LETTER FROM THE PUBLISHER

As we put together the pieces of the puzzle for this Holiday Issue of VIP 30A Magazine, I am amazed at the number of fall events we have attended over the last couple of months. While summer is thought of as our busy season, for locals its actually spring and fall that bring about some of the most anticipated events of the year. From wine and food festivals to golf tournaments and galas, 30A and Walton County are buzzing with activity this time of the year. And not to mention the weather. As we recently spent a week in Tennessee, I was quickly reminded of one of the many reasons we call Santa Rosa Beach home now, the mild temps. I will probably repeat myself but October and November along the Emerald Coast are truly amazing as most every weekend brings bluebird days and mild nights, hence the perfect event season.

And now as we enter the holidays, we begin to shi our attentions to time spent with family and friends. Whether its traveling to our home towns, our even better our loved ones coming to visit, it’s a time for us all to relish in the moment and re ect on the memories this year has brought. For me personally, the most treasured day of the 2025 was with my wife Maggie, as we said our vows over the waters we love and cherish. It was a beautiful day on a beautiful boat, with an unforgettable sunset and a beautiful bride that I will treasure forever!

As the new year quickly approaches, I hope you all have a blessed anksgiving, a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

SECONDANNUAL GATSBY GALA

Down syndrome is a genetic condition where a baby is born with an extra or full copy of chromosome 21. According to the Centers for Disease Control, about 5,700 babies are born in the United States every year with Down syndrome. With the advances in medical care, education, and social acceptance, individuals with Down syndrome are living longer, more fulfilling lives. As a parent of a child with Down syndrome, Michael Carey had a dream that his son could lead an independent life in an environment where there is purpose, dignity, and independence. As a result of this dream Harlan’s Place Foundation was born and on October 4, presenting sponsor Stock and Trade Design Company hosted the Second Annual Gatsby Gala. With immersive decor, the event featured three levels of entertainment, a sensory room, a VIP area, and casino-style gaming. “Tonight, we proudly host the Second Annual Gatsby Gala in support of Harlan’s Place Foundation,” said Michael Carey, Founder. “Over the past year, we’ve made significant progress on permitting and are moving closer to breaking ground on this one-of-a-kind residential resort-style community for young adults with special needs. We are deeply grateful for the generosity of those who have contributed time, talent, and resources to advance our mission. Harlan’s Place will provide not only a safe and supportive home, but also meaningful opportunities for integration into the community through job placement, volunteerism, and recreational activities.” As one of the area’s top fundraising galas, hundreds of people dressed up in Roaring ‘20s-style attire to enjoy an evening of music and fun. Offering food and drinks on every level and a variety of silent auction items including golf packages and original art, people had a special night on the town while supporting a worthwhile cause. “With such strong community support, the future of Harlan’s Place is bright, and tonight’s gala is a powerful step toward making it a reality,” said Michael Carey. he South Walton High School Touchdown Club brought the community together in August for its annual Casino Night fundraiser—an energetic evening of gaming, raffles, and Seahawk spirit. Held at Distillery 98, the event drew parents, alumni, and local supporters eager to help fuel the football program ahead of the fall season.

Guests enjoyed blackjack, roulette, and poker tables using “fun chips,” which were later exchanged for raffle entries. Silent-auction items—including restaurant packages, golf outings, and signed Seahawks memorabilia—kept the bidding lively and the atmosphere festive. Proceeds from the evening directly support Seahawk football, funding equipment upgrades, travel costs, and playerdevelopment needs. Coaches and organizers emphasized that community giving plays a crucial role in keeping the program competitive and well-resourced.

The Harbor Rats began with a group of local businessmen who meet at Harbor Cigars for fellowship. In 2018, this group of men discovered golf could be a powerful tool for bonding and building relationships. This led to the birth of the Annual Charity Golf Tournament held at the Raven Golf Club in Sandestin, providing an opportunity to give back to the community.

The success of this popular event provided a donation in 2024 of $35,000 to the Sandestin Foundation for Kids and $20,000 to Alaqua Animal Refuge. As the tournament continues to grow, so do their goals made possible by the dedicated support of the many players who love the camaraderie and competition while supporting a for a worthy cause!

This premier event presented an elite, highly curated collection of rare and high-performance automobiles dedicated to celebrating automotive culture and architecture..

The event transformed the serene pedestrian promenades of Alys Beach into an open-air showroom featuring an impressive lineup ranging from vintage classics to modern supercars. Attendees wandered through the beautiful courtyards as Porsche Turbos, Land Rover Defenders, meticulously restored Mustangs, and dazzling exotics—Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and McLarens—sparkled in the Florida sun. Owners chatted with guests about custom builds, restoration stories, and performance details… giving the event its intimate feel as the Cars of 30A celebrated design, craftsmanship, and the lifestyle of the Emerald Coast.

The Sassy Sisters of Santa Rosa Beach turned comfort into compassion at their recent Pillows, Pajamas & Prosecco fundraiser, held at The Vue at the Santa Rosa Beach Club. Guests arrived for the kick-off event of the season in stylish pajamas and loungewear and enjoyed light bites and lively conversation. This event and the generosity of those attending helped to support A Bed for Me, a nonprofit organization that provides beds and bedding to local children in need.

Attendees bid on curated auction items and contributed throughout the event, helping the Sassy Sisters surpass their fundraising goal. This participation helped to raise enough money to provide multiple beds, linens, and comfort items for families across Walton County. Blending fun with philanthropy, the Sassy Sisters again proved that a little sparkle, sisterhood, and generosity can make a big community impact.

Celebr es New Chapter in Santa Rosa Beach

Furniture South marked an exciting new beginning last month with a festive grand opening and ribbon-cutting hosted by the Walton Area Chamber of Commerce. Held on October 8 at the store’s showroom on U.S. Highway 98 in Santa Rosa Beach, the event drew local business leaders, design professionals, and loyal customers eager to see the refreshed space and meet the new owners Amy Bonds and Wes Wilson and their wonderful team.

Guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and drinks before the official ribbon-cutting at 4 p.m., symbolizing Furniture South’s renewed commitment to serving South Walton’s growing home-interior and design market. The store continues to offer a broad range of coastal-inspired furnishings along with full-service interior design, flooring, and lighting options. With its “new ownership, same great service” message, Furniture South looks forward to serving the 30A design scene with fresh energy and a focus on personalized home styling for locals, second-home owners, and vacation-rental clients alike.

30Avenue Oktoberfest

Where Bavaria meets the beach, locals and visitors gathered at 30Avenue in Inlet Beach for an unforgettable afternoon of brats, beer, and Gulf Coast breezes. The 30Avenue Oktoberfest brought a playful coastal twist to the traditional German celebration, filling the lawn with laughter, live music, and lederhosen-clad fun. From 4 to 7 p.m., guests enjoyed a lively mix of Bavarian tunes, yodeloffs, and best-dressed contests while savoring pretzels, sausages, and local craft brews. Families spread out picnic blankets and chairs beneath the palms, soaking in the sunset and festive atmosphere.

The event’s casual, open format invited everyone to join—no tickets required, just a good sense of cheer and a willingness to say “prost!” under the Florida sky. The combination of German tradition and laid-back coastal charm made 30Avenue’s Oktoberfest a standout celebration along Scenic Highway 30A.

VIP Topsail Hill Preserve State Park

On an October evening in Santa Rosa Beach, Topsail Hill Preserve State Park came alive with the flavors and sounds of the Third Annual Tapas & Tunes, a fundraiser hosted by the Friends of Topsail Hill Preserve State Park. Guests gathered beneath the pines on October 3, 2025, to enjoy an outdoor evening of small-plate tastings, live music, and community spirit—all for a good cause.

Local restaurants competed for People’s Choice and Judges’ Top 3 Tapas honors, offering creative Gulf-inspired bites that had guests sampling and voting throughout the night. The laid-back tunes of The Southsiders filled the air while guests mingled, sipped wine and beer and wandered between tasting stations lit by string lights and sunset hues.

A lively silent auction added to the fun, featuring items from local artists and businesses. Proceeds from the evening benefit park projects focused on education and conservation, including new interpretive displays about the area’s dune lakes, wildlife, and native plants.

More than just a night of food and music, Tapas & Tunes continues to celebrate what makes South Walton special— great local flavor, friendly faces, and a shared commitment to preserving one of the Gulf Coast’s most beautiful parks.

3-Day Event 3-Day Event

iramar Beach played host to one of the Emerald Coast’s most talked-about lifestyle gatherings this fall as LadyWorld, the three-day beach-retreat created by the LadyGang podcast trio and presented by e.l.f. Cosmetics, took over Seascape Resort. Held September26–28, the event blended wellness, nostalgia, and creator-driven entertainment into a high-energy, sun-soaked weekend that drew attendees from across the country. LadyWorld transformed the shoreline into an immersive playground where guests woke up to beachfront yoga, Pilates sessions, and sound baths before drifting into an afternoon of creator panels, podcast tapings, mahjong matches, and gifting-suite fun. Resort guests enjoyed the ease of walking from their condos straight onto the sand, where everything from games to guacamole delivery was just steps away.

Saturday Night’s Pop-Cu ure rowback

Saturday night at LadyWorld brought the ultimate nostalgia wave. After pre-show festivities and and appearances by E! NEWS co-host Keltie Knight and podcast personalities, the main stage lit up with a lineup of early-2000s icons. Mark McGrath (of Sugar Ray) and Chris Kirkpatrick (of *NSYNC) shared the spotlight alongside beloved boy-band favorites like O-Town, LFO, and BBMak, creating a high-energy, sing-along throwback concert that had beachgoers dancing under the stars.

Impact

For the Emerald Coast, the event delivered national attention and reinforced the area’s rising status as a home for boutique festivals, influencer-driven activations, and women-centered lifestyle experiences. LadyWorld not only brought fans of the LadyGang podcast to Florida’s shores—it gave them a weekend that felt equal parts beach vacation, wellness retreat, and nostalgia-soaked girls’ getaway.

BloodyFestivalMary

Many well-known community sponsors, The Market Shops at Sandestin, and the community supported the Bloody Mary Festival that celebrated its 10th anniversary this year. Annually, it bene ts Habitat for Humanity of Walton County.

On a beautiful day, the community showed up in large numbers to stroll throughout the open-air Market Shops to listen to live entertainment and visit various participating restaurants and vendors to sample an amazing array of Bloody Mary’s, other libations, and appetizers. There was a team of eleven judges sampling seventeen Bloody Mary entries throughout the event. The judges awarded the top Judge’s Bloody Mary Choice to The Perfect Pig who have locations in Gulf Place, Watercolor and Seagrove Beach. Also, attendees got to vote for their personal favorite. The People’s Bloody Mary Choice this year went to DeFuniak Spring’s Café Nola, owned by well-known Chef Ernie Dejean.

“We are so appreciative of how strongly the Bloody Mary Festival and the community support our mission,” said Habitat Walton’s CEO, Teresa Jones. “In addition to our Habitat Restore that sells new and used household items at bargain prices, we have built 75 houses year-to-date that have enabled home ownership to those quali ed to be a part of our program.”

The Gulf Coast’s elite gathered once again this June for the 23rd Annual Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic (ECBC), hosted at Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort’s Baytowne Marina. From June 18–22, the docks buzzed with anticipation as 78 boats and nearly 500 anglers competed in one of the most prestigious blue-water tournaments with $1.85 million in prize money at stake. More than just a tournament, the ECBC is a social highlight of the Emerald Coast. Families, sponsors, and spectators line Baytowne Marina to cheer the boats home, and the weigh-ins have become evening events in their own right.

The ECBC’s modified release format continues to define the tournament’s unique character. Blue marlin must measure at least 110 inches to be weighed, with anything smaller earning release points instead. Alongside billfish, anglers chase trophy dolphin, tuna, and wahoo. Multiple divisions and jackpots mean there are plenty of ways for boats to share in the purse. Awards for Top Angler, Top Lady Angler, and Top Junior Angler add extra dimensions to the competition, celebrating skill across generations.

Tournament Highlights:

The Gulf delivered big this year, producing 91 billfish overall along with 25 tuna and 14 wahoo. All-In Southern Charm clinched the top prize with a 654.6-pound marlin, narrowly edging Devotion’s 640.4-pounder. A Work of Art rounded out the top three with a 604.4-pound catch. Meanwhile, in the release division, Team Supreme set the standard, scoring 2,175 points after releasing four blue marlin and a sailfish.

Gamefish competition brought its own drama, highlighted by Knot Done Yet’s monster 181.4-pound yellowfin tuna, the heaviest of the tournament. Mae took top dolphin honors with a 50.5-pounder, while Squid Row claimed wahoo with a 54.9-pound fish.

DESTIN CHARITY WINE AUCTION FOUNDATION

DONATES $3 MILLION TO 16 LOCAL CHILDREN’S CHARITIES

Premier fundraising organization, Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation (DCWAF), is pleased to announce it has donated $3 million to 16 children’s charities in Northwest Florida following another successful year of fundraising. Funding was awarded in a private check presentation ceremony at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort and Spa on September 18. To date, DCWAF has donated more than $38 million to help children in need in Northwest Florida since its inception in 2005.

he Santa Rosa Golf & Beach Club hosted the annual Live2Give Charity Golf Tournament this past September, bringing together golfers, community supporters, and local businesses for an afternoon of friendly competition and heartfelt purpose. Presented in partnership with Christie’s International Real Estate Emerald Coast, the event benefitted the Children’s Brain Tumor Foundation, a national nonprofit supporting children and families affected by brain and spinal cord tumors.

Teams teed off at a noon shotgun start under clear Gulf-Coast skies, playing a relaxed scramble format across the club’s picturesque 30A fairways. Following the round, players gathered for a lively awards ceremony featuring a silent auction, prize packages, and recognition of top-performing teams.

With its blend of philanthropy, sport, and coastal hospitality, the Live2Give tournament has quickly become a signature fall tradition on 30A—showcasing how the local community continues to rally behind meaningful causes while enjoying one of the region’s premier golf venues.

An Elevated New Spot for Game Day on 30A

Scout Sports Tavern celebrated its grand opening in late August, bringing a stylish, elevated sports-bar experience to Watersound Origins.

Created by local restaurateurs Jeremy and Angela Walton, the new tavern blends classic game-day energy with polished design and chef-driven food.

The interior features warm wood, vintage sports décor, leather seating, and a gallery of retro Sports Illustrated covers. Guests can choose from multiple spaces, including a lively bar, full dining room, retro-inspired game area, and a relaxed outdoor courtyard with bocce ball and grill stations.

Opening night drew a strong local crowd as visitors enjoyed creative cocktails, a curated whiskey list, and elevated American favorites—from shareable appetizers to prime steaks, fresh seafood, and standout burgers. A celebratory toast from the Walton family capped the evening and welcomed the community to Watersound’s newest gathering spot. With its mix of atmosphere, culinary quality, and social spaces, Scout Sports Tavern is set to become a go-to destination for game days, casual dinners, and nights out along the 30A corridor.
