Healthcare Lighting Guidelines

• Use diffuse indirect sources to avoid glare

• Select lighting with 82 CRI and above

• Choose fixtures with cleanable surfaces

• Light pathway from bed to bathroom

• Use acrylic or cleanable fabric instead of glass for lenses and shades

• Include dimming controls, have multiple zones of light

• Use amber light at night to keep sleep disturbances to a minimum

Recommended IES FC Levels at Horizontal Targets

Controls

Reading: Controlled by the patient via pillow speaker or bed control

Ambient: Light should be dimmable, controlled at room entry and bed side

Exam: Control at headwall and optional switching at room entry

Nightlight: Locate between bed and bath for pathway lighting, use photocell

Switches: Use labels and a consistent location in each same sided room

Shades/HVAC/Media: Integrate with controls as needed

Tunable Lighting

Healthcare facilities have recognized the need for tunable lighting. This is the balance of artificial lighting mimicking the outdoors with the time of day. Using higher light levels with bluer/cooler temperatures in the morning to help stimulate patients, and warmer/dimmer lighting at night to keep sleep disturbances to a minimum, can help promote healing.

Remote Power Supplies for PSX Models

Emergency Lighting

• UL listed stand-alone simulated sine wave output inverter designed to provide power to designated emergency lighting fixtures

Cables

LVPC-DIM Low Voltage Controller (3 Load with Dimming)

The LVPC-DIM interface enables users to turn lights on or off or dim safely when used with low voltage, momentary contact switches, such as those found on patient pillow speakers, bed communication side rail devices, and nurse call auxiliary outputs.

Only a single switch is required for full control of each load, allowing use of existing patient controls and simple momentary wall switches. It can be used with fluorescent, LED and other lamp types. It controls up to 3 general-use and electronic ballast type loads, with dimming control of two loads (via 0-10V interface). LVPC-DIM Wiring Diagram

The LVPC-DIM may be mounted in a light fixture or other suitable enclosure and should be installed by a qualified electrician only. The installer must follow all applicable National Electrical Code requirements.

Eco Friendly Standard Powder Coat Finishes

With no solvents or hazardous materials, our powder coat painting process is more consistent, durable, and more environmentally friendly than conventional liquid paint. Choose from standard color options without worrying about safety and sustainability. Powder coating eliminates runs, drips and sags during the painting process, and protects against chips, abrasions, UV light, chemicals, and heat (up to 400° F).

We offer additional RAL colors and custom color matching for a slight premium charge.

Alternative Finishes

Alternative & Premium Metal Finishes

We offer alternative metal finishes on certain fixtures to attain a metal look without the cost and environmental damage of standard plated metals. Premium metal and acrylics are also available.

Premium Metal Finishes

Visa Lighting premium metal finishes are spun, polished, and finished in our Milwaukee facility. All finishes are grade level 1. Each product specification sheet shows which finishes are available.
