Last month’s Club run to Kaniere via Dillmanstown, Stratford and Blue Spur was a lovely run, appreciated by some who had not been through that road before. Unfortunately we lost Arthur Foster through some bad luck, we had a talk about that at Committee last week and remembered the old saying in VCC circles “drive following the car behind”. Think about it, it’s lonely at the back if you have a break down or haven’t heard directions. Been there. To which I might add – if the hearing isn’t too good, ASK. (I’ve got one at home here who relies on me to hear most things). The roast was a good one, good company, what else do we need. 29 came long. 25th November, Club run. Colin is anticipating a run up Reefton way where he knows of an interesting garage raid plus lunch to follow. We have had an invitation from Greymouth Aero Club for some old cars to come along for display at their 85th celebrations this Saturday, 13th October (weather permitting). Other aero clubs will be flying in with arrivals from 10am. Anyone interested contact Sabrina nicksabs@gmail.com or alternatively Marie Woolhouse 768 6525 NOTE: Subscriptions are due by 20th October to obtain a discount. Also Julie (National Office) has had a sub paid online with the reference… “Willow-wai PROP” paid on 25th September. She cannot identify it. You will have received the latest Beaded Wheels recently. The National Office info on page 6 is always useful as is the rest of the mag of course. Allan Giles and Roger Devlin attended the National AGM in Napier in August and included with your BW are the minutes from that meeting. We do belong to a nationwide organisation and it is useful to know what is happening at the top level. We will be hosting this event next year on 16/17th August and planning is already underway.
Thanks to Ron Coleman for putting his hand up to help with the Scenicland Rally sub committee along with John Fensom and Dave Houston on 16th March 2019. Thanks also to Nick Harrison for letting his arm be twisted the right way and agreeing (along with John Fowler and Committee assistance) to organise the ROSCO field trials next June.
EVENTS ELSEWHERE Canterbury Branch Swap Meet on 13th, 14th & 15th October at McLeans Island, that’s this weekend, bound to be a good few Coasters over there. Don’t like the look of the weather though !! Nelson Branch – Swap Meet – Saturday, 9th February 2019. VIC FORMS - A reminder to all members who have VIC cards that are due to expire, you will receive a personalised RENEWAL FORM from the National Office at least three months before the due date. You cannot download a form off the internet. They are personalised for each individual vehicle. Please fill in and hand to Branch Secretary.
VERO INSURANCE - If you take your Insurance out with VERO they will then pay the Branch a small Commission which helps with Branch finances. Please note that when applying for Insurance cover with VERO you must quote the Branch number which is 36 plus your membership number. Also you are reminded that this scheme is set up for financial members only.
