“September days have the warmth of summer in their briefer hours, but in their lengthening evenings a prophetic breath of autumn.”

“When you can actually see the difference you’re making in someone’s life, it changes you.”

Before Lindsey Sanson discovered her passion for marketing and community leadership, she learned what compassion looked like firsthand.
Growing up in Bowling Green, Lindsey watched her parents quietly serve others, teaching her that even the smallest acts of kindness could make a lasting difference. She remembers her mother keeping “blessing bags” in the backseat of the family car, each filled with simple necessities like peanut butter crackers, tissues and toiletries. Whenever she saw someone in need, she would pull over, offer a bag and continue on her way.
“My parents just set the perfect example for me,” Lindsey says. “They still do.”
Those early lessons stayed with her. While she initially envisioned becoming a teacher, everything changed after taking a sports marketing class at Western Kentucky University.
“I absolutely loved it,” she says.
The class introduced her to a career that blended creativity, communication and connection. Although banking wasn’t part of her original plan, Lindsey soon discovered that community banking was the perfect fit. At American Bank & Trust, she found a role centered on building relationships, supporting local businesses and investing in the community she has always called home.
“I feel like my role is really unique because I can engage our community. I can engage our employees with our community,” she says. “It’s the best of both worlds.”
Whether she’s representing American Bank & Trust at a ribbon cutting or connecting people throughout the community, Lindsey believes the strongest areas are built one relationship at a time.

“It’s not transactional,” she says. “It’s so much deeper than that.”
That service extends beyond the workplace. Through United Way of Southern Kentucky, Lindsey has seen firsthand how local nonprofits change lives.
“When you can actually see the difference you’re making in someone’s life, it changes you,” she says. “You’re never the same.”
For Lindsey, community involvement begins with finding a need and taking the first step.
“There’s something for everybody to be involved in,” she says. “Just start with one thing.”
Having spent her entire life in Bowling Green, Lindsey has watched the city evolve while holding onto the qualities she has always loved most about it. New businesses, neighborhoods and opportunities have transformed the area, yet Bowling Green has never lost its sense of identity.
“I feel like we’ve grown in a very intentional way,” she says.
She credits much of that growth to Bowling Green’s collaborative spirit and Western Kentucky University, which continues to inspire people to build their lives here.
“I love it when people come here to go to school and then end up staying,” she says. “They want to build their life here.”
One conversation, however, gave Lindsey an entirely new appreciation for the hometown she had never left. After meeting neighbors who had relocated from Phoenix, Arizona, she finally asked the question she’d been wondering ever since they moved in.
“If you could have lived anywhere, why Bowling Green?”
Their answer surprised her.
“They said, ‘It’s the most beautiful place we’ve ever visited.’”
“It almost brought me to tears,” she says. “It made me so proud that someone else could see what I’ve always loved about this place.”
To Lindsey, Bowling Green’s greatest strength isn’t its growth or its location because its true strength is the people. Whether it’s local businesses cheering one another on, nonprofit organizations working together or neighbors stepping in to help, she believes the city’s collaborative spirit is what truly sets it apart.
“You just don’t see that everywhere,” she says.
That belief has shaped Lindsey’s leadership philosophy.
“I definitely lead with my heart.”
She believes leadership begins with listening and hopes people leave every interaction feeling seen and valued.
“I try to be somebody that anyone can come to,” she says. “Sometimes just sitting and listening to someone means so much.”
It’s a philosophy that dates right back to the blessing bags in the backseat of her parents’ car. Since then, that same care has moved through classrooms at Western Kentucky University, community organizations, American Bank & Trust and countless conversations with the people who make Bowling Green what it is today.
Lindsey Sanson has spent a lifetime investing in Bowling Green by investing in its people, and through it all, she continues to lead with her heart.

On June 8, the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Golf Classic at Bowling Green Country Club. Presented by Stock Yards Bank, the sold-out event brought together local business leaders, Chamber members and community partners for one of the organization’s signature annual gatherings.
While weather conditions kept participants off the course, they did not dampen the enthusiasm surrounding the event. Sponsors, golfers, volunteers and Chamber supporters gathered to strengthen relationships, build new connections and celebrate the partnerships that help support economic growth throughout the region.
The annual Golf Classic remains a favorite Chamber tradition, highlighting the strong partnerships and community spirit that continue to drive the Bowling Green area forward.

Community leaders, elected officials and Chamber members gathered to celebrate the announcement and mark the beginning of Page’s tenure as he prepares to lead the Chamber’s continued efforts in economic development, workforce initiatives, business growth and community advancement across South Central Kentucky.
Page brings more than 25 years of professional experience to the role, including previous service as President and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama and leadership of regional economic and workforce development initiatives. He will officially assume the position on July 20.
The event highlighted the Chamber’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the business community and supporting the long-term prosperity of Bowling Green, Warren County and the surrounding region.

Long before the home became a reflection of the Cunninghams’ travels, treasured collections and personal style, it had already become one of Bowling Green’s most recognizable Tudor residences. Rather than rewriting its story, Robann and Donny Cunningham chose to add a new chapter, honoring the home’s architectural legacy while thoughtfully layering it with influences gathered from around the world.
Designed in the 1930s by architect James Maurice Ingram, the charming Covington Street residence reflects the distinctive Tudor Revival style that helped define many American neighborhoods during the early twentieth century. Ingram, who was born in Paducah and attended Notre Dame, left a lasting mark on Bowling Green through both his residential and institutional work.
As the Cunninghams began researching the home’s history, they quickly realized they weren’t simply purchasing a beautiful house. They were becoming caretakers of a piece of Bowling Green’s architectural story.
“We really wanted to honor his legacy and the rich history of the home,” Robann says. “We wanted to stay true to the bones of the home and what we thought the original designers and architects would have envisioned for it at this point in its life.”
That philosophy became the foundation for every decision that followed. Rather than opening walls or dramatically altering the home’s character, the Cunninghams embraced its original architecture, allowing the home’s craftsmanship, rich millwork and defining Tudor details to remain the focal point.
While the home was already structurally beautiful, its existing aesthetic was highly traditional.
“The home was already beautiful,” Lisa Marshall, co-owner of interior design firm Embellish, recalls. “Everything was black and white, which gave us a beautiful canvas to creatively layer color, pattern and personality.”
The real transformation would not come from gutting the historic layout, but through a thoughtful layering of furnishings, art and styling.
While the home’s history established the foundation, its personality was shaped far beyond Bowling Green. A lifelong appreciation for travel, art and design had deeply influenced

Robann’s perspective, but she didn’t necessarily start the project with a fully formed master plan.
Shortly after the initial walkthrough, Robann traveled to London for a milestone birthday. While staying at the Soho Hotel, acclaimed British designer Kit Kemp’s fearless use of color, layered patterns and collected interiors left a lasting impression. As inspiration struck, Robann’s phone quickly filled with messages to Lisa Marshall and Natalie Hughes, her designers at Embellish, with each message capturing another wallpaper, another room or another unexpected combination of colors and patterns.
“She just started sending us all these incredible images,” Lisa recalls. “It was so adventurous and inspiring. We immediately started embracing the mix of pattern, color and texture.”
When Robann returned from London with a clearer vision, the Embellish team immediately recognized the opportunity to push beyond the home’s original black-and-white palette.
“Once we recognized what her vision was, we got really excited,” Lisa says. “She loves art. She loves color. She loves pattern. We just started running with it.”
The experience introduced the Cunninghams to what Robann describes as British maximalism, an aesthetic that embraces vibrant wallpapers, richly layered textiles, meaningful artwork and thoughtfully curated collections.
“It’s one of those projects that doesn’t really fit into any traditional design category,” Natalie says.
Instead of adhering to one aesthetic, the home layers Tudor architecture with British maximalism, European influences, Japanese intentionality and collected treasures from around the world. It is a design direction that feels layered and livedin rather than strictly categorized.
Robann spent three years teaching English in Japan during her twenties, cultivating an appreciation for the authenticity and purposefulness found in Japanese design. Years later, family travels through Africa, Europe and Asia inspired antique rugs, handcrafted pottery and collected treasures that now live comfortably alongside English-inspired wallpapers, contemporary furnishings and original artwork.
“I like what I like,” Robann says with a laugh. “I’m not a serious collector. I just choose pieces that mean something

to me.”
Some of the home’s most meaningful artwork wasn’t purchased at all. During a family trip to Paris, Robann, Donny and their children participated in a painting class led by a local artist inside her atelier. The abstract pastel works they created together now hang throughout the home, thoughtfully framed and incorporated into the design.
“I feel like it’s serendipity that we did that art before we even had this house,” Robann says. “Now it fits so beautifully.”
Other pieces tell equally personal stories. An antique green Moroccan bowl anchors the dining room table. Oil paintings discovered during a family celebration in Franklin, Tennessee, found their way into the sunroom, while treasured keepsakes collected over decades of travel are layered throughout the space. Together, they create an environment that feels collected over time.
Bringing those stories together required a deep creative partnership. Having previously partnered with Robann and her sister on the design of their women’s boutique, Sorella, Lisa and Natalie were a natural choice to translate this personal journey into the family’s home.
The collaboration became a true meeting of minds, built on mutual trust and creative freedom.
“They were the perfect mix of flexible and decisive,” Robann says of the design duo. “They entertained all of my crazy ideas, but they also knew when to say, ‘This works because of the color story,’ or ‘This doesn’t fit the vision.’ They knew when to run with an idea and when to rein it in.”
Lisa and Natalie found the process equally rewarding.
“When we find a client who gives us a little free rein and loves color, that’s something that excites us,” Lisa says.
Natalie agrees, noting the strength of a true creative partnership. “We love working collaboratively with our clients. When they trust us enough to give us a little more freedom, that’s when the best work comes out.”
This collaborative philosophy reveals itself in nearly every corner of the home. Throughout the project, the designers focused on details many visitors might never consciously notice but would undoubtedly feel.
“There are just a lot of details we really tried to take into

consideration,” Natalie says.
In one son’s bedroom, insect-inspired drawer pulls pair with nature-themed artwork, while a shared bedroom designed for the couple’s younger children incorporates artwork celebrating both a boy and a girl. Antique Chinese chairs anchor the dining room, while a painting by an Aboriginal artist in Australia adds color and depth to the sunroom.
Color serves as another connecting thread. Shades of blue, Robann’s favorite color, appear throughout the interiors in varying tones, creating continuity while allowing each room to maintain its own distinct personality. Bold wallpapers, richly patterned textiles and collected artwork create moments of surprise around every corner, yet the home never feels overwhelming.
Together, Robann and the Embellish team envisioned a home that felt warm, welcoming and expressive. It is a place equally suited for quiet family moments, social gatherings or hosting events that celebrate fashion, creativity and community.
That same sense of thoughtful curation extends well beyond the walls of the home. Before purchasing the Covington Street residence, Robann and her sister, Rebecca, had already begun building something meaningful in Bowling Green through Sorella, the women’s boutique they cofounded in 2025. Inspired by family travels throughout Italy, the sisters envisioned a space rooted in timeless European style, quality craftsmanship and pieces chosen to last beyond a single season.
“We don’t follow trends,” Robann says. “The Sorella woman is someone who knows who she is. She’s confident. She wants pieces that are made well and that she’ll enjoy season after season.”
That philosophy carried seamlessly from the boutique into the home. Rather than decorating according to what’s popular, Robann approached each room much like she curates Sorella’s collections, selecting pieces because they felt authentic to her family’s story. The result is a home where every object has purpose and every space reflects the people who live there.
For Robann, the decision to establish those roots in Bowling

Green was just as intentional. Although she and Rebecca grew up in Northern Kentucky, Bowling Green had long been part of their family’s story after Rebecca married a Bowling Green native more than two decades ago. Through countless visits, Robann came to admire the city’s entrepreneurial spirit and the way its residents genuinely champion locally owned businesses.
“When we decided to start this new venture together, we knew we wanted to bring it to Bowling Green,” she says. “We chose Bowling Green because of the community and because we knew so many women who were traveling to Nashville frequently to shop.”
Purchasing the Tudor home transformed those visits into something deeper. Today, the family’s children keep bicycles in the garage so they can ride to their cousins’ house just a few blocks away. What began as a business venture has become a place where holidays are celebrated, weekends stretch a little longer and lifelong memories continue to take shape.
“It gave us the opportunity to really put down roots and feel an even deeper connection to this place,” Robann says. Walking through the home today, Robann sees more than carefully curated interiors or treasured keepsakes. She sees a place where past and present exist in harmony. The home’s Tudor architecture remains unmistakably intact, while every room tells a story unique to the family now caring for it.
“I feel very grounded,” Robann says. “I feel like we’ve done a good job of honoring the history and legacy of the home while looking at it through a refreshed lens.”
That sense of stewardship reflects a belief that homes should evolve thoughtfully, collecting memories rather than replacing them. For the Cunninghams, this home represents far more than beautiful design. It represents family dinners, cousins riding bicycles through the neighborhood, holidays spent together and a growing connection to a community they intentionally chose to call home.
Just as importantly, the home reflects the same philosophy that guides both Sorella and Embellish: choosing pieces with purpose, valuing craftsmanship over trends and creating spaces that feel deeply personal to the people who inhabit them. Rather than rewriting the story of one of Bowling Green’s most recognizable Tudor homes, the Cunninghams and the team at Embellish have added a thoughtful new chapter— one inspired by travel, shaped through collaboration, rooted in history and ultimately defined by family.

On June 13, members and guests gathered at The Club at Olde Stone to celebrate the club’s 20th anniversary. The evening brought together longtime members and newer families to reflect on two decades of community, tradition and memorable experiences in Bowling Green.
The celebration featured live music, dancing, lawn games, caricature artists and face painting, creating a festive atmosphere for guests of all ages. Throughout the evening, friends and families reconnected, shared stories and celebrated the relationships and milestones that have shaped Olde Stone over the past 20 years.
The anniversary also recognized the vision and dedication of the members, staff and leadership who have helped shape Olde Stone into one of the region’s premier private clubs. While honoring the club’s rich history, the celebration also looked ahead to its future and the traditions that will continue bringing generations together for years to come.

6TH, 7TH & 8TH GRADE ESL TEACHER BOWLING GREEN JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL

“It is an act of love and respect to pronounce someone’s name correctly.”

Jonathan Vanderpool brings more than two decades of educational experience to his role as an ESL teacher at Bowling Green Junior High School, where he has served students for the past 11 years. His career began in 2001 teaching music, arts and humanities in Franklin, Kentucky, before transitioning to elementary music and choir in Bowling Green. In 2009, Jonathan and his family moved to India, where he spent three years teaching adult learners in multilingual settings, an experience that would later shape his passion for language education.
After returning to the United States in 2012, Jonathan joined the ESL program at Warren Central High School, where he taught newcomer students and served as department head. He later moved to Bowling Green Junior High, where he continues to support students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds as they navigate both language acquisition and academic success.
In addition to his work in education, Jonathan is an accomplished vocalist and performer who has appeared with Orchestra Kentucky, Ramsey Theatre Company and other music organizations locally and nationally. Whether in the classroom or on stage, he is driven by a desire to connect with others and help them grow, making a lasting impact on the students, families and communities he serves.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT TEACHING?
I love the opportunity to build relationships with students as I introduce them to new and challenging subject matter. Whether I’m teaching music, language or other academic content, my goal is to walk alongside them as individuals with the hope that it has a positive, far-reaching impact on both them and their families.
WHAT

By far, the most rewarding part of my job is building relationships with international students and their families, especially those who are new arrivals with limited English proficiency. Watching them become successful, empowered and integrated members of our community is a joy.

Thank you for all you do for our youth and our community, Jonathan!

“There’s a genuine sense of connection here, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve this community.”
After more than a decade in academic medicine, Dr. Kassis was ready for a new challenge. That next chapter brought him to Bowling Green.
For Dr. Kassis, joining Kassis Salameh Plastic Surgery wasn’t simply a career move. It was an opportunity to bring years of academic experience to a community practice while partnering with longtime friend Dr. Bernard Salameh, whom he has known for more than 26 years.
After years of serving in leadership roles at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, including Vice Chairman of Plastic Surgery, Associate Professor and Surgeon in Chief at Vanderbilt Bedford Hospital, Dr. Kassis was ready to step into private practice. Joining Dr. Salameh allows him to bring decades of academic experience to patients throughout Bowling Green and South Central Kentucky while becoming part of a practice already known for personalized, patient centered care.
That philosophy shapes every aspect of the practice. Specializing in facial plastic surgery, Dr. Kassis focuses on deep plane facelifts, rhinoplasty and migraine surgery. Facial plastic surgery is often associated with dramatic cosmetic transformations, but Dr. Kassis sees his work through a different lens. His goal isn’t to change how someone looks. It’s to help patients look refreshed, confident and like the best version of themselves.
Each day begins early in the operating room, where Dr. Kassis prefers to perform surgeries first thing in the morning. Once his procedures are complete, his focus shifts to consultations with new patients. Although every procedure is different, every conversation starts the same way: by listening. Dr. Kassis believes
understanding a patient’s goals is just as important as surgical expertise, allowing him to create results that complement rather than redefine a person’s natural appearance.
That approach reflects decades spent refining both his surgical skill and philosophy of care. Double board certified and fellowship trained through Yale and Vanderbilt, and with more than 70 peer-reviewed publications and over a decade of experience, Dr. Kassis has made significant contributions to the advancement of facial plastic surgery. Along the way, he says some of his greatest mentors taught him lessons that extended far beyond the operating room. Technical excellence is only part of being a great surgeon. Integrity, humility and always putting the patient’s best interests first are equally important.
Those principles continue to guide every decision he makes. Every treatment plan is tailored to the individual, blending advanced surgical techniques with careful planning and honest conversations about expectations.
As facial plastic surgery has evolved over the last decade, Dr. Kassis has embraced innovations that allow for more precise procedures, faster recoveries and increasingly natural results. Rather than following passing trends, he believes successful surgery should preserve the characteristics that make every patient unique. Looking ahead, he sees healthcare becoming even more personalized through advances in technology, imaging and regenerative medicine, but believes innovation should never replace the trust between physician and patient.
Outside the operating room, Dr. Kassis values balance. Whether he’s playing golf, practicing yoga or
exploring hiking trails, he believes long term wellness comes from consistency over perfection. Small, healthy habits practiced every day have a lasting impact.
“What I’ve appreciated most is how welcoming everyone has been,” Dr. Kassis says. “There’s a genuine sense of connection here, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve this community.”
For Dr. Kassis, the guiding principle behind his practice is simple: treat every patient the way you would want a member of your own family to be treated. It means taking time to listen, communicating honestly and never losing sight of the trust each patient places in his care.
After years of teaching future surgeons and advancing facial plastic surgery in academic medicine, Dr. Kassis is excited to build lasting relationships with the patients and families of South Central Kentucky. Techniques and technology will continue to evolve, but the heart of great medicine remains the same. It begins with trust, grows through compassion and leaves every patient feeling seen, heard and cared for.

“I want patients to realize they have the power to change their health journey,” Amanda says. “When people understand what is happening in their bodies, they are empowered to make choices that help them thrive.”
rowing up receiving regular chiropractic adjustments gave Amanda Greenwell an early appreciation for the body’s natural ability to heal. Today, as the co-owner of Downtown Chiropractic, she channels that lifelong understanding into a practice that emphasizes proactive patient education just as much as hands-on clinical care. By helping local individuals and families understand how their bodies function, she seeks to empower them to take an active, informed role in their long-term systemic wellness.
“I want patients to realize they have the power to change their health journey,” Amanda says. “When people understand what is happening in their bodies, they are empowered to make choices that help them thrive.”
Amanda earned her Bachelor of Arts in Biology before completing her demanding Doctor of Chiropractic degree at Life University in Marietta, Georgia. She now delivers expert care to patients of all ages, with a highly specialized passion for working alongside developing infants and expectant mothers. As the lead doctor within the growing practice, her busy days are filled with detailed patient evaluations, precise chiropractic adjustments, targeted dry needling and developing highly personalized care plans designed to meet each patient’s entirely unique needs.
One of the largest medical misconceptions Amanda hopes to actively dismantle is the idea that chiropractors only treat simple back pain. She explains that true chiropractic care focuses on optimizing the central nervous system, which directly influences and regulates every single function of the human body. Through the holistic approach utilized at Downtown Chiropractic, patients are encouraged to build consistent, healthy daily habits that support long-term well-being, rather than simply addressing acute physical issues only after they arise.
Amanda notes that her profession has continued to expand over the past decade as more people actively seek natural, non-invasive approaches to improving
their health. Looking ahead, she hopes patients will become even more informed and proactive about their daily wellness, recognizing that small, positive choices made consistently have a compounding and lasting impact over a lifetime.
Outside the office, Amanda prioritizes spending quality time with her husband, Dr. Brad Greenwell, and their three children, Mason, Christian and Addison. Whether she is singing on the praise team at Oakland Baptist Church, teaching history lessons within the local homeschool community or cheering enthusiastically on her children from the baseball stands, family and faith remain at the absolute center of her daily life.
Although her husband originally grew up in Kentucky, Amanda notes that the entire family very quickly fell in love with Bowling Green. She highly appreciates the genuine way the local community continually supports one another, and she deeply values the daily opportunity to care for the families who call South Central Kentucky home.

“Every treatment is personalized because no two patients, or their goals, are the same.”
or Lena Gokey, healthcare has always been about more than simply treating an illness. It is about building lifelong relationships, earning patient trust and helping people become the healthiest version of themselves. That core belief inspired Lena to open Select Health in May 2020 with a distinct vision of creating a clinical practice where patients feel completely known, heard and genuinely cared for. More than five years later, that foundational philosophy continues to shape every single aspect of the locally owned practice.
A proud graduate of Western Kentucky University, Lena has spent more than 20 years in the nursing profession, including more than 14 years serving the region as a dedicated Family Nurse Practitioner. Throughout her extensive career, she recognized that many local patients were actively looking for a more personal, accessible approach to healthcare, one that looked far beyond isolated symptoms and focused heavily on overall proactive wellness.
Today, Select Health & IVbg brings traditional primary care, specialized wellness services and advanced medical aesthetic treatments together under one convenient roof, allowing patients to receive comprehensive care tailored directly to their individual needs. From direct primary care models and customized hormone replacement therapy to IV hydration, medical weight loss and aesthetic services, every treatment plan is designed with one ultimate goal in mind: helping patients feel their absolute best.
“Every treatment is personalized because no two patients, or their goals, are the same,” Lena says.
While the specific medical offerings have expanded over the years, Lena notes that the true heart of the practice has never changed. She firmly believes exceptional healthcare always begins with listening. Taking the necessary time to educate patients, answer complex questions and develop lasting relationships has become one of the most rewarding parts of her daily career. She also credits
the sustained success of Select Health & IVbg to the dedicated team that serves alongside her each day, creating a warm environment where every patient feels instantly welcomed and supported.
One of the defining moments in the practice’s history came just one year after opening its doors, when the Select Health facility was completely destroyed in the historic December 2021 tornado. Rather than allowing that devastating setback to define the future of her business, Lena, her staff and the resilient Bowling Green community immediately came together to rebuild from the ground up. The intense experience strengthened her deep commitment to serving others and reinforced the powerful local relationships that have become the absolute foundation of the practice today.
Outside the office, Lena enjoys spending time with her husband, Dorian, their family and their growing group of grandchildren. She openly credits her personal faith, family, loyal patients and dedicated staff for making Select Health what it is today.
As the practice continues to grow in South Central Kentucky, Lena remains tightly focused on the very same mission that inspired her from the beginning: providing compassionate, highly personalized healthcare that helps patients live healthier, more confident lives. For her, caring for the whole person has never been just an abstract philosophy. It is the exact standard every single patient deserves.

“Helping patients gain confidence through their smiles while building lasting relationships is one of the most rewarding parts of being an orthodontist.”
physical smile can completely change in a matter of months, and personal confidence almost always grows right alongside it. This profound transformation is what drives Eric Shrestha in his daily practice at Drobocky Orthodontics. Because orthodontic treatment naturally spans several years, Eric has the unique opportunity to watch his patients grow in more ways than one. Children gradually become young adults, families become lifelong friends and by the end of the clinical process, the true transformation is seen in the confidence those individuals carry into the world every single day.
“Helping patients gain confidence through their smiles while building lasting relationships is one of the most rewarding parts of being an orthodontist,” Eric says.
Originally from Tallahassee, Florida, Eric earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Florida, where he competed at an elite level on the varsity swim team before moving to the region to attend the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry. After serving five honorable years as a general dentist in the United States Navy, he returned to the University of Kentucky to complete his demanding specialty residency in orthodontics. Today, he brings that deep well of military and clinical experience to Drobocky Orthodontics, caring for families across Bowling Green, Glasgow and Franklin.
Eric’s initial passion for orthodontics began with his own childhood experience as a patient. Seeing firsthand how a healthy, corrected smile could completely transform self-esteem inspired him to pursue dentistry, and later specializing in orthodontics allowed him to discover the perfect combination of medical science, clinical precision and visual artistry. He notes that it is a rewarding specialty that allows him to solve highly complex structural problems while simultaneously building deep, meaningful relationships with local patients and their extended families.
At Drobocky Orthodontics, Eric believes exceptional care always begins with intentional listening. Every single treatment plan is fully customized using advanced digital technology, including high-resolution 3D scanning and individualized digital planning software. However, he emphasizes that technology is only one part of the equation. Taking the necessary time to understand each patient’s personal goals and treating every individual like a member of his own family is what truly sets the clinical practice apart.
Outside the busy office, Eric enjoys spending his free time with his wife, Kristin, and their three young sons, Rommy, Skyler and Leo. Whether they are building elaborate LEGO creations, traveling, golfing, cooking together or simply enjoying the beautiful Kentucky outdoors, family remains at the absolute center of everything he does.
Although higher education first brought him to the state for dental school, Bowling Green quickly became home for his family. Eric highly appreciates the community’s welcoming spirit, strong family values and continued economic growth while still managing to maintain its close-knit feel. He and the rest of the Drobocky Orthodontics team also enjoy actively supporting local schools, youth sports teams and community organizations, staying deeply connected with the local families they serve long after their orthodontic treatment officially ends.

“I’m no different than my patients,” he says. “I just happen to have had the training to do some extraordinary things.”
ome of the most advanced surgeries in modern medicine do not require patients to travel to Nashville or Louisville. They are happening right here in South Central Kentucky. For Dr. Matthew Rutter, that is a reality he has worked toward for more than two decades.
After serving as Medical Director for Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery at the University of Toledo, Dr. Rutter was recruited to South Central Kentucky in 2009 with a clear goal in mind: introducing robotic urologic surgery to the region. More than 15 years later, he remains the area’s most experienced robotic urologist, performing many of the most complex procedures using minimally invasive technology that helps patients recover faster while improving outcomes.
“I’ve been performing robotic surgery since 2003,” Dr. Rutter says. “Many people don’t realize the level of care that’s available right here close to home.”
His practice focuses primarily on the treatment of urinary cancers using minimally invasive techniques, but what continues to motivate him is not the technology itself. It is the people behind every procedure.
Dr. Rutter starts most mornings before sunrise, arriving at the hospital around 6 a.m. to check on patients before heading either to the operating room or the clinic. His days often do not end until early evening, but he says the relationships he builds with patients make every long hour worthwhile.
“Many of my patients have become my friends,” he says. “Being able to solve their problems using the skills I’ve spent years developing is incredibly rewarding.”
His interest in medicine began long before medical school. Growing up, athletic injuries meant frequent visits to emergency rooms and physicians’ offices, where he became fascinated by the fast-paced environment and the opportunity to help others. While he originally planned to become an orthopedic surgeon, a trusted mentor introduced him to urology, a specialty that offered the perfect balance of medicine, surgery and constantly evolving technology.
Today, innovation continues to shape his field. From advancements in robotic surgery and laser technology to new treatments for advanced kidney and prostate cancers, Dr. Rutter has watched patients benefit from remarkable progress over the last decade. Looking ahead, he believes artificial intelligence and continued technological innovation will further improve patient care while allowing physicians to treat increasingly complex conditions.
Despite the rapid pace of change, one standard has remained constant throughout his career. Dr. Rutter believes every patient deserves to be treated as an individual. Raised in a small farming community in southern Ohio, he has always related easily to the people he serves.
“I’m no different than my patients,” he says. “I just happen to have had the training to do some extraordinary things.”
Outside the hospital, Dr. Rutter enjoys restoring classic cars, woodworking, gardening and spending time with his wife, Natalie, their children, Ethan and Emma and their two dogs, Sally and Silas. His family attends Holy Spirit Catholic Church, and over the years he has also been involved with Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and the Orchestra Kentucky Chorus.
After recently joining T.J. Regional Health, Dr. Rutter is excited about the future of urologic care in the region. New technologies and expanded capabilities have positioned the hospital to offer advanced treatment close to home, allowing patients to receive exceptional care without leaving the community they know. For Dr. Rutter, that is what great medicine is all about: combining advanced technology with genuine relationships to help patients get back to living their lives.

“Lifestyle medicine is for everyone,” Laiken says. “That’s where we can make some of the biggest differences.”
he most powerful tools in modern healthcare are not always found in a prescription bottle. Often, they begin with the everyday choices made outside the clinic walls. As an internal medicine and lifestyle medicine physician at Med Center Health Primary Care, Dr. Hayes believes clinical care should focus not only on treating advanced disease but also on helping patients build healthier lives from the ground up.
There is a common misconception that lifestyle medicine is simply a boutique service reserved for the healthy and wealthy. Dr. Hayes notes that the exact opposite is true. It is designed for everyone, especially individuals living with chronic diseases where behavioral modifications can make the absolute largest impact. Her practice offers standard primary care with a twist, combining her board certification in lifestyle medicine with specialized credentials in medical obesity management.
“Lifestyle medicine is for everyone,” Dr. Hayes says. “That’s where we can make some of the biggest differences.”
In a medical landscape filled with complex procedures, Dr. Hayes advocates for taking health back to the absolute basics. Her clinical framework focuses on a few simple, foundational pillars: increasing plant predominant whole foods, pursuing regular exercise, securing restful sleep and connecting meaningfully with others while actively reducing stress and avoiding toxic substances like smoking. For Dr. Hayes, watching patients realize improvements in both their physical health and mental well-being through these basic steps is the most rewarding part of her profession.
Along with seeing patients, Dr. Hayes balances her daily routine by teaching medical residents and students. This role allows her to practice within a community hospital setting while remaining deeply connected to academics and the future of healthcare. Throughout her own journey, she has been shaped by numerous
mentors who taught her to value the gravity of the impact doctors can make, to be an unrelenting advocate for patients and to confidently take up space in the medical field. When advising the next generation, she always emphasizes the importance of self-care, noting that professionals must invest heavily in their own health while navigating a challenging and exhausting industry.
Looking toward the future, Dr. Hayes sees artificial intelligence on the forefront of medicine. She hopes technology will ultimately decrease administrative burdens, allowing physicians to have more time for genuine human connection. The goal is to use these evolving digital tools to empower patients to take everyday action to optimize their health rather than just managing a chronic disease state.
Outside the office, Dr. Hayes practices what she teaches by traveling with her husband, working in her garden and running the local Bowling Green chapter of Walk with a Doc, a community walking group that keeps neighbors active.
Remaining in South Central Kentucky was an intentional choice for Dr. Hayes. Leaving the very place that trained and shaped her clinical skills felt wrong, and her husband and family are rooted in the area. She deeply appreciates Bowling Green for its unique blend of diversity and small-town feel, and she approaches every patient relationship with one guiding philosophy: treat others exactly as you would wish to be treated.

Smiths Grove Family Dentistry is a hometown dental office here to serve the needs of our community.
Smiths Grove Family Dentistry is committed to providing comprehensive dental care for patients of all ages in a comfortable, welcoming environment. Our practice offers a wide range of services to help patients maintain and achieve healthy, confident smiles. By combining compassionate care with modern dental technology, we strive to provide personalized treatments that meet the unique needs of every patient and family we serve.

Exceptional dentistry has always been fundamentally centered on people, and caring for teeth just happens to be a daily part of the job. Growing up with two parents who were both practicing dentists, Phillip Walden saw firsthand the profound difference compassionate healthcare could make in someone’s life. Their quiet dedication to caring for patients inspired him to follow a very similar professional path, eventually earning his undergraduate degree from Western Kentucky University before completing his Doctor of Dental Medicine at the University of Kentucky.
Today, as the owner of Smiths Grove Family Dentistry, Phillip pairs advanced modern technology with the kind of personalized clinical care that is becoming increasingly rare in the medical field. While digital imaging, high-resolution 3D scanning and rapid advances in restorative dentistry have completely transformed the profession, he believes the true foundation of great dental care has remained entirely unchanged: building lasting human relationships and always putting the needs of patients first.
One of the most meaningful lessons in his career came directly from the previous owners of the practice, Drs. Deon and Mary Benson.
“They taught me that the foundation of a successful dental practice is simply treating patients the right way and always putting their needs first,” Phillip says.
That core philosophy now guides every clinical decision he makes. Whether he is performing routine preventive care or completely restoring a patient’s smile, Phillip believes dentistry is about much more than isolated oral health. It is about helping local people regain their personal confidence, preserve their natural teeth and significantly improve their overall quality of life.
He also regularly encourages patients not to wait until something actively hurts before scheduling an appointment. Many dental problems develop silently without any obvious symptoms, making regular clinical checkups one of the most

important investments patients can possibly make in their long-term health. Proactive preventive care, he notes, often helps avoid far more extensive and costly treatment down the road.
Outside the office, Phillip and his wife, Dr. Amanda Walden, stay incredibly busy cheering on their three active children, Sophia, Stella and Kipton, at volleyball games, baseball fields and football stadiums across the region. He is also highly active in Christ Fellowship Church, serves on the Activities Committee Board for the Smiths Grove Lion’s Club and has coached youth baseball, basketball and soccer while volunteering his time as an FCA Character Coach.
Although he had numerous opportunities to practice dentistry elsewhere, South Central Kentucky has always felt like home. Smiths Grove holds a deeply special meaning for his family, and he considers it a true privilege to care for generations of local families in a close-knit community where neighbors still know one another by name. His approach continues to shape the welcoming, smalltown atmosphere patients have come to expect at Smiths Grove Family Dentistry, proving that honesty, compassion and mutual respect are the most vital tools in any successful medical practice.

“My favorite part isn’t the treatment itself,” Cory says. “It’s seeing someone’s confidence come back.”
onfidence isn’t something you can bottle or buy. But for many people, it begins the moment they recognize themselves in the mirror again.
That is the moment Cory Gearlds hopes to create every day.
As an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, cosmetic injector and co-owner of RENEW Aesthetics and Wellness, Cory has spent a decade helping patients feel more comfortable in their own skin. Aesthetic medicine is frequently viewed as simply a way to look younger, but he sees it differently. For him, the work is about helping someone walk out the door standing a little taller than when they walked in.
“My favorite part isn’t the treatment itself,” Cory says. “It’s seeing someone’s confidence come back.”
That mindset shapes the culture at the Scottsville Road practice. Rather than chasing fleeting trends or dramatic transformations, Cory focuses on subtle results that help people look naturally refreshed while preserving the unique facial features they were born with. On a fast-paced day, he might consult with 20 to 30 patients, treating each person as an individual by listening to their concerns and creating a long-term plan tailored just for them.
His path into healthcare started early. Growing up, Cory watched his mother work as a nurse and saw firsthand the compassion and dedication that healthcare professionals can have on a person’s life. Those experiences inspired him to follow a medical path where he could make a meaningful difference every day. When he discovered aesthetic medicine in 2016, everything clicked. The specialty gave him the rare chance to combine medical science with artistry while building lasting relationships with patients.
Today, Cory shares that expertise on a larger scale. He serves as a national trainer for the Allergan Medical Institute, traveling across the country to teach advanced injection techniques and patient anatomy safety to other clinicians. Continuing to learn and share that industry innovation ultimately benefits the people who trust him with their care back home in South Central Kentucky.
Even with professional opportunities that take him across the United States, Bowling Green is where Cory wanted to build his business and his life. After living here for 20 years, the city has truly become home. He and his wife, Lauren, are raising their two daughters, Stella and Margot, in the community. Outside the office, his focus completely shifts to family, whether they are traveling to new destinations, spending a day at the lake or simply enjoying downtime with close friends.
His passion for serving others also extends deep into the local community. Cory is actively involved with Leadership Bowling Green, Hillvue Heights Church and the United Way of Southern Kentucky, where he notably served as Chair for Handbags for Hope, one of the region’s premier fundraising events.
Ask Cory what guides him as a healthcare provider and his answer is simple: treat every patient the way you would want a member of your own family to be treated. It is an approach that has earned RENEW the trust of patients throughout the region, though Cory is quick to share the credit for that success. He notes that the brand is built on a whole team of talented individuals who are just as invested in the patient experience as he is.
At the end of the day, Cory believes that when people feel good about themselves, it positively impacts their relationships, careers and overall quality of life. True confidence isn’t really about appearance anyway. It is about helping people feel like the best version of themselves both inside and out.

Great healthcare always starts with a meaningful conversation. That fundamental belief is why Desiree Hughes chose a clinical model that allows her to spend unrushed, dedicated time with every single patient. At she·ology, Desiree provides comprehensive women’s healthcare through a deeply personalized approach that gives her the opportunity to truly know the women she serves, rather than just reviewing their charts.
“I believe the best healthcare begins with listening,” Desiree says. “Every woman has a unique story, and when patients feel heard, respected and understood, we can build trust and make important healthcare decisions together.”
A graduate of Western Kentucky University and Frontier Nursing University, Desiree has always been naturally drawn to a career centered entirely on caring for others. She notes that healthcare gives her the daily opportunity to educate, encourage and walk alongside patients through every distinct stage of life, whether they are arriving for an annual wellness visit, navigating complex hormone changes or managing chronic health concerns.
What she enjoys most about her practice, however, is the genuine connection that happens during appointments. Over time, clinical conversations naturally extend into life updates. Patients regularly share photos of their children and grandchildren, celebrate personal milestones, talk about recent family vacations or open up during life’s more difficult, vulnerable moments. Those enduring relationships allow her to care for the whole person rather than simply treating isolated symptoms.
At she·ology, Desiree sees about 15 patients each day, intentionally giving herself the time required to answer deep questions, provide thorough patient education and develop individualized care plans. As the region’s very first women’s healthcare practice to offer a membership-based Direct Primary Care model alongside specialized hormone health and weight management, the practice was

intentionally designed to create an entirely different clinical experience. Patients are never rushed through appointments. Instead, they are welcomed into a calm space where listening, education and relationships come first.
Outside the office, Desiree is wife to her husband, John, and a proud mom to their four-year-old son, Jett, who keeps life full of daily adventure. Whether they are gardening, swimming, spending time on the family farm or simply enjoying the outdoors together, family remains at the absolute center of her life. She and her family are also active, dedicated members of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Having the opportunity to care for women in the very same community she calls home makes her clinical work especially meaningful. Even as Bowling Green continues to grow rapidly, Desiree notes that the area has never lost the profound sense of connection that makes it special. She points directly to the inspiring way neighbors, churches and local businesses immediately came together following the December 2021 tornado as a beautiful reminder of the compassion and

“Medicine is
a partnership,
and the best results occur when we take the time to understand the person behind the patient.”
n exceptional medical experience does not begin with a prescription or a treatment plan. It begins entirely with listening. It is a lesson
Heather Heck learned during her intensive nurse practitioner training at Vanderbilt University, where a favorite professor often reminded students that if you truly listen to patients, they will frequently tell you the diagnosis themselves. Years later, that foundational clinical philosophy still shapes the way Heather interfaces with every individual who seeks her expertise.
Heather views aesthetic medicine as a distinct specialty that goes far deeper than surface appearance, combining rigorous science, delicate artistry and meaningful human relationships. Every initial consultation under her care begins as an open conversation, giving patients the dedicated space to share their personal history, aesthetic concerns and lifestyle choices before a customized treatment path is ever introduced.
“When patients feel heard, educated and actively involved in their clinical care, the outcomes are infinitely better because they are built around the individual,” Heather says. “Medicine is a partnership, and the best results occur when we take the time to understand the person behind the patient.”
Her path into the healthcare field began long before she established her own practice. After a serious wakeboarding accident in high school led to multiple emergency room visits, she became fascinated by the field of medicine and the immense teamwork required to care for patients during vulnerable moments. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Western Kentucky University before completing her Master of Science in Nursing at Vanderbilt University. Along her professional journey, mentors ranging from university professors and emergency physicians to experienced nurses and a local plastic surgeon helped shape both her deep clinical knowledge and her precise, empathetic approach to patient care.
Today, Heather balances direct patient care with leading her clinical team, focusing heavily on evidence based treatments, long-term skin health and proactive prevention rather than dramatic or unnatural transformations. She believes that the field is rapidly changing, and staying at the forefront of continuing education is vital to delivering safe, beautiful outcomes.
Although medicine has always been her professional passion, Heather notes that her greatest role is being a wife and mother. She and her husband, Michael, enjoy traveling with their two children each summer, exploring national parks, hiking scenic trails and making memories in their family camper. At home, she loves gardening and caring for her family’s 1938 Georgian Revival home, thoughtfully preserving its historic architectural character while making it a warm, welcoming space for friends and neighbors.
A native of nearby Glasgow, Heather says returning to South Central Kentucky to build both her family and her practice felt like the natural choice. She deeply values the tight-knit relationships that define the Bowling Green community and considers it an absolute privilege to care for the neighbors who place their trust in her hands.

Lifestyle medicine is changing the way physicians treat chronic disease by focusing on daily habits alongside traditional medical care. Dr. Laiken Hayes, a primary care physician at Med Center Health and recently board-certified lifestyle medicine specialist, says it is a structured, evidence-based approach that uses behavior change as a core treatment.
“Lifestyle medicine is a way to treat chronic conditions like heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and so much more,” said Dr. Hayes. Lifestyle medicine means lifestyle changes. These changes are foundational to every guideline for treating chronic disease. This is not about groundbreaking, fringe, or alternative practices. People are searching for a more natural and holistic way to address health conditions and preserve health. Lifestyle medicine is a focus of practice that promotes the optimization of a healthy lifestyle to treat the root cause of many chronic diseases.
Lifestyle medicine brings the evidence backed interventions to the forefront to help promote health-span. And that’s something I’m incredibly passionate about.”
Lifestyle medicine helps prevent, treat, and sometimes even reverse chronic illnesses by addressing the everyday behaviors that have the greatest impact on health. Rather than relying solely on medications, it focuses on sustainable changes that improve long-term health.
1. Nutrition – Emphasizing a diet centered on whole, predominantly plant-based foods rich in fruits, vegetables, and fiber.
2. Physical activity – Encouraging regular movement, with special attention to resistance training.
3. Sleep – Prioritizing seven to eight hours of consistent, restorative sleep.
4. Social connection – Building strong support networks that promote better long-term health.
5. Avoidance of toxic substances – Reducing or eliminating tobacco, alcohol, and other harmful substances.
6. Stress management – Learning practical strategies to manage chronic stress and reduce disease risk.
These pillars are more than wellness trends. They are practices that can significantly improve health. During a lifestyle medicine visit, physicians spend time understanding a patient’s daily routine, including nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress, and support systems. Together, they develop realistic, achievable goals that fit the patient’s lifestyle.
“This approach to patient treatment isn’t just for those who are extremely health-conscious,” said Dr. Hayes. “This approach can be life-changing, especially for those that are struggling with many health conditions. Anyone can benefit from
lifestyle medicine if they’re interested in making behavior changes.”
Lifestyle medicine complements, but does not replace, traditional medical care. While many patients still need medications, healthier habits can improve conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and obesity, and in some cases reduce the amount of medication needed.
“While visits with a health care provider are important, they represent only a small part of a person’s overall health journey,” said Dr. Hayes. “The biggest opportunities to improve health happen between appointments – at home, at work, and in the community – where healthy habits and daily support make the greatest difference.”
To schedule an appointment with Dr. Hayes, call 270-901-0629 or text MCHDOC to 270-796-3200.

America's 250th anniversary is more than a national milestone, providing an opportunity to celebrate the history that connects our own community to the founding of our nation. Bowling Green traces its origins to founders George and Robert Moore, who donated the land for our historic downtown, while the surrounding region was settled largely by Revolutionary War veterans claiming historic land grants.
Coupled with Warren County being named in honor of Bunker Hill hero General Joseph Warren, our community holds a unique and permanent place in America's story.

As communities across the country came together to commemorate the semiquincentennial, organizations throughout Bowling Green united for a memorable celebration filled with concerts, museum exhibits, educational programs, patriotic events and more. The following pages capture those unforgettable local moments honoring 250 years of American history and the enduring spirit of the community shaping its future.
