What to eat? Guinea pig (“cuy”) plays a prominent role in regional dishes, for example, cuy chactado (breaded with corn flour and deep-fried) and pepián de cuy (stewed meat with peanuts and spices). Other emblematic preparations are huatia (potatoes cooked on hot stones with rocoto and aromatic herbs) and homemade noodles, served with chicken stew and chuño kapchi. The meal is accompanied by a delicious ponche, a punch served with grated coconut and cañazo.

What to buy? Furniture carved in huaranhuay wood, among other decorative and household objects. Ceramics, alpaca fabrics made on waist looms, objects carved with the cornoplasty technique, and dolls with typical costumes of the region.
