As we transition into Fall, I hope you all had a great summer and thank you for all of your support for the many events hosted by the Redmond Chamber; our six Music on the Green concerts, the Fourth of July Parade, Redmond Brewfest and Night Glow, our Chamber Golf Tournament, Lunch and Learn, After Hours and more. We look forward to fall and of course making Redmond a special place for the holidays. Leadership With Fall comes the next class of Leadership Redmond. I know I have already talked about Leadership Redmond last month, but we are now ready to launch the 21st year of the program. I am always eager to get the program started and once again have a very dynamic lineup for this year’s class. I feel very fortunate to have facilitated each year and to watch the participants leap headfirst into leadership roles throughout the community. The partnership between the Redmond Executive Association and

the Redmond Chamber has created a program that has demonstrated value and effectiveness. The Leadership Board is tremendously honored by the vote of confidence we continue to receive from all our Day Sponsors, participants, scholarship providers and the City of Redmond. Throughout the years, they have continued to see value and support the program with their funds, time and energy. The City’s support of Leadership Redmond, both by presenting valuable information during the program and by having sent participants through the program, which is greatly appreciated. I encourage anyone who is interested in learning more about Redmond to check out the program and give me a call. It is not too late to join this year’s class. Chamber Board Elections September is also the month where we elect new Board Members, so I encourage you to keep an eye out for your 2026 ballot. Board candidates are selected by a nominating committee made up of current board members and presented to the full Board for approval.

The committee reviews all candidate qualifications and which sector of the community they represent. The goal is to have a diverse representation of the Redmond community. All candidates must have expressed a willingness to serve on the Board and have an understanding of the duties and responsibilities. Ballots will be sent out by September 24 and must be returned by noon, October 6, 2026. If you are interested in learning more about serving on the Board, please notify any Chamber Board member or myself anytime throughout the year. The Chamber One important thing to remember about the Chamber is we are a representation of our membership and your input matters. October is the month we have a Board retreat, and we will plan out the direction of the Chamber for the year(s) ahead. If there is something you would like to see the Chamber explore, be sure to let us know and we will bring it up at our retreat. The Chamber works hard to support our member businesses, and to
foster and create a sense of place, where businesses thrive and people want to live, work and play. Connecting businesses and bringing the community together is part of our strategic planning. We have a small, yet mighty, Chamber team of four, and with the help of our Board of Directors, Chamber members, our sponsors, volunteers and Ambassadors (returning soon), we can accomplish almost anything. Central Oregon organizations receive $10,000 from OnPoint Community Credit Union OnPoint Community Credit Union gave $10,000 to Central Oregon organizations in September 2026 to support local children and families. The Great Drake Park Duck Race OnPoint Community Credit Union donated $5,000 to the Bend Rotary Club Foundation for the Great Drake Park Duck Race on September 13. The annual event brings the community together at Drake Park for a day of activities and the signature duck race, with proceeds benefiting local nonprofits. Since launching more than 30 years ago, the event has raised more than $2.5 million for Central Oregon charities. This year’s beneficiaries include Friends of the Children, KIDS Center, Saving Grace and Family Kitchen. Through the event, OnPoint and fellow local credit unions are working together to give back to the community and help local organizations continue providing important resources and services to Central Oregon. Friends of the Children Abundance Dinner & Auction OnPoint Community Credit Union donated $5,000 to Friends of the Children Central Oregon for its third annual Abundance Dinner & Auction on September 17. The event is the organization’s largest annual fundraiser. Friends of the Children Central Oregon pairs children facing significant obstacles with paid, professional mentors called Friends. The organization makes a long-term commitment to each child, providing one-on-one mentorship from early childhood through high school graduation. OnPoint’s support helps Friends of the Children Central Oregon continue making a positive impact for youth throughout the region.

Goblins, Ghouls, and a Very Different Day on the Golf Course Fall brings plenty of business events to the calendar, but few come with costumes, trick-or-treat holes, and the chance to improve your score with a well-timed Monster Mulligan. The Redmond Chamber’s Goblins and Ghouls Golf Tournament returns on Friday, October 23, 2026, at Crooked River Ranch Golf Course, and we’re inviting Chamber members to gather a team, get creative, and spend the day connecting with fellow businesses in a setting that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

Trick or Treat on 6th Street Returns to Downtown Redmond Halloween in Redmond has a way of bringing people downtown, and one of the biggest reasons is Trick or Treat on 6th Street. On Saturday, October 31, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, the Redmond Chamber and First Interstate Bank will once again help turn 6th Street into a walkable Halloween celebration for families and local businesses. For two hours, 6th Street will be closed from Black Butte to Forest, giving families a safer place to move through downtown, show off costumes, and collect candy from participating businesses. It has become one of Redmond’s largest Halloween gatherings, drawing thousands of local residents into the heart of town. That turnout is a big part of what makes the event special. Kids get an evening built around candy and costumes, parents get a community event that is easy to navigate, and businesses get the chance to meet people face to face in a setting that feels relaxed and festive. For downtown businesses, the event is an easy way to step outside, decorate the storefront, pass out candy, and take part in the energy on 6th Street. For businesses that are not located downtown, there is still plenty of room to get involved. 10x10 booth spaces are available along the event route, giving local organizations the chance to set up, hand out candy, and introduce themselves to the community.
That business participation is what helps give Trick or Treat on 6th Street its character. The event works because the business community shows up. Each booth, storefront, costume, and bowl of candy adds to the experience families remember when they think about Halloween in Redmond. It is also a chance for businesses to be visible in a way that feels natural. Instead of a traditional sales event, companies are meeting families, talking with neighbors, and being part of an annual tradition that brings people together downtown. The Chamber will post a list of participating businesses on the website, and updates will also be shared through the Facebook event as Halloween gets closer. 2026 Crooked River Ranch Annual Community Yard Sale
There’s one annual event in Crooked River Ranch that residents and visitors look forward to— and inquire about—all year long: the Crooked River Ranch Annual Community Yard Sale! This much-loved three-day tradition takes place every year on the first Friday, Saturday, and Sunday following the Labor Day holiday. This year, the community came together on September 11, 12, and 13 for another fun-filled weekend of treasure hunting, visiting, and great bargains. A total of 77 residents signed up to participate. The process is simple: residents complete an entry form with their address and the days they plan to hold their sale, then pay a minimal $5 fee. In return, their address is included on the community yard sale map and they receive a ready made yard sale stake. And, as always, rain, shine, snow, or perfect weather—the yard sale goes on! The popularity of this event reaches well beyond Crooked River Ranch. People from all over Oregon have been known to schedule their vacations around the annual yard sale, staying with friends and family, at local hotels, or at the CRR RV Park. For many, this weekend has become a cherished yearly tradition. Of course, no Crooked River Ranch yard sale weekend would be complete without the CRR Lions Club Hot Dog Sale! Held Friday and Saturday at the Old Fire Hall at the top of Hill Road, the hot dog line stays busy, and the delicious aroma seems to attract even the pickiest eaters. The FireWise Committee also joined the weekend festivities with an informational table at the Old Fire Hall. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with residents who may not have been familiar with what it means to be a FireWise community. The committee shared educational materials and talked with residents about the many benefits of meeting FireWise neighborhood requirements. At the heart of the weekend is the simple joy of cleaning out garages and closets, discovering forgotten treasures, and passing along items that are no longer needed. After all, as the saying goes, “One person’s junk is another person’s treasure!” With friendly faces, great finds, tasty hot dogs, and plenty of community spirit, the Annual Community Yard Sale once again gave Crooked River Ranch residents and visitors a wonderful weekend of fun.
