RECREATION PROGRAMMING

Farragut Parks & Rec offers a variety of recreation programs that help make our community a fun, healthy place to live and play. Follow us on social media, check out our website or visit the Farragut Community Center to see the latest updates and join the fun!

ADULTS & FAMILY

Mahjong and Gaming Club

Every other Tuesday, 3:30-5 p.m.

Ages 9 and up, free Join us to learn new games! There will be special classes to learn mahjong, tong-its, chess, checkers and other organized board games For the full schedule, click here.

Earth Day Adventure Challenge

April 18-26

Outdoor Classroom-Wed. Apr. 22; 9-6 p.m.

Chair Yoga for the Wise Farragut Community Center

Mondays, April 6-June 29;5-6 p.m.

Ages 50 and up; $75 for all classes

Students will engage in a 60-minute embodied movement session aimed at having fun while connecting our minds with our bodies and breath via movement in a safe environment with a qualified, former professor whose grant-funded research focused on this work. Sessions will be tailored to meet students’ needs and interests. Students will need to wear clothing that allows for movement and bring a workout/yoga mat, water bottle, and towel. Goals: To support students multi-dimensional health and wellness (eg, concentration, muscle tone, self-esteem, flexibility, emotion regulation and more) Register here.

Celebrate Earth Day all week long with Farragut Parks & Rec! Starting on Saturday, pick up an Adventure Challenge sheet at the Farragut Community Center. Complete at least 8 tasks before Sunday, April 26, and win a nature-themed Parks & Rec sticker! P.S.one of the tasks *may* include planting some seeds at the Farragut Outdoor Classroom on Wednesday, April 22 from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. in pots that you'll be able to take home! Design a Wreath Workshop

Wednesdays, Apr. 15 & June 10, 6-7 p.m.

Ages 16 and up, $15 per class

Want a unique and festive wreath for your front door? Design and create your own wreath at this program. One wreath per registrant and all decorating supplies be provided. Preregistration is required Sign up for each day individually. Register for the April Class. Register for the June Class.

Line Dancing

April 10, May 7, June 5, 6-9 p.m.

Ages 8 and up, $5 per person

Meditation & Mindfulness for All Levels

Farragut Community Center

Mondays, April 6-June 29;6-6:45 pm

Ages 18 and up; $75 for all classes

Join us for an evening of line dancing! We will use our projector to display the steps and instructions needed to learn The goal is for community members to have fun dancing together in lines. Click here to view online.

Family Basketball

Thursdays, 4-6 p.m.

All ages, $2 per person

No need to pre-register – just bring a ball and get ready to play! Please arrive a few minutes early to check in and get your free community center membership. This session is specifically for youth and families to shoot around and play without the intensity of pickup open gyms. Click h t i li

Students will learn about and receive the opportunity to engage in various meditation and mindful practices of increasing difficulty in a safe environment with a qualified, former professor, whose grant-funded research focused on this work. Practitioners, regardless of skill level, will receive tailored guidance to meet their individual needs, interests, and experience. Students will need to bring a water bottle, wear comfortable clothes. A meditation pillow, blanket/mat and any other prop support is welcomed.

2-tiered goal: (1) To support students confidence in their capacity to continue their personal meditation practice after our 3-month training. (2) To support students multi-dimensional health and well being. Register here.

Drop-in Dodgeball

Tuesdays, 7-9 pm

Ages 18 and up, $2 per player

Volleyball Open Gym

Mondays, 5:30-9 pm

Drop-in Dodgeball provides adults the opportunity to make friends and get exercise by playing a weekly game of dodgeball. We will divide into two teams and play classic dodgeball. We look forward to playing with you! Click here to view online.

Spring Adult Volleyball Leagues

Cost: $180 per team for recreation and intermediate leagues.

Registration ends Thursday, April 9

Spring recreational league (six players) Register your team here. Games will be played on Monday evenings beginning April 6 at Mayor Bob Leonard Park. Two women must be on the court at all times.

Ages 14 and up; $4 per person

Beginner Ballet

Level 1: Thursdays, 3-4 p.m. Ages 4-6,

Level 2: Thursdays, 4-5 p.m. Ages 7-12

Cost: $30 per month

Beginner Ballet teaches the fundamentals of ballet and focuses on grace, flexibility, teamwork and creativity. Please come to class with hair pulled back, tights, leotard, ballet shoes and a smile! Click here to view online Register for each month individually.

This 4-week chess program introduces young players to the basics of chess through interactive lessons and guided play. Participants will learn how the pieces move, practice simple strategies, and build confidence while playing with others. Designed for beginners no experience needed, just a readiness to learn and play. (Introduction to Chess, Piece Movement/Basic Strategies, Practice Play & Mini Matches) Register here

H.A.B.I.T. Dog Reading

Mondays in April; 4:30-5:30 p.m.

Ages 5-13; $2 per child

Join a HABIT (Human-Animal Bond in Tennessee) dog for a reading hour! This is a great opportunity to improve read-aloud skills, socialization, and enjoy quiet, creative activities. Parents must stay with participants during this program. Click here to view online.

Elementary Homeschool PE

Grades K-5 (ages 6-10)

Tuesdays through May 12, 3:30-4:30 pm

Wednesdays through May 13, 1-2 p.m.

Cost: $2 per child

Middle School Homeschool PE

Grades 6-8 (ages 11-14)

Wednesdays through May 13, 2:30-3:30 p.m.

Cost: $2 per child

This homeschool PE class will feature sports and group games that emphasize teamwork, good sportsmanship, physical activity and fun! Participants must be at least 6 years old to participate. Preregistration is not required. Click here to view online.

Learn to Ride a Bike Workshop

Mayor Bob Leonard Park

Monday, May 4 & 11; 4:30-6 p.m.

Ages 5-8; $5 per child

This is a course for kids learning how to ride a bicycle and getting them more comfortable on a bike (only --10--spots available!) Meet at Mayor Bob Leonard Park by the East Diamond. Ages 4-12; $2 per child

Kids Craft Camp

May 26-30; 2-4 p.m.

Learn a Sport Series

Tuesdays, May 26-June 23, 4:30-5:15 p.m.

Kids can learn and practice different crafts. Some examples are paper mache, no sew lap blanket, stitching plastic canvas, tie-dye, and making recycled paper This is a great opportunity to find a new hobby, work with your hands, and practice trying new and diverse crafts. Please come with an open mind and some clothes that can get dirty There is a chance that we will go outside for a portion of one or more days. A more precise schedule will be sent to each registered child’s parent/guardian via email when it gets closer to the program date. All supplies are provided. Dino Day

Ready, set, play! In this active and exciting 5-week series, kids will get hands-on experience with a different sport each week perfect for trying new activities, building skills, and staying active From soccer and basketball to kickball and more, each session is led by experienced instructors in a fun, supportive environment. Community Service Club

This will be a class-like program once a week for the month of June. We will come together to do small community service projects either around the Community Center itself, or smaller projects in the classroom that will be delivered by staff! Register here.
