life Yungstaz, is from Atlanta. It's like a signature. Whenever I perform in Japan, I always hope to play it. It's like bringing the experience or culture from ATL. When the crowd is leaning to the right and left together, it's a beautiful moment. That is something that is really ATL and I always love to take it somewhere else, even when I play in different states.”

Okorie “OkCello” Johnson’s passion for music began with an instrument he was introduced to at 6 years old. During his life, the Atlanta-based cellist/composer has worn several different hats. He has been an educator, a filmmaker, a Morehouse graduate, even an athletics coach. Throughout the years, his cello was always there in the background whenever he needed it, to bring him peace and joy, and help him navigate complex emotions.
One day, while he was in his classroom, Johnson felt compelled to start playing cello again. It began as a way to unwind, then became so much more. The cello created a space for reflection, creativity, and self-discovery. When he eventually stepped away from teaching to pursue filmmaking, his relationship with his cello only deepened. “The film period of my life is when I became, I guess, interested in telling stories. And then, it eventually just shapeshifted into telling stories on the cello, rather than telling stories on the screen,” says Johnson.
As Johnson explored storytelling through his music, he began searching for ways to expand on what the cello could do. That search led him to a looper pedal, a device that can replay and layer sounds in real time. The looper unlocked his creativity, constructing a layered orchestra of sound that transformed him into a one-man band. The device changed the cello from a single instrument into an entire musical landscape, creating new possibilities for the stories he wanted to tell and opening doors for him to perform in theaters, festivals, and venues packed with fans.
But the true heart of Johnson’s music lies in its roots. What deeply sets him apart is his deliberate immersion in the music of the African diaspora.
Having grown up surrounded by West African rhythms and melodies, he intuitively weaves these traditional elements into his contemporary string arrangements. His music is never just one rhythm or category, it’s a blend of many different styles and genres allowing him to find many different ways to connect with audiences.
For Johnson trusting his cello and allowing it to guide his creative path became the ultimate turning point. That trust took him from local classrooms and propelled him into the prominent spaces he occupies today. His narrativedriven compositions have commanded many different stages, including the Biennale in the Democratic Republic of Congo. By embracing the cello and allowing it to become a compass in his life, he unlocked a whole new world of creation. “I would say that everything that I've done is around communication. I really believe in the power of connecting through communication,” says Johnson.
For Johnson, storytelling requires two core values: honesty and courage. He believes artistry isn't just about entertainment, it holds a much more significant meaning. To him, artistry can connect others and allow for deeper conversations about the human experience. By using his cello to open up these honest dialogues, he creates a sanctuary for his audience to feel those exact emotions alongside him. His dedication to authentic connection is what guides his long-term vision for his
career and his craft. “I hope that my cello continues to take me into rooms where I will continue to meet the people who have made my life and I will continue to meet my destiny. I hope that that destiny has something to do with creating the circumstances for the new world that we want to live in. What does that look like? I know I would continue to make albums. I think maybe there will be some writing in my future.”
The immediate blueprint for this new world arrives on June 12th with the release of his highly anticipated single, "Good Luck." Marking his most jazzforward piece to date. The track fuses his cello music with a vocal track that mirrors the rhythmic "toasting" traditions of Reggae. Johnson’s evolving journey isn't defined by rigid, classical traditions, he is helping shape a new era where music doesn't simply accompany culture, but actively drives our shared destiny forward.

James Massey shares how the modern gentleman can navigate summer style with confidence
BY TAHTIYANA MILLER
Summer suiting has entered a new era, one defined by effortless sophistication, breathable luxury, and an embracing of color. According to menswear expert James Massey of Suit Up James, dressing well during the warmer months is not about enduring the heat in heavy fabrics and predictable palettes. Instead, it is about making intentional choices that balance comfort, versatility, and timeless style.
The foundation of any exceptional summer wardrobe begins with fabric. Choosing the right textile can mean the difference between looking polished and spending the day adjusting an uncomfortable jacket.
Linen remains one of the season’s most beloved staples. Lightweight and naturally breathable, it offers an ease that feels perfectly suited for summer weddings, vacations, and outdoor celebrations. Lnen’s relaxed texture embraces a bit of movement and wrinkle; that effortless appearance is part of its charm.
For men seeking a more structured look, tropical wool and fine merino wool provide a sophisticated alternative. These fabrics are designed to regulate temperature while maintaining the clean lines expected from classic tailoring. Wool-silk-linen blends offer the best of all worlds by combining breathability, softness, and durability into a single garment. Seersucker, with its distinctive puckered texture, remains a Southern favorite and continues to be a timeless choice for summer events.
COLOR, A DEFINING ROLE
Color also plays a defining role in seasonal dressing. While navy and grey remain year-round essentials, summer presents an opportunity to embrace shades that feel lighter and more expressive.
Ivory and dove grey create an understated elegance ideal for formal daytime occasions. British tan offers warmth and versatility, pairing effortlessly with both business-casual and social settings. Sage green and lavender introduce subtle color while remaining refined enough for those easing into bolder choices. For men looking to make a statement, turquoise, burnt orange, pastel pink, and soft yellow bring personality to traditional tailoring without sacrificing sophistication.
Knowing how and when to wear these colors can elevate an entire wardrobe.
An ivory suit paired with a crisp white open-collar shirt creates a polished look for an outdoor wedding or garden party. A sage green sport coat styled with tailored trousers and suede loafers transitions seamlessly from an afternoon networking event to an evening dinner reservation. Dove grey suits work beautifully in professional environments, while pastel tones add a refreshing touch to destination celebrations and resort settings.
PATTERNS & PERSONALITY
Patterns offer another opportunity to add depth and character to summer attire. The key is selecting designs that complement rather than overpower the overall look.
Windowpane and Glen plaid patterns provide subtle visual interest appropriate for both business and social occasions. Prince of Wales checks offer classic appeal with a contemporary edge. Pinstripes remain a staple for men who prefer traditional tailoring, while herringbone textures and gingham details introduce dimension and versatility to warm-weather wardrobes. Seersucker stripes continue to embody effortless summer style and remain a favorite for daytime events.
FINISHING TOUCHES
No summer ensemble is complete without thoughtful finishing touches.
Lighter neckwear options help maintain a refined appearance while embracing the relaxed nature
of the season. Grenadine ties add texture without feeling heavy. Knit ties bring a modern sensibility to tailored looks, while linen ties offer an organic softness that complements breathable fabrics. Floral silk ties introduce personality and color for celebratory occasions. For less formal gatherings, an open-collar shirt and tie-free approach create an effortlessly elegant aesthetic.
Atlanta’s social calendar provides countless opportunities to put these styling principles into practice. From rooftop gatherings overlooking the city skyline to outdoor weddings, garden parties, luxury resort escapes, and business-casual events, summer invites men to approach tailoring with creativity and confidence.
Ultimately, great style is less about chasing trends and more about dressing with intention. By investing in breathable fabrics, embracing seasonal color, incorporating timeless patterns, and paying attention to the details that complete a look, the modern gentleman can build a wardrobe that feels both practical and elevated.
This summer, the suit is no longer confined to convention. It becomes a reflection of individuality, confidence, and the understanding that true sophistication is always in season.

Lo Kee has officially settled into Atlanta’s West Midtown, bringing a fresh blend of Asian‑fusion flavors and Southern comfort to the city’s dining scene. The restaurant sits at 2 Interlock Ave NW and has already started drawing attention for its bold menu, stylish atmosphere and the kind of energy that makes a night out feel special the moment you walk in.
Owners Dara Mirjahangiry and Ivi Shano are no strangers to creating buzz. Most travelers think of Cancun first when they picture Mexico’s beaches. The turquoise water, the soft, white sand and the energy of the Hotel Zone have shaped the destination’s reputation for decades. But the Mexican Caribbean is much larger and far more layered than the single image most people hold onto. Stretching along the eastern edge of the Yucatán Peninsula, the region includes twelve destinations that each bring their own personality to the coastline: Isla Mujeres, Costa Mujeres, Holbox, Cancun, Cozumel, Maya Ka’an, Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Mahahual, Bacalar and Chetumal. Together, they create a version of Mexico that feels familiar in its beauty but full of new possibilities.
What makes the Mexican Caribbean stand out is how easy it is to explore. With international airports in Cancun, Cozumel, Chetumal and the newly opened Tulum International Airport, the region is more connected than ever. Daily nonstop flights from major U.S. and Canadian cities make the trip feel effortless, and the new Tren Maya, which spans nearly a thousand miles across the peninsula, is reshaping how visitors move between destinations. It opens the door to itineraries that feel fluid and adventurous, where you can spend the morning in Cancun, wander archaeological sites in Tulum by afternoon, and settle into a quiet dinner in Bacalar by nightfall.
induldge
The culinary scene is another part of the region that is quickly redefining expectations. Traditional Mayan techniques and coastal flavors still anchor the experience, but the area has stepped confidently into the world of fine dining. The Mexican Caribbean now holds three Michelin-starred restaurants, four Bib Gourmand designations and thirteen Michelin-recommended spots. In Cancun, restaurants like Kiosco Verde and La Casa de las Mayoras earned recognition in Mexico’s first Michelin Guide, signaling a new era for the city’s dining culture. Whether you are tasting ceviche by the water or settling into a room overlooking the Nichupté Lagoon, food becomes part of the story.
Resorts across the region are also elevating what an all-inclusive stay can look like. Hyatt Vivid Grand Island in Cancun is one of the newest openings, a 400 - suite property designed for young adults who want something relaxed, modern, and social. The rooftop pool stretches across the skyline with views of both the Caribbean and the lagoon, and the atmosphere leans into crafted cocktails, fresh ceviche and a steady flow of music. Guests have access to ten dining venues, six bars, three pools and Ennea Beach Club. The resort’s activity lineup ranges from pottery and pastry classes to tequila tastings, glow volleyball and Golden Hour parties, creating a stay that can shift from calm to lively without losing its sense of ease.
Secrets Mirabel Cancun Resort & Spa brings a different kind of escape. Set in the heart of the Hotel Zone, the adults-only property blends romance with a polished, modern aesthetic. The resort features 487 suites, six pools, eight restaurants, and six bars, all wrapped in the brand’s Unlimited Luxury experience. Dining spans French, Mediterranean and contemporary Mexican with a Yucatán influence, and Preferred Club guests receive access to rooftop spaces, private lounges and oceanfront terraces with plunge pools. The spa, with its Mayan-inspired therapies and hydrotherapy circuit, adds another layer of calm.

Beyond the resorts, the region is shaped by its culture and natural landscapes. Archaeological sites like Tulum, Cobá, El Rey, El Meco, San Miguelito, and Muyil offer a direct connection to the area’s Mayan history. Cenotes create some of the most surreal swimming and snorkeling experiences in the world. The Nichupté Lagoon is home to the famous Jungle Tour, where visitors drive their own mini speedboat
through mangrove canals before snorkeling in open water. Shopping ranges from designer boutiques and upscale malls like La Isla Shopping Village and Luxury Avenue to local markets filled with handmade pieces. Golfers can choose from seven courses with ocean and lagoon views. Every destination offers its own version of these experiences, some polished, some wild, all unforgettable.

When it comes to luxury beauty treatments and services, I want to know I am in the most skilled hands and that my best interest is kept in mind. As someone who is new to injectables, I needed some hand holding as I ventured into uncharted territory, and ALCÔVE AESTHETICS did exactly that with me.
ALCÔVE AESTHETICS, as their website states, “blends medical expertise with an artistic understanding of balance and structure. We specialize in results-driven treatments that restore, refine, and enhance—always with respect for your unique features. Our philosophy centers on longterm outcomes, natural results, and care you can confidently trust.”
Arianna Callan Semenukha and Helen Zhang, the founders of ALCÔVE AESTHETICS, met March 2022 while working together at a medical aesthetics practice. “From day one, we shared a similar vision for what aesthetic medicine could and should be. We wanted to create a space that redefines the stigma around aesthetic medicine by focusing on natural, ethical results, and personalized care. We also saw a lack of diversity and representation within the industry and wanted to build a practice where all patients feel seen, welcomed, and cared for.”
ALCÔVE AESTHETICS opened their doors near Chastin Park earlier this year in January. “We both love the Chastain community and everything the area has to offer, so it felt like the perfect fit.” As soon you walk in, you’re enveloped by an elevated aesthetic with a calming, nature-inpsired color palette; chic, modern furnishings; and curated art. “Luxury is a feeling. It's knowing you're being cared for by people who truly listen and having an experience that feels thoughtful from beginning to end,” says ALCÔVE’s founders.
Their menu of services includes injectables (Botox, facial fillers, collagen stimulators, non-surgical BBL) and skin treatments (Ariessence PDGF, medical weight-loss, salmon DNA, PRP therapy, facials). During my consultation with Helen, who is also a certified physician assistant (PA-C, MPAS), she explained what needed to be done prior to achieving the results I desired. Her vast knowledge and thorough explanation immediately put me at ease and helped me to understand the process. This level of attention and expertise is what sets ALCÔVE AESTHETICS apart from other med spas. “Our approach is centered around natural results, patient education, and creating treatment plans that are tailored to the individual rather than chasing trends. We are a woman-founded, provider centered medical aesthetics practice that believes less is often more.”
What treatments are clients most excited about right now?
Arianna Callan Semenukha & Helen Zhang: “Patients are especially excited about building their foundation through full facial balancing and investing in their skin with transformative treatments like CO2 laser resurfacing.”
What is one treatment you personally swear by?
AC & HZ: “Honestly, consistency. There isn't a single treatment that's more important than showing up for your skin regularly. The best results come from a long-term approach, whether that's Botox, microneedling, skincare, or a combination that's right for you.”
As female founders, what has the journey of building this business been like?
AC & HZ: “Building ALCÔVE has stretched us in every possible way. There have been moments that tested us and moments that reminded us exactly why we started. Watching something that once existed only as an idea become a place that people genuinely love has been incredibly rewarding.”
What strengths do you think each of you brings to your business?
AC & HZ: “Helen is a provider first and foremost. She cultivates meaningful relationships with patients and has an exceptional eye for facial artistry and clinical outcomes. She also has a clear vision for the brand and its future. Arianna's strengths are business development, operations, and growth strategy. She has a passion for building teams, creating exceptional client experiences, and scaling businesses.”
What advice would you give other women wanting to launch their own business?
AC & HZ: “Do it and do it afraid. Waiting until you feel completely ready usually means waiting forever. Some of life's biggest opportunities come from taking the first step before you have all the answers.”
Describe your brand in three words.
AC & HZ: “Refined. Inclusive. Intentional.”

Located in the heart of Islamorada, Three Waters Resort & Marina offers a refreshing take on Florida Keys luxury. Just under two hours from Miami, the drive itself sets the tone, with open-water views, palm-lined roads, and a noticeable shift in pace as you get closer, giving way to an unmistakable
Set across 15 waterfront acres, the resort feels expansive yet surprisingly easy to navigate. Paths wind between guest rooms, pools, dining venues, and the marina, all anchored by constant views of the water.
The design of the resort leans into a more relaxed, coastal aesthetic with a slightly modern edge. The open-air, breezy layout creates an environment that feels like you can spend the day exploring every inch of the property over and over again. It’s the kind of resort where you can settle in quickly and immediately feel like you're on vacation.
Accommodations at Three Waters are intentionally different, giving guests different ways to experience the resort depending on the kind of stay they’re after. The main resort offers a mix of rooms, suites, and cottages, all designed with a light, coastal feel and easy access to the property’s pools, beach, and dining.
For a more elevated, adults-only experience, The Cove acts as a resort within the resort. Tucked away from the main energy, it offers a quieter, more private setting with its own pool, beach area, and oceanfacing rooms. It feels more boutique, with a slower pace and a stronger sense of retreat, ideal for those looking to fully unplug.
A resort within a resort, designed for a quieter, more elevated stay.
The resort also offers standalone cottages and villastyle accommodations, allowing for additional space and a more residential feel while remaining connected to the full Three Waters experience.
Having stayed at The Cove, I immediately noticed the difference. The atmosphere completely shifts. It’s calmer, more tucked-away, and leans into a slower, more relaxing pace. Yet this area still allows easy access to everything the larger resort offers.
Dining at Three Waters is definitely a central part of the experience, with multiple concepts that let guests shift between casual and elevated throughout their stay.
Little Limón, the resort’s rooftop restaurant, brings vibrant energy with fresh seafood, citrus-forward dishes, and an impressive selection of tequila and mezcal, all paired with sweeping panoramic ocean views.
Mercado Morada serves as the resort's social hub, offering an open-air market atmosphere for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A mix of bold Latin flavors, live music, and communal seating creates an energetic environment that naturally draws guests in.
For something more laid-back, Islamorada Pizza Co. offers a playful, retro setting with house-made pies, and Hideaway provides a relaxed, poolside option ideal for a midday pool and beach visit. Just steps away, an on-site Starbucks makes early morning coffee runs and midday pick-me-ups effortless.
A visit to the Tiki Bar is essential. Located along the marina, it blends history with a lively, come-as-you-are atmosphere. Live music, waterfront views, and a menu of classic cocktails make it the liveliest gathering place to transition into the evening.
The Tiki Bar, home of the original “Rum Runner” cocktail, remains one of the resort’s most iconic spots.
And lastly, for a more elevated dinner experience, Kindler offers a refined setting focused on wood-fired dishes. It provides an amazing contrast to the resort’s more casual venues while still maintaining the relaxed Keys atmosphere. The Filet Mignon is a must-try, so perfectly cooked with a subtle woodfired finish that makes it one of the most memorable bites of my stay.
Days at Three Waters are designed to be as active or as relaxed as you want. A private beach, multiple pools, and marina access offer plenty of ways to spend time on the water. Beach cabanas provide a more secluded, luxurious option, which creates the perfect setting for a full day of sun, ocean air, and uninterrupted downtime.
A beach-cabana day is by far the best way to experience the resort at its slowest pace.
Whether lounging poolside, kayaking on the water, or simply walking along the shoreline, the connection to the environment is truly the core of the resort. Guests can move from cocktails at the marina to dinner, or end the night quietly on a private terrace with the sound of the water in the background. Either way, you truly are one with nature wherever you go.
Three Waters Resort & Marina is the perfect balance between energy and ease. It has the energy and amenities of a full resort, but never loses that easy, unbothered Keys feel. You fall into that feeling fast. Mornings stretch, afternoons drift, and plans seem to work themselves out. By the time you leave, it’s not about what you checked off on your itinerary, it’s about how effortlessly it all came together.

Charlotte, North Carolina is a city defined by unapologetic beauty and soul. Its skyline is often viewed as glass towers and a global banking hub; however, the powerhouse city is coming back to reclaim its crown. Named in 1768 after Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, the wife of British King George III, the city has not outgrown its royal lineage. “The Queen City” continues the legacy of Queen Charlotte through its bold artistic and musical livelihood, a tribute to her passions.
While the towers of Uptown flex the city’s financial muscle, its heartbeat resides in the surrounding historic neighborhoods that fan out from its center. The pieces of history, with deep, evolving souls, stem from the culinary hub of Elizabeth and the vibrant streets of South End, to the calm, ever-evolving art scenes of Dilworth and Plaza Midwood.
Perpetual evolution is nothing new for the Queen City. During the American Revolution, the resistance to British rule by the Patriots was so great that British General Lord Charles Cornwallis branded the land as “The Hornets’ Nest” during the Battle of Charlotte in 1780. Just as Charlotte did during the battle, it’s fighting back to reclaim its crown once again.
TONIDANDEL-BROWN RESTAURANT GROUP
The independent spirit of Charlotte is unmatched, especially now during its era of historic architectural preservation. Behind the revival of the city’s beautiful past are restaurant owners Jeff Tonidandel and Jamie Brown, the engine behind the Tonidandel-Brown Restaurant Group, best known for their restaurants, Supperland and Leluia Hall.
The group owns six restaurants in the city of Charlotte just over a decade after their first opening. Brown later wrote more about the highs and lows of restaurant ownership in her book, “Eleven Tables: A Wild Ride Through Food, Failure and Figuring It Out.”
Slowly but surely, Brown is breaking the mold of corporate America ruling over the city of Charlotte; however, she still believes that her job is not finished. “I think we're working on an identity shift for the city,” says Brown. “It's a work in progress and don't think we're at the end yet.”
Leluia Hall
Leluia Hall’s menu is full of “bright citrus flavors that follow a steak and surf concept,” says Brown. The restaurant resides in what was once Dilworth Methodist Church, which first opened its doors in 1896. Guests can indulge in fresh seafood such as ceviche and crudo at the raw bar.
Supperland
Supperland, a Michelin-recommended restaurant in 2025, resides in a “restored mid-century church, once named Plaza Midwood Church of Christ, which was built in 1948,” says Jamie Brown. If you are looking for a hearty Southern meal, Supperland is exactly where you will want to pull up a seat. “Supperland's menu is very Southern, hearty and warm; we do a lot of steaks over there, but one of our flagship dishes is our pot roast served in a three-legged pot. It's just very warm, hearty and soulful,” says Brown.
HISTORICAL LUXURY LODGING
To fully absorb the preservation of the city, visitors should look towards Uptown for high-end, boutique hospitality. Among them, the gold revolving doors of the Ivey’s Hotel seamlessly blend history with luxury.
What once started as a department store in the 1900s, founded by Joseph Benjamin Ivey, is now an exclusive hotel that offers 47 elegant guest rooms and access to their private Liberty Lounge. The original columns from the days of the department store are still standing in the hotel's atrium.
While enjoying your stay, stroll down to its associated restaurant, Sophia’s Lounge, named “Best Upscale Cocktail Bar” by Charlotte Magazine.
Fine Dining
As the sun sets in the city, the doors of the deluxe dining locations are opening for business. Charlotte is the epicenter for unique eateries, with two of the most popular being Customshop and Primefish Cellar.
CUSTOMSHOP, ELIZABETH
Awarded a Michelin recommendation in 2025, Customshop brings a blend of Latin and Italian notes alongside North Carolinian produce to the table, priding itself on their seasonal menu.
PRIMEFISH CELLAR, PROVIDENCE RD.
A newer addition to the culinary scene, Primefish is a hidden Michelin recommended gem. Offering the finest wines and sake available in the area, the gourmet restaurant also features A5 Wagyu, Otoro tuna, King Musk Melon, Fresh Wasabi Root, Truffles and Caviar.
THE ART OF UPTOWN
Bechtler Museum of Modern Art: Adjacent to the Mint Museum, the Bechtler houses European, American and mid-20th-century modern art, primarily from the surrealism, cubism and pop art movements.
Mint Museum Uptown
Just steps away from the city's financial epicenter is the first-ever art museum in North Carolina. The Mint hosts one of the largest collections of American, modern and contemporary art in the Southeast.
RECLAIMING THE CROWN
Whether you are drawn by the aroma of the three-legged pot roast in a historically salvaged church or by the urban art of the Uptown museums, Charlotte is outgrowing its reputation as a corporate finance hub by preserving its architectural history. For the curious traveler, take I-85 to discover the heart of the Queen City.
UP AND COMING: WYATT'S SUPERFINE
Jeff Tonidandel and Jamie Brown are persistent in finding more historic sites to preserve Charlotte's original beauty. “Jeff and I just had the opportunity at the end of September 2024 to move a former 1903 grocery store that was about to be torn down and rename it Wyatt’s Superfine, after the original owner, Pleasant Wyatt and the superfine milling level used to make most breads and pastas,” says Brown. The newest addition to the Tonidandel-Brown Restaurant Group is not

POWER PLANT
MUSES
From a turn-of-the-century power plant to Savannah’s epicenter of luxury, the JW Marriott Savannah, located in the Riverside District, has elevated expectations of the coast of Georgia. Marrying industrial history with Southern hospitality, this riverside enclave invites guests to embrace vibrant nightlife, exceptional dining, and refined relaxation.
The power plant, built in 1912 by George Baldwin and engineers from Stone & Webster, still stands today and was reimagined into a luxury oasis for every local and visitor to enjoy. The landmark, awarded the AAA Four Diamond, offers lavish staycations, weekend getaways, nights out for drinks and dinner, as well as a tour of its renowned art gallery and 135-foot chrome-dipped skeleton named Ms. Chromina Joule.
The property’s 419 select rooms are spread across three distinct buildings named The Three Sanctuaries: the Power Plant, Three Muses and the Atlantic, allowing guests to choose their ideal lodging aesthetic. Each building has a distinct theme. The Power Plant focuses on "reimagining history," where the exposed 1912 brick walls and iron elements feature a deep, moody aesthetic of purple and green. The Three Muses strives to "inspire beauty" through a soft blue and chrome elegance, and the Atlantic hones in on the "bespoke luxury" with its sleek, nautical aesthetic.
Start the perfect summer weekend with a massage or facial from the Poseidon Spa, then go shopping at the 12 Plant Riverside District stores that carry everything from art, jewelry, clothing and sweets. While walking the grounds of the enclave, stop by the open-air museum located in the Plant Riverside District main lobby to view museum-quality geodes, fossils, and historic artifacts. Next, make your way to the Atlantic building to experience the interactive “That Great Gretsch Sound!” museum, a partnership between the Fred and Dinah Gretsch School of Music at Georgia Southern University and the Kessler Collection that features over 135 years of Gretsch’s history.
Before dinner, wind down the day at the Compass Pool and Lounge. Located on top of the Atlantic building, escape to an oasis of tranquility, have a seat in a cabana, and let all of your worries fade as you enjoy a personal server, welcome drinks, fresh-cut fruit, gourmet food, and towel service while facing the riverfront.
At the end of the day, explore Savannah’s vibrant dining scene and pick from one of 13 restaurants on the property. The JW Marriott Savannah features dining options for every occasion, whether it be a weekend brunch, a special event, a relaxing meal with your family or a night out with friends. From the modern Southern charm of Stone & Webster Chophouse, located in the heart of the Plant Riverside District, to the sophisticated culture of the Baobab Lounge and the casual comfort of Riverside Burger, all of your dining needs will be fulfilled.
To cap off the night, head up to Electric Moon Skytop Lounge, located in the Power Plant building of the Plant Riverside District, to enjoy a stunning view of the iconic Savannah riverfront. While dancing the night away or enjoying a night with friends and family, sip on gourmet handcrafted cocktails from a competitor for the top nightlife location in the city. Make your way back to the ground level to enjoy toptier music at District Live, Savannah’s premiere music venue; check its website for upcoming events.
Before heading home, utilize the resort’s ultimate luxury perk: a firstcome, first-served, chauffeur-driven Genesis car service that takes guests for a spin around the Riverside District before merging onto I-16 West to head back to Atlanta, after an incredible stay at the JW Marriott Savannah Riverside District.

CHARLESTON PLACE
Historic charm in the heart of Charleston
BY TAHTIYANA MILLER
Charleston has always had a gift for holding onto its past. Cobblestone streets, centuries‑old architecture, and the rhythm of horse‑drawn carriages create a city that feels suspended in time. The Charleston Place, set at the crossroads of King, Meeting, and Market Streets, carries that same spirit forward, offering a stay that feels rooted in tradition yet shaped by the way people travel today.
Since opening in 1986, the hotel has become one of Charleston’s defining landmarks, a place woven into the city’s story as much as the city is woven into its own. What began as a bold vision to transform an empty parking lot into a destination has become the cornerstone of Charleston’s hospitality scene, helping put the city on the map as a beloved, award‑winning getaway. The creation of the Charleston Place marked a real turning point for Charleston, helping shape the city into the destination it is today.
Inside, the atmosphere feels both grand and inviting. The Georgian‑style architecture, brick façade, and signature faux earthquake bolts nod to Charleston’s historic buildings, while the sweeping staircase and hand‑blown Venetian chandelier — a 12‑foot‑wide Murano masterpiece made of more than 3,000 pieces of glass — set the tone for the experience.
What truly defines The Charleston Place, though, is its devotion to the art of hospitality. There’s a sense of intention in the way the property moves—in the service, in the design, in the way spaces encourage guests to slow down and settle in. It recalls a more gracious era, one where travel felt personal.
That feeling carries into the newly reimagined guest rooms and suites. The refreshed design introduces a calm, residential sensibility: soft blue accents, tailored millwork, sculptural brass lighting and custom carpets inspired by Charleston’s ironwork. Artwork reflects the surrounding Lowcountry landscapes, grounding each room in a strong sense of place. Every detail— from the seating nooks to the rattan textures—is considered, creating a retreat that feels elevated without losing its warmth.
Beyond the rooms, the hotel’s amenities encourage guests to explore, unwind, and connect. There’s The Spa at Charleston Place, a serene escape offering natural facials, massages and body treatments; a 24‑hour fitness center; a 50‑foot horizon‑edge mineral pool with a retractable glass roof; and The Club, a private lounge with all‑day culinary offerings and dedicated service.
Dining is a defining part of the experience as well. The Thoroughbred Club remains a favorite—a dark‑wood, leather‑lined lounge inspired by Charleston’s historic jockey club, complete with nightly live music and a lush seasonal patio. The Palmetto Cafe brings a garden‑inspired brightness to breakfast and lunch, while Meeting at Market offers an elevated tavern setting overlooking the City Market. And for a limited time, Chef Daniel Humm’s year‑long pop‑up brings a world‑class culinary perspective to Charleston ingredients.
As beloved as the property is, The Charleston Place is also looking ahead. A $150‑million reimagination is underway, led by Atelier Kim, introducing redesigned banquet spaces, refreshed restaurants and expanded gathering areas—all inspired by the Lowcountry’s natural beauty and Charleston’s classical architecture. The transformation aims to elevate the guest experience without altering the character that has defined the hotel for nearly four decades.
The meeting and event spaces have already debuted their new look, including a redesigned grand ballroom, expanded pre‑function areas, two new meeting rooms and a stunning 1,100‑square‑foot bridal suite. Across the street, the historic Riviera Theater—restored by the hotel after decades of disrepair—continues to serve as one of the city’s most unique venues for performances, weddings and events.
In a city that honors its history, The Charleston Place stands as a testament to the enduring power of hospitality. By preserving the traditions that shaped its legacy while embracing thoughtful reinvention, the hotel offers something rare: the chance to experience the elegance of another era, with all the comforts of today.
A COASTAL RETREAT
JEKYLL ISLAND CLUB RESORT
BY TAHTIYANA MILLER
WITH A STORIED PAST
Jekyll Island is one of Georgia’s most peaceful coastal destinations, known for quiet beaches, natural beauty, and a history that reaches back centuries. The Jekyll Island Club Resort sits at the center of this landscape and offers a stay that feels calm, comfortable, and connected to the island’s past. Long before the island became a retreat for well‑known families, it was home to the Guale and Mocama people. Their relationship with the land shaped the earliest identity of Jekyll Island, and their presence remains part of the island’s cultural story today. Guests who visit the resort are never far from this history, and it adds a meaningful layer to the experience.
The resort’s historic Club property is located in the island’s well‑preserved Historic District. The Clubhouse, built in 1888, is the centerpiece of the area and still carries the charm of its original design. Wide porches, tall towers, and shaded lawns create a setting that feels timeless. Walking through the district brings guests past cottages once owned by families like the Rockefellers, Pulitzers, and Morgans. These buildings help tell the story of the island’s Gilded Age era and give visitors a chance to explore a place where many important moments in American history took shape.
Guests who prefer a modern coastal stay can choose the Jekyll Ocean Club. This oceanfront tower offers spacious suites with private decks that look out over the Atlantic. The atmosphere is relaxed and bright, with easy access to the beach and a private ocean‑view pool. The Ocean Club is also home to Eighty Ocean Kitchen and Bar, which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a focus on fresh coastal flavors. The resort’s complimentary shuttle connects the Ocean Club to the Clubhouse, making it simple to enjoy both sides of the property in one stay.
Dining is an important part of the experience at Jekyll Island Club Resort. Guests can enjoy breakfast in the historic Grand Dining Room or stop by The Pantry for sandwiches, smoothies, and salads. The Wharf offers riverfront dining with Southern favorites, while Alexander’s Bar and Boar’s Head Lounge provide classic cocktails and a comfortable place to unwind. The Pool House and Sand Bar offer casual options for guests spending time outdoors. With seven restaurants and lounges across the resort, there is always something to enjoy, whether the day calls for a relaxed meal or a more refined dining experience.
The resort offers a wide range of activities that make it easy to enjoy the island’s natural setting. Guests can relax by the pool, spend time on the beach, or play croquet on the Clubhouse lawn. Bike rentals, dolphin cruises, horseback riding, and kayaking give visitors a chance to explore the island from different perspectives. The Georgia Sea Turtle Center, located nearby, offers an educational look at sea turtle rehabilitation and is a meaningful stop for guests of all ages. Golfers can visit Pine Lakes Course, the island’s longest course, which winds through forest and marsh areas for a quiet and scenic round.
Jekyll Island Club Resort is also a strong choice for meetings and events. The property offers 200 accommodations across the Club and Ocean buildings, along with a variety of event spaces that can host small gatherings or large groups. The Clubhouse features elegant rooms with historic character, while Crane Cottage and Cherokee Cottage offer private spaces that work well for retreats or celebrations. The Morgan Center is the largest venue and can host major events with ease. With flexible layouts, catering options, and attentive service, the resort provides a setting that helps groups stay focused while still enjoying the coastal environment.
A stay at Jekyll Island Club Resort brings together comfort, history, and the natural beauty of Georgia’s coast. Guests can enjoy quiet mornings, fresh coastal meals, and meaningful experiences that highlight the island’s past and present. Whether the visit is for leisure, business, or a peaceful escape, the resort offers a place where travelers can slow down, explore, and appreciate everything that makes Jekyll Island special. It is a destination that encourages guests to return and enjoy the shoreline again.
