Art and culture thrive here, with world-class galleries, public art, and impressive theatrical performances. Vero Beach is the perfect destination for those seeking a relaxing and luxurious tropical retreat.
Indian River County is a destination of delightful contrasts, home to three vibrant and unique cities: Vero Beach, Sebastian, and Fellsmere. Each city offers a distinct personality, from upscale coastal living to lively riverfront adventures and tranquil rural escapes. Let's explore what makes each one an unforgettable part of your Florida getaway.

Nestled along the scenic Indian River Lagoon, Sebastian is a lively town with a spirited, down-to-earth vibe. Known as a paradise for water lovers, it offers endless opportunities for boating, fishing, and kayaking. Sebastian is a hub of activity, with famous annual festivals, local breweries, and welcoming restaurants that capture its vibrant community spirit. For thrill-seekers, the city offers everything from skydiving to deep-sea fishing. Don’t miss a visit to the historic Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge, a unique landmark that adds to the town's natural allure.

Step back in time to the tranquil, unspoiled landscapes of old Florida in Fellsmere. This quiet retreat is a true rural wonderland, defined by its undeveloped lands and thriving ecosystems. It's an outdoor enthusiast’s dream, offering exceptional birding at the T.M. Goodwin Waterfowl Management Area and legendary bass fishing at Farm 13/Stick Marsh. Fellsmere is also the proud home of the annual Fellsmere Frog Leg Festival, a two-time Guinness World Record holder. Kayak along the peaceful shores of Blue Cypress Lake and you're likely to spot a flourishing osprey population. Fellsmere is the perfect destination for anyone looking to reconnect with nature and experience Florida's wild, authentic side.

Located along Florida's scenic Atlantic coastline, Indian River County is the perfect getaway. We're just a short drive from some of the state's most popular cities—only 85 miles southeast of Orlando, 65 miles north of West Palm Beach, and 136 miles from Tampa. Find your escape right here.

BY CAR: Conveniently located off Interstate 95 (I-95), which runs north to south, connecting major cities along Florida’s east coast. There is also US Highway 1, which runs parallel to I-95. BY BOAT: If traveling by boat, Indian River County offers several marinas and docking facilities. Enter through the Sebastian or Fort Pierce inlets then choose your desired docking location. Some options include Vero Beach City Marina, Sebastian Inlet Marina, and Loggerhead Vero Beach Marina.
BY AIR: Vero Beach Regional Airport (VRB) provides direct access to our destination with Breeze Airways, and beginning in December 2025, JetBlue will also offer select flights and in February 2026, American Airlines with direct flights to Charlotte, NC. Travelers can also fly into nearby airports for additional options—Melbourne Orlando International Airport (MLB) and Orlando International Airport (MCO) to the north, or Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) to the south. With so many convenient choices, getting to Indian River County couldn’t be easier!

In Indian River County, summer feels like a year-round state of mind! While the summer months are warm, with average highs in the upper 80s to low 90s, the other seasons offer a refreshing reason to explore our great outdoors. Our winter nights can be cool, with temperatures occasionally dipping into the 40s, so pack a light jacket or sweater for those cozy nights by the fire. But no matter when you visit, always be sure to pack your bathing suit and flip-flops—it’s typical Florida wear!
In Indian River County, professional ambition and coastal tranquility coexist perfectly. Here, you can have a productive morning meeting and still be on the Indian River Lagoon for a sunset paddleboard session. It's a place where work thrives and life unfolds vibrantly.
Our economy is anchored in key industries like healthcare, education, and manufacturing. Offering creamy, handcrafted flavors, Yami’s is the perfect spot for a refreshing mid-day treat!
Evening: Dinner & a Show. Return to Vero Beach for your final evening. For dinner, try The Wave Kitchen & Bar at Costa d'Este Beach Resort & Spa for a sophisticated meal with an ocean breeze. Protecting our natural beauty—especially our sea turtle nesting beaches—depends on all of us. When you visit, you’ll find easy and meaningful ways to help keep Indian River County pristine for generations to come. Here are a few ways you can join in:
Look for the free Beach Baskets at many of our public beach access points. These simple baskets are there for you to use while enjoying the sand—pick one up, collect any debris you see, and help leave the beach even cleaner than you found it.
Want to make an even bigger impact? Join a Coastal Cleanup during your visit! These events bring the community together to remove debris from beaches, lagoon-front parks, and walkways. It’s a hands-on way to give back to the place you came to enjoy.
Anglers can help protect sea turtles, manatees, and other wildlife by using the colorful monofilament recycling tubes located at beach accesses, piers, jetties, and boat ramps. Place used fishing line and tackle inside so it can be safely recycled and kept out of the water.
Your sustainability efforts don’t have to stop at the beach. Once you’re home, look for local WRAP (Wrap Recycling Action Program) collection sites where you can recycle plastic bags and wraps. Small steps like these help keep plastics out of our waterways and oceans.

*reminder, Sea Turtle season occurs in Florida from March 1 - October 31, so please be mindful to keep our beaches clean, not disturbing or touching any nests, and if you choose to walk at night please no white lights or flash.
Stretching across 22.4 miles of pristine shoreline, Indian River County’s beaches are some of the most important sea turtle nesting grounds in the world. From the Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge and Sebastian Inlet State Park to Round Island Beach Park, these sandy shores host thousands of nests each year. Loggerhead and green sea turtles are the most common visitors, and their nesting activity plays a vital role in keeping our coastal ecosystem thriving.
Every summer, nonprofit Coastal Connections offers guided, permitted Turtle Walks at night and Turtle Digs during the day— giving you a rare chance to witness these ancient mariners up close. Along the way, you’ll discover how sea turtles protect our oceans, why their survival is so critical, and simple ways you can help them move off the endangered species list. For dates and details, visit their website or follow them on social media.
