EVENTS ELSEWHERE Marlborough 60th Anniversary Rally on the weekend of 5th – 7th October. Starting with a noggin and natter on Friday night, a run of 90 miles on Saturday with an evening meal at the Clubrooms and breakfast on Sunday at a local restaurant and the parts shed will be open later in the morning. There is also an opportunity to visit the Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre, home of the Warbirds of WW1 and WW2, including Sir Peter Jackson’s collection. Please contact me if you require an entry form. Canterbury Branch Swap Meet on 13th, 14th & 15th October at McLeans Island. Nelson Branch – National Veteran Rally 16th – 18th November. Contact me for information. Preliminary Notice – Veteran & Vintage Tour to start Ashburton 6th May – Finish Hanmer Springs 13th May. Details yet to be finalised but to travel through the Haast Pass. ALSO End of the Summer Wine North Island Club Captain’s Tour 713th March 2019 – See Beaded Wheels for details SOUTH ISLAND EASTER RALLY … 19th to 22nd April 2019 – Ashburton Branch 50th Anniversary. There is a group from our Branch travelling down to Ashburton to take part in this Rally and we would just love it if some more West Coast members could come along with us. If you have never been to an Easter Rally now is the time to do it, as NI & SI Easter Rallies are now going to be held in alternate years. Contact me for information or if you would like to talk about it.
We welcome the following new members to the Branch… Kevin Alsweiler who lives in Waimangaroa. Kevin is a motorcycle enthusiast and owns a 1947 Triumph ST, a BSA 1966 Thunderbolt and an Aerial 1952 Red Hunter. Also Bruce and Yvonne Reeves from Hokitika. They own a very nice 1964 MkII Jaguar. We look forward to meeting up with you all on our Club runs. Doug and Trish Griffin have transferred to the Manawatu Branch. They now reside in Fielding and we wish them well in their change of direction. We have received a resignation from Lorraine Baxter, best wishes to Lorraine. Also as I have mentioned before, if you are paying your sub online, PLEASE DON’T FORGET YOUR NAME AND MEMBERSHIP NUMBER WHEN FILLING IN THE DETAILS. NATIONAL DAFFODIL DAY RALLY We had a terrific turnout for the day and raised the rewarding sum of $1430.00 for the Cancer Society here on the Coast. Up $600.00 on last year. Excellent support from the public as well as our fellow motoring clubs – the Greymouth Rodders and the Stray Cats. It turned out to be a successful day sharing the event between Greymouth and Hokitika, also thanks to those who volunteered their time and vehicles to deliver daffodils for the Cancer Society, even though it turned out to be a longer day than we anticipated. I have this day received a letter from our National President Diane Quarry to inform us that $60,000 was raised nationwide for the Cancer Society. I will forward that letter as an attachment for you to read. As a result of the great support on our day, a few of us supported the Prostate Cancer Rally to Nelson Creek on the 1st September.
IMPORTANT… NEEDED NOW SCENICLAND RALLY – 16TH MARCH 2019 It is time to start planning for our next Scenicland Rally. Even though it seems to still be months away, the initial details must be thought about now. This year we would like to form a Rally Sub-Committee that will work together on this and report back to the Committee each month. We anticipate that this will spread the load and bring fresh ideas into the event. We put out a request to a couple of interested members who would like to join up with John Fensom and Dave Houston (Committee members) and work towards our Rally next year. The old saying “many hands, light work” comes to mind. Please contact Allan Giles or John Fensom if you are interested.
CODE OF CONDUCT Now, the Committee doesn’t want to scare people with these words but this prospective Remit to the VCC Executive has been sent to Clubs for consideration, before being dealt with at their next meeting. Your Committee has discussed it and decided to distribute the remit to you the members for your information. If anyone has something they wish to comment on, please contact either Allan Giles, Chairman or our delegate Roger Devlin. Our Branch has not had any issues in this area but some apparently have, therefore we count ourselves lucky. I will forward this as a separate attachment along with Diane Quarrie’s letter.

SERVICE BADGES – To those members who are nearing 25, 35 or 50 years membership, please contact Membership officer David Campbell. You are entitled to a service badge for your continued membership. Check out the date you joined the Vintage Car Club.
NAME BADGES – Also, please contact David Campbell if you would like a name badge. The Branch supplies your first one.
VIC FORMS - A reminder to all members who have VIC cards that are due to expire, you will receive a personalised RENEWAL FORM from the National Office at least three months before the due date. You cannot download a form off the internet. They are personalised for each individual vehicle. Please fill in and hand to Branch Secretary.
VERO INSURANCE - If you take your Insurance out with VERO they will then pay the Branch a small Commission which helps with Branch finances. Please note that when applying for Insurance cover with VERO you must quote the Branch number which is 36 plus your membership number. Also you are reminded that this scheme is set up for financial members only.
