2024 ANNUAL REPORT

A Letter From the President & CEO

Dear Industry Partners & Community Stakeholders,

We are so grateful for the strength of our Jefferson Parish tourism industry and the tremendous community that we encompass together. The entire team and I are excited about the successes we achieved together in 2024. Our sales team saw fantastic growth with an estimated $28 million in economic impact from group sales. This growth is heavily reliant on our convention centers and hotel communities working with our sales team to meet the clients’ demands. What a great team effort!

We strategically focused on partnerships with social media influencers to extend our reach to our target audience. While we are in the early stages of this strategy, we have already reaped dividends on this investment. We truly appreciate your partnership in helping not only these influencers but also our invited travel writers to experience Jefferson Parish so they can help us invite the world to be our guests!

After much planning, 2024 saw the introduction of the Community Champion Program. As a result of creating these new concepts, we are delighted to welcome LCMC and BMW, as Community Champion partners with Visit Jefferson Parish!

The Oyster Trail has become a leisure visitor favorite over the years and in 2024, we enhanced this program to include a partnership with urban South, as the official beer of the Trail. Look for more Oyster Trail partners coming in 2025.

The long-anticipated Foodie Feast Jefferson Parish Restaurant Week had its inaugural debut in 2024 much to the delight of locals and visitors alike. We look forward to this event growing each year. A big thank you to the participating restaurants!

Thank you for your commitment and dedication to making each visitor’s experience excellent!

All the best,

OUR VISION

As a brand-driven destination leader, Visit Jefferson Parish is innovative and influential in attracting new visitor business to the parish tourism/hospitality industry and host communities.

OUR PROMISE

Jefferson Parish, with its key getaways of Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport and Interstate 10, offers unique and affordable family-oriented dining and shopping and immersive nature-based recreational and group event experiences. Comprised of the Mississippi East and West Banks and the Gulf Coast, the area showcases lively suburban business districts and historic neighborhood communities, espousing a distinct character of friendliness, fun and relaxation. Jefferson Parish is assuredly the real connection to the Louisiana family entertainment lifestyle.

ACCREDITED

Visit Jefferson Parish is accredited through the Destination Marketing Accreditation Program (DMAP) by Destinations International. This esteemed global recognition signifies Visit Jefferson Parish meets the performance standards in destination marketing and management. We are committed to upholding these standards and to being effective leaders in our industry.

Jefferson Tourism by the Numbers

Jefferson Parish continues to demonstrate its strength as a major tourism destination, boasting a $2 billion visitor industry that supports approximately 21,000 hospitality jobs. The parish plays a vital role in Louisiana's tourism landscape, ranking second highest in the state for visitor spending, employment earnings, and government revenue generated through tourism.

While awaiting the release of the 2024 Visitor Spending Report from the Louisiana Office of Tourism, the outlook for Jefferson Parish's visitor spending appears promising. We anticipate that the 2024 report will show visitor spending remaining consistent with previous years.

In 2023, visitor spending in Jefferson Parish reached $1.95 billion, supporting 21,492 hospitality jobs with over $658 million in earnings. Visitor-generated state and local taxes contributed nearly $198 million to the parish, providing over $1,150 in tax savings for every Jefferson Parish household.

PR & Media Marketing

Working with travel writers, journalists, and bloggers is a powerful strategy for promoting culture, attractions, and experiences through authentic storytelling and personal experiences.

Outreach is consistent through travel industry associations, media travel conferences/tradeshows, and through media partnerships. Direct media outreach through our partnership with the Louisiana Office of Tourism (LOT), North American Travel Journalist (NATJA), Society of American Travel Writers (SATW), and Travel Bloggers Exchange (TBEX) provided opportunities throughout the year to pitch story ideas and introduce the destination to travel writers and journalists and influencers.

Our partnership with Meltwater, an online media monitoring company, provides comprehensive media monitoring and analysis across online news, social media, print, broadcast, and podcasts.

Visit Jefferson Parish annually attends media and PR conferences to enhance its relationships with travel industry professionals and deepen its understanding of media and communication trends within the travel sector. This proactive approach helps us to network and build relationships; these conferences offer invaluable opportunities to connect with travel journalists, influencers, and other tourism industry stakeholders, fostering relationships that can lead to positive media coverage and collaborative ventures. We also stay abreast of industry trends; the rapidly evolving media landscape and travel industry necessitate continuous learning.

It helps gauge their views on the benefits of these efforts and identifies areas where improvements are needed. This regular feedback is essential for adapting advocacy strategies and member benefits to better suit our stakeholders, and to resolve concerns.

The annual membership meeting was held in October at the newly opened Treasure Chest Casino. Attendees were presented with a report on the state of Jefferson Parish tourism, an overview of the preparation and expectations for Super Bowl LIX presented by the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation CEO, Jay Cicero, as well as the election of the 2025 Board of Directors, and the presentation of the Virgie Ott Tourism Award.
