NATIONAL DAFFODIL DAY Our effort towards the National fundraising effort for the Cancer Society raised $823.00. Thank you to all those who supported us on the day which contrary to reports, turned out to be really kind to us, the sun shone. This figure would not have been possible without the assistance of the Greymouth Rodders Club and the Straycats who supplied a great variety of vehicles. We had 67 vehicles register for the run downtown and through the Aorangi Reserve. Apparently our erstwhile Club Captain took the opportunity to go back in time and do a bit of traffic directing to get the vehicles onto the main highway at Paroa. He also created a traffic jam in downtown Greymouth but it was all in good humour and certainly for a great cause. It was your day Colin. The money raised has been donated to our local Cancer Society Branch. We had the use of the Greymouth Rodders clubrooms at ANZAC Park which proved to be most suitable for afternoon tea, there was plenty of parking space and we did attract a good amount of public interest. As this looks to now be an annual National event, we will be looking to our members next year for support, maybe bigger and brighter. EVENTS ELSEWHERE Canterbury Branch Swapmeet – October 6th, 7th & 8th. I have the entry form for the Nelson Biennial Rally for anyone who is interested in attending on 13th – 15th October.
SEPTEMBER CLUB RUN Colin is planning a Club run, possibly to Berlins again but he will be contacting you all separately and via our ringers shortly. BITS AND PIECES We welcome new members Eric and Esther Schutte to the Branch. They have purchased a 1929 Wilys Knight and we look forward to meeting up with you at our Club functions.
Julie from National Office is again having problems with some members who pay online and do not give their membership number or name, thus she has no idea who the payment is from. She requests that members be reminded to give full details when paying online.
If anyone from our Club who has paid in September thinks they may be guilty, please contact her. Details for contact are in the Beaded Wheels. She has two such payments.
Thanks to those who helped deliver daffodils for the Cancer Society’s Daffodil week. Your assistance was much appreciated.
Our Branch Committee placed a bid to host the 2019 National AGM. As we were the only bidders we got it. “Surprise”. This is always held in August and we will be looking for some support from members. Roger Devlin our delegate and David Campbell are looking into a suitable venue to hold this function. The West Coast can be a popular place for people from away and we are planning on hosting around 120 people. Maybe more.
Planning is underway for next year’s Scenicland Rally on 17th March 2018. John and Janis Fensom have kindly agreed to be involved again but we do need our members support to help make this successful. MARK THIS DATE on your calendar.

The National body wishes you to be reminded about the discount fuel scheme which came into being last year. I have the information on computer and can forward it to anyone who is interested.
The recent controversial motion which was voted for nationally was not passed. West Coast returned 25 votes which was 16% of our membership. The national figure was 1637 votes which was 19% of membership.
Roger Devlin and Allan Giles attended the recent National AGM in Blenheim. Roger presented a comprehensive report to the last Committee meeting on matters of interest. You will find these details in your next Beaded Wheels which will be out at the beginning of next month. Read it up, there are always issues that will affect us at some stage.

NAME BADGES – Also, please contact David Campbell if you would like a name badge. The Branch supplies your first one.
VIC FORMS - A reminder to all members who have VIC cards that are due to expire, you will receive a personalised RENEWAL FORM from the National Office at least three months before the due date. You cannot download a form off the internet. They are personalised for each individual vehicle.
VERO INSURANCE - If you take your Insurance out with VERO they will then pay the Branch a small Commission which helps with Branch finances. Please note that when applying for Insurance cover with VERO you must quote the Branch number which is 36 plus your membership number.
