River Collection
In 1989, a spark of imagination on the frozen banks of the River Torne in Jukkasjärvi, Sweden, gave rise to one of the world’s most enchanting creations— the IceHotel. Visionary artist and entrepreneur Yngve Bergqvist first opened Arctic Hall, a simple igloo-like structure, an art gallery built from ice and snow. Its popularity grew quickly, and soon all the lodging in the local village was full. Bergqvist invited some tourists to stay in Arctic Hall, laying reindeer skins on the ice and putting out sleeping bags rated for the zub-zero weather. The guests had a marvelous time in their unique accomodations. This gave birth to the IceHotel concept. Bergqvist turned a fleeting winter exhibition into a shimmering palace of dreams. What began as an experiment in art and adventure soon became a global wonder—a living, melting masterpiece reborn anew each winter under the dancing glow of the Northern Lights.

No two years are ever alike— each suite, hallway, and sculpture is a unique expression of creativity, from shimmering ice chandeliers and frosted forests to ethereal dreamscapes that seem to glow from within. All the art is “original and protected under trademark law,” bringing a unique experience for guests, and a fantastic opportunity for the creators. In 2024, Annasofia Mååg sculpted “Whoops Wrong Room!!” featuring a rhinocerous head crashing through an ice wall, with slabs of ice scattered all around. In 2022, Chris Pancoe and Peter Hargraves created “The MushRoom” suite, sculpting giant mushroom caps with carved gills encompassing the ice-slab bed, plus 20 foot ice snails to watch over slumbering guests.

How To Use Your Catalog

How to Care For Your Fabrics
The care instructions in this catalog are a conservative path, but not an absolute. There is no one size fits all for fabric care because of all the variables, such as hard versus soft water, well and septic versus municipal water, washers with and without a center aggitator, dryers that have a no-heat option, etc.
One supplier would have everyone dry clean every fabric, but for many of you this is not feasable.
Here are some general guides. You can always use your swatch to test how a fabric will react to washing and drying. Test wash the way you plan to wash your finished garments - this will remove any sizing and shrinkage prior to cutting/sewing.
Pro-Tip: Set your washer for an extra long spin cycle to remove excess water, then toss in the dryer on low heat for 5 minutes before hanging or laying flat. This minimizes wrinkles, and helps fibers last longer.
