Last month’s partial solar eclipse caused great excitement across the UK, bringing eye protection messaging to the front pages ahead of this month’s National Eye Health Week.

F

or those who regularly get behind the event, Eye Health UK has once again produced a package of free resources – so head over to the campaign platform at the earliest opportunity to plan your participation.

While safely viewing the partial eclipse was described as a ‘once-in-a-generation’ opportunity, ensuring patients’ eye safety in more everyday work and leisure situations is often overlooked. This is the focus of our first product profile this month from EssilorLuxottica, which has partnered with Univet to offer members a complete range of prescription safety eyewear. Our second product profile looks at how Avizor’s new generation of peroxide-based care systems is helping eyecare practitioners respond to rising concerns around lens-related eye infections – in particular sight-threatening Acanthamoeba keratitis. And how these care systems sit alongside important clinical messaging around hand hygiene, water contact and regular aftercare. As the NEG Building for Success conference fast approaches, we are delighted to present a preview of this year’s suppliers exhibition, which promises to be packed with new products and services, familiar faces, new faces and some special offers just for delegates. With its ‘future is brighter together’ theme, the conference will be focused on positivity, growth and collaboration within the independent sector – so make sure you’re part of the conversation.

Heart Eye

From this month, Heart Eye joins the NEG Preferred Supplier community – offering member practices a clinically-validated heart health assessment tool based on the fundus photograph. Heart Eye is a non-invasive MHRA-registered, CE-marked AI solution that reads a single standard retinal photograph and returns a heart risk assessment in about one minute. Heart Eye then shares a digital report direct with the patient, along with a personalised patient video and GP follow-up guide. The retinal microvasculature structure is a direct window onto systemic vascular health, and Heart Eye reads it directly. The tool is backed by more than 80 peer-reviewed publications, including a landmark Lancet Digital Health paper showing accuracy on par with a CT score in a UK population. The software is practice-neutral and validated across the major fundus camera platforms, so it runs on equipment already in the practice consulting room. Heart Eye will be at the NEG/AIO conference in October, offering a special discount valid for four weeks from the event. Turn to page 19 for our exhibition preview.

Design Eyewear A new capsule Face à Face collection has been launched by Design Eyewear, called Out Of Office – based around the humorous premise of the ever-missing office stapler. Each featuring the humble staple, the new frames draw their design inspiration from the streets of Paris, contemporary fashion and trending colours. The collection of 12 frames is aimed at office workers who prefer to embrace their individuality, each with its own distinct personality. The frames are available in a restrained palette of transparent acetates and structured tortoiseshells, enhanced by vibrant pastel accents with sculpted details creating multiple reflections within the

the acetate, symmetrically engraved temple tips, and temple branding to resemble a keyboard typing.

Stepper Stepper has introduced a new AI-powered knowledge platform developed to support both eyecare professionals (ECPs) and patients. It’s called Ask Stepper, and is available in two bespoke versions. Ask Stepper for ECPs and practice teams provides detailed product information, frame materials, anatomical fit principles, World Fit expertise, marketing resources and training support. The patient version is designed to help explain the benefits of frame materials, anatomical fit, comfort and design in a clear, accessible language. “Ask Stepper has been developed to complement the expertise of eyecare professionals by making trusted Stepper knowledge instantly accessible,” explained Peter Reeve, Stepper UK managing director. “Whether supporting practice teams with product information or helping patients better understand the importance of anatomical fit and comfort, our goal is simple – to help practices deliver the very best dispensing experience and vision outcomes.”

News Théa Pharmaceuticals The Théa Group has signed a long-term strategic industrial partnership with Unither Pharmaceuticals, aimed at supporting the group’s growth in Europe. Under the agreement, a new 20,000m² production unit, located at the Gannat site (Allier) in France, will be dedicated to the manufacture of Théa’s sterile ophthalmic products – designed and operated by Unither. The project represents a total investment of more than €140m. Due for completion by the end of this year, the facility will include several production lines for preservative-free sterile multi-

dose bottles and single-dose units. It will ultimately be capable of producing more than 50 million Théa treatments per year for the French and European markets. The first pharmaceutical validation batches are expected from 2027. Industrial operations are scheduled to begin in 2028, with the first commercial launches in 2029. Jean-Frédéric Chibret, president of the Théa Group, said: “This agreement goes far beyond a traditional relationship between a pharmaceutical company and an industrial partner. Having a production facility dedicated to our products represents an exceptional commitment that reflects

Jean-Frédéric Chibret

the trust we have built with Unither Pharmaceuticals and our shared long-term vision.” Théa ophthalmic products are available to practices in the UK from Théa Pharmaceuticals.

Consultation on the sight test

General Optical Council The General Optical Council (GOC) is consulting stakeholders on a draft updated statement on sight testing, and draft revisions to the supervision/delegation standards. The consultation addresses delegation of some parts of the sight test, as well as separation of the sight test by time, person and/or place. The GOC said it particularly wanted to hear views on options for oversight of unregistered colleagues undertaking delegated activity – including if this can be permitted without a registrant being on the premises.

Eyespace

Cocoa Mint CM9967 C1

Eyespace has added six new metal styles to its Cocoa Mint Studio collection, each offered in two distinct colourways. Sculpted rims, tiered linear detailing and cut-step edges define how the two shades in each frame meet, while contrasting colour block lamination across the temples and acetate tips carries the combination through to the side profile. Colourways range from bold pink with deep red and purple with forest green, to softer light gold with champagne and burgundy with rose gold. Across the collection, Global Recycled Standard certified recycled stainless-steel forms the foundation of every frame, with integrated flex hinges and self-locking screws for comfort and durability. Bio-based acetate temples and tips feature across four of the six styles, and biodegradable demo lenses reflect Eyespace’s ongoing commitment to responsible design, with eye sizes running between 51mm and 54mm. Pictured is hero style CM9967 C1, featuring a cut-step detail on the rim exposing the second plating colour along the step, so the red and pink front shifts as the wearer moves.

Steve Brooker, GOC director of regulatory strategy, commented: “Our position on delegation reflects expert consensus that certain pre- and post-screening checks can be effectively and safely delegated, as commonly happens now, freeing up optometrists to focus on clinical decision-making and patient care. Our proposals should not require registrants to change their approach in this respect, but we hope the statement will provide welcome certainty for the profession.” The consultation closes on 21 October, and responses can be submitted via the GOC consultation hub or by emailing consultations@optical.org Vision Now September 2026 9

National Eye Health Week

Countdown to eye health campaign

National Eye Health Week will take place from 21 to 27 September, with each day themed to keep conversations around eye health fresh. Throughout the week, Eye Health UK will use real-life stories, research, media and targeted community outreach to share advice about eye health. More than 50 resources are available from early this month, including posters, leaflets, recipe cards, infographics template letters for MPs, schools packs and social media assets. This year’s Vista magazine offers advice and inspiration for readers about looking after their eyes, while other tools to help practices make the most of the Week include an exclusive podcast, online risk checker and sight loss simulator. A new eye health report will also be published and supported by a national media campaign, whilst changemaker briefings and specially curated content will help raise optics up the public health agenda and involve political and public health champions. Access resources to support the campaign at www.visionmatters.org.uk

New Race II by Prodesign

Design Eyewear Prodesign has relaunched its Race II concept, bringing five masculine shapes together in a clean, technical expression built around quality, comfort and adjustability. Understated metal colours are broken by coloured milling details, adding a sporty sense of movement to the frame. The line details are now more vertical and slightly longer, while the temple tips have been updated to a rectangular form that supports the orthogonal design. The frames are amongst the first to be launched under Prodesign’s updated brand identity, which includes a new ‘As you are’ platform that articulates its long-standing perspective on individuality. “We’re not redefining Prodesign, we’re revealing it more clearly,” said Maria Sletten, brand manager at Prodesign. “The foundation has always been strong. What we’ve done is remove the noise and bring forward a more confident, honest expression that reflects who we are today.”

Association of Optometrists The Association of Optometrists (AOP) has published a new report calling for consistent commissioning of low vision services (LVS) across the UK. In November 2025, the AOP hosted a consensus workshop with stakeholders to review current provision, identify the characteristics of effective services, and agree on practical next steps.

Call to action on low vision services

The report summarises these findings, and recommends that comprehensive LVS should be available in all nations, supported by clear referral pathways. Emma Spofforth, optometrist and AOP Board member, said: “Fragmented provision and long waits in certain areas can mean patients are unable to access the care that

they rely on. Local charities play an essential role in providing support to patients, yet funding remains an issue. Every area of the UK needs a properly commissioned low vision service so that no-one faces sight loss without a clear pathway to the support they deserve.” The report identifies the need to develop a business case for LVS by consolidating existing evidence, addressing research gaps, and demonstrating the potential for services to reduce pressure on other parts of health and social care. AN INDEPENDENT VIEW Staying at the leading edge Independents are renowned for being early adopters of clinical innovation and new technology. As it was with OCT, so it is now with AI for eyecare practitioners (ECPs), smart eyewear and the sustainability agenda. Staying at the leading edge is an important differentiator for the independent sector. However, that is becoming more of a challenge. As the sector has shrunk, particularly through acquisition by various corporates, pressure has mounted on many suppliers that are solely reliant on independents. It has become more challenging to try and interact individually with independents across the UK, whereas with multiples and corporates it only requires one visit to a central procurement team.

It is why events such as the NEG/AIO Building for Success Conference are vitally important to the sector as they showcase leading edge clinical and business innovation in one place. The conference provides a great opportunity to spend meaningful time with exhibitors, as well as attend lectures and workshops; and of course gather some valuable CPD points. For suppliers, it is an opportunity to meet scores of practices in one place and arrange follow-up calls for those who would like them. The event is also a wonderful opportunity to network with fellow independents. It can sometimes seem a lonely existence as an independent, and it can be reassuring and comforting to know that there are hundreds of others out there living with exactly the same issues and pressures.

face-to-face meeting with members to understand what their issues are – and agree how the Association can help them. It is also an opportunity to keep members abreast of how the AIO represents the sector. Last but not least, the conference is a time of celebration of independent practice as an exciting and vitally important sector in the optical world.

Stronger together

e are all aware of the increasing pressures on independent practices across the UK. It’s not just that many practice are being bought out by larger groups, but the economy is also in a difficult place, with patients uncertain of what may lie around the corner. In saying that, however, many of our members are thriving and continuing to grow, particularly in specialist areas of clinical practice. We also have a growing number of practices joining the Group – some who have joined us after having acquired their first practice with others joining after buying additional practices. But importantly, all of our existing and new members are truly independent.

NETWORK OF SUPPORT What is really pleasing to us as a Group right now, is seeing the practices that join us realising that being independent doesn’t mean having to do everything on their own. By joining a group of like-minded clinicians and business professionals, they can get support to help maximise their practice’s potential and help take the strain off any challenges. That is why this year’s NEG Building for Success conference is titled, ‘The future is brighter together’, and why we have partnered with the Association for Independent Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians (AIO) to show even greater support for independent practices. Taking place on Sunday 18 October and Monday 19 October at the Hilton St George’s Park in Burton Upon Trent, the conference will bring together independent professionals from around the country to learn, share ideas and experiences, and engage with our ever-growing roster of preferred suppliers. Although many of our preferred suppliers are large multinational companies, all of them are dedicated to the success of the independent eyecare sector here in the UK. A big feature of this year’s conference is our line-up of CPD workshops taking place

Across the two days, delegates will be able to gain 12 CPD points from the workshops and one point from Elaine Grisdale’s lecture on working with dementia patients, providing a total of 13 CPD points to take away.

getting the very best out of your team and your business. One element of our conference that we are really proud of, is the celebration dinner, where we bring NEG members together with suppliers’ staff, to let down their hair, kick back and relax with some great food. This year, we are delighted that we will be joined by stand-up comedian, host and comedy writer – Jo Caulfield. With a formidable track record across British television and radio, including regular appearances on Have I Got News For You, Mock The Week and her own BBC Radio 4 series, Jo won the Takeover Radio Joke Award at the Edinburgh Fringe last year – so we’re really in for a great evening. With our fantastic new venue at the Hilton St George’s Park, this year’s conference really will be the very best we have ever organised. We hope that you can join us.

PRACTICAL TOOLS But it’s not all about CPD. As a business organisation, we want to make sure that our conference delegates gain a range of tools to take back to practice, that will make a real difference to the running of their business. This includes effective staff mentoring, and the latest changes to regulations around human resources. But we have also gone outside the optical industry to bring two high-profile keynote speakers to the event, whose insights and expertise will relate right back to independent practice. Both Ella Al-Shamahi, our Sunday keynote speaker, and Sir Clive OBE Woodward, our Monday keynote speaker, bring a wealth of knowledge around working together, evolving and

Not all lid-margin cleaning is equal BlephEx® is back!

Blephex® removes demodex & biofilm from inner and outer lid margins Preps the lid for easier gland expression

NEW COMPETITIVE PRICING

Improve patient outcomes & build your dry eye revenue

The only in office professional device that removes all Biofilm and demodex. Blephex should be your first line treatment for treating Blepharitis, MGD- Dry Eye Disease. Performing microblepharoexfoliation prior to meibomian gland expression is a critical step in comprehensive lid margin treatment. Over time, bacterial biofilm can form an obstructive“cap” over the gland orifice. Attempting gland expression without first removing this obstruction requires significantly greater pressure to force “sludgy” meibum through the blocked orifice. Clear the obstruction first, and expression becomes gentler, more comfortable and more effective.

A better outcome for your patient. A better result for you.

Founded on the fitting principles of German Master Optician, Hans Stepper, our frames are anatomically designed to support exceptional fit, lasting comfort and precise positioning of prescription lenses. Our World Fit philosophy recognises that every face is different. Advanced materials, including lightweight TX5 and titanium, help eyecare professionals (ECPs) find the right solution for individual wearers. This commitment extends to younger patients through Stepper Start, with frames designed specifically for growing faces, helping support comfortable, stable lens positioning throughout childhood and into the early teens. The result is eyewear designed not simply to look right, but to fit correctly and support effective vision correction. As a headline sponsor of this year’s conference, we are delighted to support NEG and ECPs dedicated to exceptional patient care.

PRODUCT PROFILE

Safety eyewear A growth opportunity and aesthetically refined. What distinguishes Univet is its commitment to continuous research and development, ensuring its products not only meet but often exceed required safety standards. This focus on innovation, alongside strict quality control and in-house manufacturing capabilities, gives practitioners confidence that they are recommending eyewear built for real-world performance. For opticians, this heritage matters – it provides reassurance that behind every frame is a manufacturer dedicated to protection, precision and wearability.

A rewarding addition to any practice offering

I

n today’s optical landscape, independent practices are continually looking for opportunities to differentiate themselves, deliver enhanced patient care, and unlock new revenue streams. One area that consistently remains underutilised – yet offers significant clinical and commercial value – is prescription safety eyewear. A BUSINESS ‘NO-BRAINER’ At its core, safety eyewear is about protection, but it is also about responsibility and professionalism. Every day, millions of people across the UK work in environments where eye protection is not optional – it is a legal and practical necessity. Additionally, there is a growing awareness among consumers of the importance of protecting their vision not only at work but also during domestic activities such as DIY, gardening and sports. Opticians are uniquely positioned to provide this protection. Unlike non-prescription solutions offered elsewhere, prescription safety eyewear ensures optimal vision correction while meeting the highest safety standards. This dual function enhances visual performance, reduces risk, and contributes directly to patient wellbeing. From a business perspective, safety eyewear represents: ■ A consistent demand stream driven by employers and workplace requirements ■A dditional dispensing opportunities, often for self-employed patients, DIY enthusiasts and domestic hobbyists ■A n additional reason for patients to return to the practice ■A service differentiator in a competitive marketplace

24 Vision Now September 2026

For many practices, the opportunity extends further through partnerships with local businesses. Becoming a trusted provider of prescription safety eyewear can open doors to corporate relationships and ongoing supply agreements. MEETING PATIENTS’ NEEDS Traditionally, safety eyewear has been associated with heavy, industrial designs that prioritise protection over aesthetics. While function remains paramount, wearer expectations have evolved considerably. Today’s patients want eyewear that: ■M eets stringent safety standards ■ Offers exceptional visual clarity ■ Provides all-day comfort ■ Looks contemporary and wearable This is where the modern safety eyewear category has transformed. Patients no longer want to switch between ‘work glasses’ and ‘real glasses’; they want a product that integrates seamlessly into their lifestyle. OUR UNIVET PARTNERSHIP Through our partnership with Univet, we are proud to offer a comprehensive safety eyewear solution designed specifically to meet these evolving demands. Founded in Italy, Univet has built a global reputation as a specialist in protective eyewear, supplying solutions across healthcare, industrial, and scientific environments. The company combines Italian design expertise with advanced optical and material innovation, enabling it to produce safety eyewear that is both technically robust

Eye protection is not optional for millions of workers

A COMPLETE RANGE Whether for heavy industrial settings, laboratory environments, or lighter-duty tasks, the Univet range includes frames designed to meet specific protection requirements. This ensures that opticians can confidently recommend appropriate solutions tailored to each patient’s working conditions. CONTEMPORARY STYLING Perhaps one of the most exciting developments in recent years is the introduction of safety eyewear that looks and feels like everyday eyewear. The Univet contemporary collection is a perfect example. These frames are designed to resemble standard optical frames, making them ideal not only for workplace use but also for domestic wear. Patients are far more likely to consistently wear protection if it aligns with their personal style – and that consistency is key to effective eye safety. QUALITY AND COMFORT Univet frames are engineered for durability without compromising comfort. Lightweight materials, ergonomic design and attention to fit ensure that wearers can use their eyewear

throughout the day without discomfort. For opticians, this translates to increased patient satisfaction and reduced risk of non-compliance. PRACTICAL SAMPLE SOLUTION We recognise that one of the barriers for practices entering or expanding their safety eyewear offering is the ability to effectively present the range. To address this, we offer a 16-frame sample set, housed in a professional presentation box. This set has been carefully curated to showcase the breadth and quality of the Univet range, enabling practices to: ■ Demonstrate different styles and fits ■ Engage patients more effectively ■ Provide a tangible, hands-on experience ■ Build confidence when recommending products As a member of the National Eyecare Group, practices can also benefit from an exclusive 10 per cent discount on this demonstration set, making it even easier to introduce safety eyewear into the practice with minimal initial investment. The presentation set makes it simple to integrate safety eyewear into the dispensing conversation – whether discussing workplace needs or domestic protection. EXPANDING BEYOND THE WORKPLACE While occupational safety remains a key driver, there is significant untapped potential in the domestic market. Many everyday activities carry a risk of eye injury: ■ Home improvement and DIY ■ Gardening and landscaping ■ Cycling and recreational activities By offering safety eyewear that looks like standard optical frames, practices can position these products as a natural extension of their core offering. This not only increases sales opportunities but also reinforces the practice’s role as a provider of comprehensive eyecare – not just vision correction.

Univet offers a complete safety eyewear solution

STAYING AHEAD OF INDUSTRY STANDARDS An important aspect of safety eyewear that cannot be overlooked is compliance with current regulations. The industry has undergone a significant transition from the long-established EN166 standard to the newer EN ISO 16321-1:2022 standard. This change reflects advancements in safety requirements and aims to improve the consistency and performance of protective eyewear globally. However, many practices may not yet feel fully confident with these updated standards. Understanding the differences is crucial when: ■R ecommending appropriate products ■C ommunicating effectively with employers and patients ■E nsuring compliance with workplace regulations SUPPORT THROUGH EDUCATION We believe that education is a key part of successfully integrating safety eyewear into practice. That is why, alongside supplying the Univet range, we offer in-practice education and support to ensure teams are fully up-todate with: ■T he transition from EN166 to EN ISO 16321-1:2022 ■K ey differences in testing and classification ■H ow to select the correct products for different environments ■B est practice in dispensing and patient communication PART OF EVERYDAY DISPENSING For practices that are new to safety eyewear, the key to success lies in making it a natural part of the dispensing process. Simple steps include: ■A sking patients about their occupation and hobbies ■H ighlighting the importance of eye protection where relevant ■D emonstrating the available options using the sample set ■P ositioning safety eyewear as an investment in long-term eye health Over time, these conversations become

A WIN FOR PATIENTS AND PRACTICES Ultimately, the value of safety eyewear lies in its ability to protect sight. For patients, it provides reassurance and reduces the risk of potentially life-changing injuries. For practices, it offers: ■ A way to deliver enhanced care ■ A clear point of differentiation ■ A sustainable revenue opportunity ■ Stronger relationships with both individuals and local businesses With the added support of a trusted partner and a high-quality product range, the barriers to entry are lower than ever. MOVING FORWARD The opportunity for safety eyewear within optical practice is significant – and growing. As standards evolve, patient expectations change, and awareness increases, practices that embrace this category will be wellpositioned to lead. Through our partnership with Univet, we are committed to helping practices unlock this potential. From providing an expertly curated range and a professional presentation solution to delivering training on the latest standards, we aim to make safety eyewear both simple and successful to implement. If your practice has yet to fully explore this category – or if you would like to ensure you are up-to-date with the latest standards – we would be delighted to support you. PRODUCT PROFILE

Avizor Ever Clean Plus

Raising the bar for contact lens hygiene A new generation of peroxide-based care systems is helping optometrists and ophthalmologists respond to rising concerns around lens-related eye infections, with Avizor’s Ever Clean Plus emerging as a benchmark for efficacy, comfort and ease of use…

F

or decades, contact lens disinfection has been treated as something of a formality – a box to tick between reading the prescription and dispensing the lenses. But over the past 10 years, that assumption has been quietly and repeatedly tested. Across the UK, cases of Acanthamoeba keratitis (AK), a rare but potentially sightthreatening corneal infection linked to contact lens wear, have risen sharply enough to prompt national research programmes and updated clinical guidance. Moorfields Eye Hospital, which treats more than a third of all UK cases, recorded an average of 50.3 cases a year between 2011 and 2016 – nearly triple the 18.5-case annual average of the years before1. A subsequent case-control study led by University College London found that wearers of reusable soft lenses faced almost four times the risk of infection compared with daily disposable wearers, and that showering or swimming in lenses, or sleeping in them overnight, each roughly quadrupled the odds2. The uncomfortable finding underneath that research is not only about patient behaviour. It is that most multipurpose disinfection solutions have proven poorly effective against the organism responsible for AK, and that lens solution failures have, historically, been directly implicated in outbreaks on both sides of the Atlantic.

26 Vision Now September 2026

For eyecare practitioners (ECPs) fitting or reviewing reusable soft lenses, silicone hydrogels, and rigid gas permeable lenses (RGPs) including orthokeratology (ortho-k) lenses – all of which depend on a disinfection step the patient carries out unsupervised, at home, night after night – the choice of care system is not a minor detail. It is one of the few points in the entire wearing cycle where an ECP’s recommendation still matters. It is against that backdrop that Avizor, the Spanish ophthalmic care specialist, is positioning Ever Clean Plus, a two-hour, preservative-free hydrogen peroxide system, as more than a routine reorder item. It is inviting UK eyecare practitioners and ophthalmologists to look again at what a modern peroxide regimen can do. FOUR ACTIONS, ONE TABLET Ever Clean Plus is built around a three per cent hydrogen peroxide solution and a bi-layer neutralising tablet, designed to deliver what Avizor describes as ‘four actions’ in a single two-hour cycle, without rubbing or rinsing: ■ Lipid cleaning ■ Protein cleaning ■D isinfection and moisturising The tablet's construction is where much of the system's engineering sits. Its white

layer contains a combination of enzymes formulated to break down the lipid deposits that build up on a lens surface during wear, a particular challenge for silicone hydrogel materials, which are more prone to lipid adhesion than conventional hydrogels precisely because of the surface chemistry that gives them their oxygen permeability. It also contains a proteolytic enzyme to break down protein deposits. The green layer combines: povidone, a lubricating agent; catalase, which controls the neutralisation of hydrogen peroxide once disinfection is complete; and chlorophyllin and riboflavin, natural colour indicators that let the wearer see, visually, that neutralisation has taken place before the lens is safe to insert. The result, in practice, is a single-step regimen; the lens goes into the peroxide solution with the tablet and is ready to wear two hours later, no separate cleaning step, and no rub-and-rinse routine for the patient to skip on a tired evening. The final solution is preservative-free. WHAT THE DATA SHOWS Avizor has backed the formulation with a run of in vitro and clinical studies that will be of direct interest to ECPs weighing up a switch. On lipid removal, an in vitro study carried out by Ocupharm Diagnostics Laboratory in Madrid3 measured the cleaning effectiveness of Ever Clean Plus in the removal of

Figure 1 Percentage of cholesterol removed by ECP from different contact lens materials (study carried out by Ocupharm Laboratory 2025)

PRODUCT PROFILE Ever Clean Plus is available in four pack formats to suit different patient needs and practice stocking preferences – 60ml with eight tablets, 225ml with 30 tablets, 350ml with 45 tablets, and a double pack of 2 x 350ml with 90 tablets.

cholesterol oleate on different contact lens materials. Figure 1 shows the percentage values of cholesterol adhered and cleaned according to the type of lens. Protein removal relies on the proteolytic enzyme in the tablet's active layer, addressing residual deposits that contribute to both reduced comfort and increased microbial adhesion over a lens's wear cycle. On disinfection, an independent study by Biolab Laboratory in Madrid4 tested Ever Clean Plus against the organisms named in the International Organisation for Standardisation's (ISO) own minimum efficacy criteria: Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Serratia marcescens, Candida albicans and Fusarium solani. Against a required minimum log reduction of 3.0 for bacteria and 1.0 for fungi, Ever Clean Plus achieved log reductions of 5.8, 5.7 and 5.9 for the three bacterial strains, and 2.6 and 5.1 for the two fungal strains – comfortably ahead of the regulatory floor in every case. As shown in Figure 2, the results of the study show that Ever Clean Plus substantially exceeds the ISO norm. The figures likely to draw closest attention from UK ECPs, however, concern Acanthamoeba specifically, given the clinical picture described above. Avizor's own data shows Ever Clean Plus achieving a 99.99 per cent kill rate against Acanthamoeba castellanii trophozoites, 98.22 per cent against the more resistant cyst form, and 99.90 per cent against Acanthamoeba polyphaga trophozoites, with 95.32 per cent against cysts . Cysts are the harder target by some distance. It is the dormant, resistant cyst stage that has undermined many multipurpose solutions in independent testing over the years, so the gap between trophozoite and cyst efficacy is worth ECPs’ attention as a benchmark when comparing systems, rather than a figure to read past. On comfort, the tablet's povidone content is intended to improve lens wettability over time. In Avizor's clinical study, tear film

surface quality was tracked over a month of use; the lens surface was found to remain measurably more moisturised for both silicone hydrogel and hydrogel wearers. WHY ‘PRESERVATIVE-FREE’ MATTERS Ever Clean Plus contains no preservatives – a detail that matters most for the subset of patients ECPs already flag for sensitivity: dry eye patients; occasional or intermittent wearers; and anyone who has previously reacted to a multipurpose solution's preservative system. Because the hydrogen peroxide is neutralised down to saline-equivalent levels before the lens is worn, the regimen avoids the ongoing low-level preservative exposure that some patients experience as irritation with daily multipurpose use, while still delivering a two-hour disinfection cycle. ONE SYSTEM ACROSS LENS TYPES Perhaps the most practically useful feature for a multi-modality practice is scope: Ever Clean Plus is formulated for all soft lens types, including silicone hydrogel, as well as RGP lenses, including (including ortho-k) and hybrid. For practices juggling ortho-k fits alongside conventional soft and silicone hydrogel wearers, that means a single recommended care system rather than separate regimens by modality. This is useful for both stock simplicity and for patient compliance, since a consistent, wellunderstood routine is generally an easier one for patients to stick to. HOW IT WORKS, STEP BY STEP The regimen itself is designed to be simple to explain chairside: the tablet is placed in the lens case, the lens is submerged in the peroxide solution for the disinfection stage, neutralisation completes automatically over the two-hour cycle (visible via the colour indicators), and the lens is then ready to wear – no manual rinsing or rubbing required at any stage.

WHAT THIS MEANS IN THE CONSULTING ROOM None of this is a suggestion that peroxide systems are a silver bullet, or that AK risk can be engineered away by product choice alone; the College of Optometrists' own clinical management guidance is clear that hand hygiene, avoiding water contact with lenses, and regular aftercare remain the primary defences, and that no disinfection system replaces them5. But the same guidance also treats disinfectant efficacy as a relevant factor for practitioners to weigh when advising reusable lens wearers, particularly given how directly disinfectant performance has featured in past UK outbreak investigations. For that conversation – the one that happens at collection, or at the annual aftercare check, when a patient is reaching for whichever solution is cheapest or most familiar on the shelf – having a system with published, independently generated efficacy data against both common pathogens and Acanthamoeba specifically gives practitioners something concrete to point to, rather than a general reassurance that ‘any peroxide system will do’. It also gives a single, consistent answer across modalities: the same recommendation holds whether the patient in the chair is a monthly silicone hydrogel wearer, an RGP patient, or a child in ortho-k. credo, showcasing their dedication to blending German Engineering precision with timeless, pure aesthetics. Drawing inspiration from the minimalism and functionality of the Bauhaus, the design and engineering team in Germany has meticulously developed premium eyewear that not only meets but exceeds industry standards. Thanks to the in-house data-driven product development approach, advanced technical features are created that combine innovation and outstanding wearing comfort. The frames, crafted with

uncompromising quality, are made to last. The designs complement and enhance the wearer's unique personality, all while delivering exceptional precision and functionality. “The goal is to reduce material without compromising stability,” explains the Rodenstock design team. This principle is reflected in every detail, from the selection of materials to the engineering of hinges and frame components. Japanese titanium and the in-house-developed high-performance polyamide RXP are central to this approach, offering exceptional strength and comfort while ensuring the frames remain incredibly light, as demonstrated by the innovative T-Lite collection. Weighing less than 4.8g, these frames provide an almost weightless experience while maintaining a sleek, modern elegance and a rimless look. EXPERIENCE LIGHTNESS CAMPAIGN Rodenstock Eyewear takes its ‘Experience Lightness’ campaign to the next level, a visual journey that celebrates lightness both as an aesthetic value and a way of life. concept embraces not only the lightness of the frames, enhanced by technical expertise and pure design, but also the everyday lightness that allows us to appreciate the beauty of simple things. The campaign is brought to life by internationally acclaimed fashion photographer, Andreas Ortner, known for his work with publications such as Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. Inspired by the purist Bauhaus approach, Ortner stages a captivating interplay of light and shadow – pure aesthetics that fascinate. The shots, taken in a minimalist studio setting, perfectly capture the essence of lightness. Thanks to warm, natural lighting, the images portray a sophisticated, weightless atmosphere – a visual journey that perfectly reflects the visionary character of the frames. The scene features two international male models, addressing both of Rodenstock’s target groups, accompanied by the iconic Wassily Chair, a timeless Bauhaus design, emphasising a breakthrough in lightweight design. NEXUS: THE ART OF CONNECTION The Nexus series is born from the desire to transcend the ordinary, challenging traditional design boundaries and rethinking what eyewear can represent. True to the name Nexus, the products represent the connection between objects and create new perspectives in design. By blending different geometric shapes and diverse materials, the collection unites cutting-edge technology with artistry. Engineered in Germany with meticulous attention to detail, Nexus stands out through a distinctive screwless hinge design. Thanks to the combination of titanium and RXP, the frames offer exceptional lightness, stability and comfort. Honored with the prestigious iF Design Award 2026, one of the most internationally recognised awards in the design world, Nexus stands out for its design quality, innovation, engineering excellence and brand consistency. This award highlights not only the aesthetic strength of the products but also their functionality, differentiation and market relevance. Among the collection's highlights is model R7196, which perfectly embodies this bold synthesis of form and function. The frame features a sophisticated matte and shiny

front design crafted from ultralightweight RXP, which integrates seamlessly with the high-grade titanium double bridge and delicate temples. The rubber temple tips ensure superior comfort and adaptability. This interplay of diverse textures and geometric shapes transforms the frame into a visionary character. For the wearer, Nexus is more than just a frame, it offers a unique balance between durability, lightweight comfort and avant-garde aesthetics. Alongside R7196, the men’s style R7191 is a true eyecatcher. Especially colour B, which portrays lightness in every detail, from its light weight to its stunning crystal colour combination.
