Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund
A summary booklet of all grant awardees from the Scottish Government's Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund administered by VASA. Year 4 AWARDEES

Chatty Spaces Grant
From an overall fund of £331,942.13 from the Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Funding for Adults, 11.5% was allocated to successful applicants for the ‘Chatty Spaces’ fund which allows local organisations to deliver a regular social space in their community, bringing people together to socialise and ultimately reduce isolation and loneliness. Grants for this fund were up to £5K. 12 local, grassroots organisations were successful in securing just over £38K of funding to deliver on this particular initiative.
Annbank Over 60's

Annbank Over 60’s aim to tackle isolation in the older population, within their local area. They meet up two afternoons per week on a Monday and a Thursday in Mossblown Community Centre.
This facility allows older members of the local villages to come together and engage with one another in a secure, warm and friendly environment while enjoying a host of activities.
The purpose of the group is to enhance the mental health and well-being of their members, by engaging in a variety of activities such as carpet bowls, curling, dominoes, card games and more.
The organisation also provides entertainment for special occasions like Burns Night, Valentine’s Day, Easter, Halloween, St Andrew’s day and Christmas.
By celebrating these special days together, it assures that the Over 60’s in the community, know they have somewhere and someone to celebrate with if they should want company, instead of feeling excluded and isolated at home.

Annbank Parish Church

Annbank community garden and cosy space runs on a Tuesday morning 10:00 am - 12:00 noon. The garden is situated at the back of Annbank Parish Church. We offer teas, coffees, biscuits, cake and even some home baking from time to time, at every meeting.
Attendees can enjoy time in the garden helping others or can just have a chat while enjoying a cup of tea.
This year’s funding allows Annbank Community Garden and Cosy Space to continue to expand on the garden project that was set up from funding in previous years.
We are building up our range of tools and equipment that is both essential and required to be able to work the garden. These tools are also adaptable to people that are not so able bodied but who are willing to help.
We are already seeing most of the people involved with the project sharing a passion of what they are helping to create and they also share a vision of what the project potentially will look like. Our hope for the future is to have space where people can come and sit, do a bit of gardening if they would like to or just come for the company but to most of all to enjoy the space we are continuing to create.

Flourish - Awareness, Breath & Cold
Flourish - Awareness, Breath & Cold project aims to create a welcoming, safe space for adults in Troon to improve their mental health and wellbeing through breathwork, cold water therapy, and social connection.
By offering regular sessions, the project will help participants reduce stress, manage anxiety, and combat depression. Activities focus on promoting mindfulness, emotional resilience, and positive habits while fostering a supportive community.
Sessions will run fortnightly in Troon. This initiative is particularly aimed at older adults and those experiencing loneliness, offering an effective, preventive approach to mental health through holistic practices.
Each session will incorporate three key elements:
Awareness: Participants will engage in mindfulness and self-awareness practices to ground themselves, helping to manage stress and enhance emotional resilience.
Breathwork: Guided breathwork will promote relaxation, reduce anxiety, and improve focus. This is a powerful tool for preventing mental health issues and fostering long-term wellbeing.

Community Wellbeing Hub CIC

Community Wellbeing Hub CIC in Maybole supports residents in the Carrick area with integrative healthcare, wellbeing sessions, community groups, and outreach.
The fourth year of CMHWF funding will allow the Hub to expand on the huge success of the last 3 years, offering blocks of holistic therapy sessions to Carrick residents who are struggling with a
long-term health condition/disability, or stress, anxiety, or depression.
Referrals come from NHS channels, GPs, Community Links workers, Social Work and Mental Health Services, and the outcomes of the previous years have been very well received by the health professionals.
A number of clients who benefitted in years 1 - 3 have gone on to change their lives dramatically. Many now volunteer with The Hub, and a number have now retrained as holistic therapists and set up their own businesses/CICs.

Statistical data collated during the 2024/25 block showed a significant increase in wellbeing, alongside a significant decrease in levels of pain, stress and anxiety. We aim to build on this success and empower many more people to better manage their condition and lead a more fulfilling life.

Harbour Ayrshire

Harbour Ayrshire continue to work at the core of the South Ayrshire community providing a lifeline to the most marginalised people in the most deprived areas who are affected by drug and alcohol addiction.
The Charity takes a community-based, peer-led approach to recovery from addiction. Founded in 2022, it offers safe, welcoming support groups for both men and women, run by people with lived experience. These groups help individuals not only with addiction and mental health challenges which are interlinked together with homelessness, and bereavement.

The service includes support before and after rehab (called PREHAB and aftercare), ensuring people are not left on their own. There’s also an out-of-hours helpline for those in crisis. Programmes like Empower HER and Men Only Time offer tailored support, helping people build confidence, trust, and resilience in a non-judgemental space.
Funding received through years 2 and 3 helped the Charity to firmly establish its presence across South Ayrshire supporting our volunteer co-ordinator role and this year will support our dedicated Recovery practitioner role in South Ayrshire providing 1:1 support and supporting beneficiaries to group support.

CONSORTIUM GRANT
For the first time, applications were open for Consortium Bids for up to 40K. A min of 3 organisations had to come together to put forward a collaborative bid to deliver a project focusing on either Mental Health or Dementia.
One successful bid received £40K to deliver The Blue Health, Green Health Hub

Adventure Centre for Education
The Outdoor Partnership
Ayrshire Hospice

The Blue Health Green Health Hub - Expanding Access to NatureBased Wellbeing in Girvan and Beyond
Now entering its next phase, the Blue Health Green Health Hub based at Girvan Harbour continues to grow as a beacon for nature-based wellbeing in South Ayrshire. Building on last year’s success. As part of a consortium bid the project is expanding its reach and deepening its impact through new partnerships with The Outdoor Partnership and Ayrshire Hospice—working collaboratively to offer tailored activity wellbeing programmes days that serves a broader range of community needs across South Ayrshire.
The Girvan hub provides a supportive and inclusive space for individuals to experience the scientifically supported benefits of time spent in natural environments, drawing from Blue Mind theory, Green Health approaches, and seasonal wellbeing models.
Thanks to funding from the Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund. Our consortium bid enabled an expansion of the wellbeing models across other areas of South Ayrshire with new organisations and groups. Through a mix of land and water-based activities such as mindful coastal walks, canoeing, forest bathing, yoga, paddle boarding, we aim to reduce social isolation, improve mental health, and foster a sense of belonging. 34
This year sees a specific focus on supporting those living with lifelimiting illness, those who are bereaved, and individuals facing transitions or challenges in life. Our collaboration with Ayrshire Hospice is enabling the delivery of gentle, therapeutic sessions at the pace of participants, while our link with The Outdoor Partnership supports inclusive access to the outdoors, including those with long-term health conditions and disabilities.
By tailoring experiences to individuals and seasons, the Girvan Hub continues to be a flexible and responsive resource for wellbeing. With a dedicated indoor and outdoor meeting space at the harbour, and growing community engagement, our vision remains simple but powerful: that anyone, regardless of background or circumstance, can access meaningful, nature-connected wellbeing support close to home.

We are delighted to be able to roll out the Blue and Green Health model in partnership with Ayrshire Hospice and The Outdoor Partnership, Ayrshire. This will allow our consortium bid funding to have a wider impact and broader community benefit.
