If it’s your first time in Narrm (Melbourne), wominjeka! That’s welcome in the local Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung language.
Victorians love sports – and this summer has some of the year’s biggest sporting fixtures. A key pillar of our events calendar is the iconic Boxing Day Test at the MCG, with Australia to play India this December. Later in the season, the Australian women’s cricket team will look to continue their dominance of the sport during the 2025 Women’s Ashes.
But that’s not all – there’s a two-match international friendly soccer series between the Matildas and Chinese Taipei in Melbourne and Geelong, the 2025 Australian Open tennis, the Yayoi Kusama exhibition at the NGV and the Australian Open golf.
It’s also festival season. Make a beeline for the free fun of the St Kilda Festival and then there’s Victoria’s biggest celebration of queer culture with the Midsumma Festival. Plus, it’s the perfect time of year to explore rooftop bars, or cruise the Yarra River.
