The 3rd Summit of the Americas Meeting
A Meeting of the Presidents of the National Societies of Ophthalmology Sponsored by the Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology and the Pan-American Ophthalmological Foundation Westin Lima Hotel Lima, Peru Tuesday, August 8, 2017 8:30 am – 5:30 pm
Goals and Objectives: The purpose of this meeting is to bring together the Presidents of the National Societies of the 26 member nations of the PAAO to 1) describe the current status of ophthalmology in the Americas; 2) to provide practical approaches to dealing with the common primary issues facing ophthalmology in the Americas; and 3) to enable solutions to these problems with the assistance of the Pan-American. Methodology/Format: The PAAO will provide experts in key focus areas to address the conference participants and to stimulate exchange of information between the national societies. (Simultaneous translation) Subject matter: The Summit will deal with four primary issues: 1) Results from the survey; 2) Elevating and regulating the level of residency training; 3) The current status of the relationships with Industry; 4.) Advocacy and the Defense of Ophthalmology; 5) The ways in which the National Societies can benefit from membership in the PAAO.
