Mr. Volcker envisioned a public sector workforce with the experience, preparation, and commitment to ensure that government is accountable and delivers with excellence.
There has never been a more critical and publicly resonant moment to advance Mr. Volcker’s vision. By listening, learning, adapting, and innovating, the Volcker Alliance has developed a strategy for public service renewal in 2026 and beyond:
Drive constructive public service narratives and messaging
1 3 2 4
Expand the reach and scale of civil dialogue initiatives

Prioritize research that provides the knowledge government needs to deliver
Activate early-career leaders who are ready to serve and connect them to government jobs

How do changes to the size and composition of the federal workforce influence government’s capacity to attract talent, retain expertise, and deliver services?
How do we curate and sustain critical data when traditional and trusted data sources disappear?

What are the impacts of government restructuring on service delivery across the federal, state, and local levels of government and the nonprofit sector?
