The increase in residential developments and public school educational facilities directly adjacent to the campus created the need for an indoor firing range for the college. This project included the replacement of the existing outdoor livefiring range with an indoor facility, which not only provided safety for surrounding developments, but also increased safety and usability by the college and its students.
The 34,898 sf facility features 50-yard and 100-yard range and support areas, office, ammunition, and target storage rooms, armorer workroom, and classroom. The area is used to help train area police departments, and other law enforcement groups.

Aledo ISD Police Department building was conceived to serve dual operational and secure support functions, with spatial zoning that segregates public-facing areas, administrative offices, and secured workspaces. Its layout addresses critical circulation flows by providing controlled entry, dedicated evidence storage, dispatch/communications zones, interview rooms, and offices in discrete clusters for privacy and operational efficiency. The architectural design accommodates future scalability—wiring, infrastructure, and shell space were sized to allow upgrades in surveillance, access control, or expansion of staff functions. Over time the facility has evolved in finish and systems, but its foundational spatial planning continues to support the complex safety, support, and response needs of the district.
