From the Editor As summer settles across the Northshore, this issue is all about milestones, momentum, and the people who make our community such a remarkable place to call home. First, we celebrate the Class of 2026. Graduation is more than a ceremony. It is the culmination of years of hard work, perseverance, growth, and countless moments that shaped who these young men and women have become. Whether they are heading off to college, entering the workforce, serving our country, or pursuing a dream close to home, they represent the future of our community. To our graduates, congratulations. The Northshore is proud of you, and we cannot wait to see where your journey leads. This issue also shines a spotlight on Men in Business, a feature that recognizes the leaders, entrepreneurs, and professionals who help drive our local economy forward. These men are builders, innovators, mentors, and problem solvers. They lead companies, create opportunities, support charitable causes, and invest in the communities where they live and work. Their stories remind us that success is not measured solely by achievements, but by the impact we make on the people around us. As I reflected on the theme of this issue, I realized that graduates and business leaders have more in common than one might think. Both stand at important crossroads. One is just beginning the journey, while the other continues to navigate it. Both require courage, resilience, adaptability, and a willingness to learn. Most importantly, both remind us that growth never truly ends. Summer has always felt like a season of possibility. It is a time to slow down just enough to appreciate how far we have come while looking ahead to what comes next. Whether you are celebrating a graduate, growing a business, enjoying time with family, or simply soaking up a Northshore sunset, I hope this issue inspires you to embrace the opportunities that lie ahead. Dr. Boudreaux earned her undergraduate degree from LSU, where she was an active member of Chi Omega, before pursuing her medical training entirely within the LSU system. Her journey included medical school in Shreveport, an internal medicine residency in New Orleans, and a gastroenterology fellowship at LSU New Orleans, where she also served as chief fellow. Founded by her father, Rick Adams, almost 50 years ago, Adams Aluminum began with a simple vision: creating outdoor spaces where families could spend more time together and truly enjoy their pools without the constant hassle of leaves, insects, and debris. While others prioritized speed, he immersed himself in engineering, structural integrity, and long-term product performance. Behind the scenes, Brooke’s mother played an equally important role. Together, the couple poured countless hours into the business, often sacrificing evenings, weekends, and family time to build something that would last. Their partnership laid the foundation for a company that continues to serve multiple generations of customers today. As Adams Aluminum’s reputation grew, so did its influence. In many ways, Rick helped shape the industry itself. Numerous professionals and companies throughout the Gulf South trace their roots back to his mentorship, training, or leadership. His willingness to share knowledge and invest in others helped raise the standard for aluminum construction throughout the region. Growing up around the business, Brooke witnessed those values firsthand. Employees felt like family, customers became lifelong relationships, and quality was never negotiable. Long before she officially joined the company, she was learning the lessons that would one day guide her leadership. Today, Adams Aluminum continues to design, fabricate, and install custom pool enclosures and outdoor structures backed by decades of expertise. While Brooke is embracing modern technology and operational improvements, the company’s foundation remains unchanged. “I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to carry on what my father started nearly five decades ago,” Brooke says. “While I know I have big shoes to fill, I hope to honor everything he has built and continue the legacy he worked so hard to create. I’m so thankful for my dad’s sacrifice, mentorship, and for trusting me with something that means so much to our family. I look up to my father more than words can express, and I am proud to continue the journey he began 47 years ago.” Nearly five decades after its founding, Adams Aluminum remains a testament to the enduring power of hard work, integrity, and a family’s commitment to building something that lasts.

As a business owner, Dr. Roy is passionate about using his pharmacy background to serve patients with complex conditions that require a high level of care. From managing medications with narrow therapeutic ranges to coordinating nursing and social support, his work goes beyond prescriptions. It is about helping patients navigate a challenging and often overwhelming healthcare experience with confidence and clarity. That same sense of purpose carries into how he leads. Naturally an operations-driven thinker, he once focused primarily on execution, but a shift in mindset around the

importance of sales changed the trajectory of his business. By embracing growth as a necessary part of service, while still prioritizing patient care and team satisfaction, he has built a model that allows both the business and its people to thrive. At the center of it all is his family. Being a husband and father has grounded him in a way nothing else could, offering daily perspective and a constant reminder of what truly matters. That perspective also fueled a personal commitment to his health, leading to a complete lifestyle transformation so he can be present for his wife and daughters for years to come. I am a classically trained, award-winning artist with extensive experience across multiple mediums and works held in public and private collections worldwide. I began my formal training at age 14 at the Art Graphic School Artes Gráficasin El Salvador under Mexican oil painter Black Carter De León and later studied privately with renowned artists Valero Lecha and Julia Díaz. In 2009, my work was accepted into the permanent art collection of the Louisiana Governor’s Mansion in Baton Rouge. Now at 83, my paintings can be seen in locations ranging from the Jefferson Parish Courthouse and historic Jackson Barracks to the National Guard Bureau in Arlington, Virginia, and Perth, Australia.

Today, one of his greatest points of pride is the continued success of St. Tammany Parish students. The district consistently ranks among Louisiana's highest-performing school systems, with students earning the state's highest average ACT composite score, exceeding the national average. This year alone, the district celebrated twelve National Merit Finalists, accomplishments Jabbia credits to dedicated students, talented educators, supportive families, and a community that values education. Looking ahead, Jabbia is excited about expanding opportunities for students beyond traditional college pathways. Through dual enrollment programs, students earned more than 18,000 college credits last year, while career and technical education programs helped students earn more than 5,400 industry-based certifications. FRANK J. JABBIA Frank J. Jabbia has spent a lifetime serving the students, families, and educators of St. Tammany Parish. A graduate of the public school system he now leads, Jabbia's journey from classroom teacher to Superintendent reflects a deep commitment to education and the community that helped shape him. Named Superintendent of the St. Tammany Parish Public School System in October 2020, Jabbia stepped into the role during one of the most challenging periods in modern education. Navigating the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic required steady leadership, clear communication, and an unwavering focus on students and employees. While the circumstances were unprecedented, the experience reinforced the leadership principles he had developed throughout his career as a teacher, coach, principal, and district leader. Growing up in a family of educators, Jabbia witnessed firsthand the impact teachers have on young lives. That example inspired him to pursue a career in education and instilled a lasting appreciation for the role public schools play in strengthening communities. 32

Jabbia remains energized by time spent in schools. Whether sharing a high five in the hallway, visiting classrooms, or celebrating student achievements, those moments serve as a reminder of the district's purpose. or Andrew Burns, community banking has never been just a career. It has been a lifelong journey. From starting as a part-time teller at just 18 years old to leading American Bank as President and CEO today, Burns has experienced community banking from nearly every angle.

“Those lessons stay with me,” Burns said. “The foundation of our bank remains the same: serving our customers and communities well.” That philosophy continues to guide American Bank more than sixty years after its founding. “I can empathize firsthand with small businesses and the hardships they face because I've been there,” Burns said. “That understanding helps us better serve our customers and our community.” That perspective has helped shape one of American Bank's greatest strengths: its SBA lending program. he Northlake-Mandeville Rotary Club continues to make a lasting investment in the future of St. Tammany Parish students through its annual Sunday with Scholars scholarship program, an initiative that provides not only financial assistance, but also mentorship, encouragement, and long term support throughout each recipient’s college journey.

This year, the club awarded four $12,000 scholarships along with three additional $1,000 memorial scholarships to outstanding local high school seniors during the Sunday with Scholars banquet held at Beau Chêne Country Club in Mandeville. The evening celebrated academic achievement, leadership, and the bright futures ahead for these deserving students. The 2026 $12,000 scholarship recipients included Aubree Arthur of Mandeville High School, who plans to study architectural studies at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette as the Wilson and Jean Sexton Rotary Scholar; Mia Adams of Mandeville High School, who will pursue mass communications and advertising; Elizabeth Tissue of Fontainebleau High School, who plans to study biomedical engineering at Mississippi State University; and Annie Kate Simms of Mandeville High School, who will pursue business management at Mississippi State University. The club also awarded three memorial scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each. Recipients included Alyssa Barr of Lakeshore High School, who plans to study biology and

pre-medicine at Tulane University as the Anthony and Hope Martin Memorial Scholar; Ellie Pennison of Hannan High School, who will pursue architecture at LSU as the Rudy Viener Memorial Scholar; and Jack Griffith of Mandeville High School, who plans to study chemical engineering at Rice University as the Grant Candies Memorial Scholar. According to Rotarian Doug Place, what truly sets the program apart is the ongoing relationship between the club and its scholarship recipients. Students are invited back to the annual banquet each year to share updates on their academic progress, personal growth, and accomplishments, creating a meaningful connection that extends far beyond graduation day. The Northlake-Mandeville Rotary Club’s commitment to supporting education reflects the organization’s broader mission of service above self. or recently retired educator Eddie Strohmeyer, life has always been centered around people. After more than 31 years in education, including the last 11 as a principal, the moments that mean the most to him are not awards or accomplishments, but the relationships built along the way. Watching students grow from unsure fourth graders into confident young adults and seeing former students return years later to share their successes are memories he will always carry with him.

Family has always been the driving force behind the way Eddie showed up both at home and at school. As a father of three, he says parenthood taught him patience, compassion, and understanding. Raising children showed him that every child learns differently 54

SOCIAL NORTHSHORE

and needs different kinds of support, something that shaped the way he led and cared for students throughout his career. “I’ve always tried to teach my children and students to treat people with kindness and respect,” he says. “Talent and success matter, but character matters more.” This season of life has brought major transitions for Eddie and his family. While preparing for retirement from a career that has been such a large part of his identity, he was also celebrating another emotional milestone as his youngest daughter graduated from high school and prepared to leave for college. Saying goodbye to his final class of sixth graders was especially meaningful, knowing they would be the last students of his career. Still, amid the mixed

emotions, he is embracing this next chapter with gratitude and excitement for slower days and more quality time with the people he loves most. When asked what being a “Superdad” means to him today, Eddie’s answer is simple. It means continuing to be dependable, supportive, and present no matter how old his children become. Looking back, some of his favorite memories are the small, everyday moments, especially the one on one car rides with his children where the radio would be turned down and conversations would naturally unfold. Those simple moments, he says, often meant the most. Now entering retirement, Eddie looks forward to spending more time with family, doing a little traveling, maybe a little fishing, and simply enjoying life at a slower pace. After decades spent pouring into students, teachers, and his own children, his greatest legacy is not only the lives he impacted in education, but the love, compassion, and strong values he and his wife instilled in their family.

y t l u ure c a f at fe Who or what inspired your decision to become a guidance counselor, and how did that path first begin for you? My path to becoming a counselor really began with my love for school environments. They have always felt like places where growth, support, and possibility come together. That feeling became more real during my first professional role at Head Start, where I saw firsthand how much of a difference encouragement and guidance can make in a child’s life. Working with those students and their families showed me how important it is to have someone in your corner, especially early on. That experience inspired me to pursue a master’s degree in counseling so I could continue supporting students not just academically, but emotionally and personally as well. What is one of the biggest challenges students are facing today, and how do you help guide them through it? One of the biggest challenges I see is the pressure students feel academically, socially, and even from themselves. Many students are overwhelmed trying to meet expectations while also navigating uncertainty about their future. I help by creating space for honest conversations, breaking big concerns into manageable steps, and reminding them that it is okay not to have everything figured out right away. Social media and technology have increased this pressure exponentially, especially for students who are constantly comparing themselves to others or feeling the need to keep up. It is no longer just what happens in the classroom. Pressures follow them home and exist around the clock on their screens. Students need a safe, supportive space now more than ever. What do you find most rewarding about serving as a guidance counselor? The most rewarding part is watching students grow, especially when they begin to believe in themselves. Seeing a student go from feeling unsure or discouraged to confident and motivated is incredibly meaningful. Even small breakthroughs, like a student opening up for the first time or taking a positive step forward, make a big

impact. I love watching my students grow from toddlers to elementary, middle, and high school students and witnessing their milestones and achievements throughout life. Recently, a former parent asked me to help compose a heartfelt wedding toast to celebrate their child’s big day. I had watched that child grow from a kindergarten student into a beautiful young woman, and being trusted with something so meaningful was incredibly special. How do you create a safe, encouraging environment where students feel seen, heard, and supported? It starts with listening, truly listening, without judgment. I try to meet students where they are, respect their experiences, and make sure they know their voice matters. Consistency, empathy, and trust are key. When students feel that they will not be dismissed or criticized, they are much more willing to open up and engage. In what ways do you help students build confidence, resilience, and direction for their future? I focus on helping students recognize their strengths and build on them. We set realistic goals together, celebrate progress, and learn from setbacks rather than fearing them. I also encourage problem solving and self reflection so they can develop the skills to navigate challenges independently over time. If you could leave every student with one lasting message, what would it be? “Always be kind. You never know what battles someone is facing.” This is something I say often because most of what people carry is not visible. Someone can look completely fine on the outside while dealing with grief, anxiety, financial stress, or struggles they are not ready to share. A small act of kindness, a patient tone, a thoughtful word, even just a smile, can ease that weight more than you realize. It does not fix everything, but it can make a hard day feel a little less heavy.

For Michelle Norwood and Lalube Forman, theirs was the latter. After 22 years of dating on and off, theirs is a story that proves timing doesn’t have to be perfect, it just has to be right.

y the time they found themselves building a home together on the lake, their foundation had already been laid long before the first beam went up. Michelle documented the process through her “Lake House Diaries,” capturing what it looks like to build something meaningful from the ground up. What she didn’t expect was that the home would become the setting for the next chapter of their story. On a Saturday afternoon, April 1st, the two walked through their construction site, checking on progress like they had done so many times before. There was no setup, no grand gesture waiting around the corner. Just a quiet moment between them. Lalube looked at Michelle and said, almost casually, “Maybe it’s time you changed your last name.” Then, just as simply, “Life is simply better when we are together.” There was no ring in that moment, only a man who was completely sure. And somehow, that made it even more meaningful.

They were married on Friday, December 12, 2026, just three weeks after moving into the home they built together. Their ceremony and reception took place there, on the lake, in a space that already held their story. It was intimate, personal, and entirely their own. A place no one else will ever replicate, no matter how many times people ask Michelle where the venue is. She wore a simple silk gown by Alexandrea Grecco, something she had always envisioned. The palette of ivory and soft greens blended seamlessly with the natural surroundings, allowing the setting, and the story, to speak for itself. Throughout the day, there were quiet reminders of the people who shaped her life. Michelle honored her late mother by wearing her red ruby earrings and her favorite Cartier fragrance, carrying her presence in a way that felt both personal and powerful. And in a moment she hadn’t originally planned, her son walked her down the aisle. With both her parents and brother no longer here, it became one of the most meaningful parts of the day, a reflection of love continuing forward. There were also moments that felt light and unexpected. Lalube, known for his steady and disciplined nature, surprised everyone by having his first sip of champagne and smoking a cigar with the gentlemen. For someone who had never done either, it felt like his own quiet way of marking the occasion. Instead of leaving for a honeymoon, the two stayed exactly where their story continues, in the lake house they built together. Because for Michelle and Lalube, the destination was never somewhere else. It was always each other.
