The monthly morning tea get-together at Shantytown is still attracting a good few members, it’s an enjoyable break in the month for us old retired fogies and the scones, jam and cream are still yummy. Thanks to Kevin Tucker for setting this up 2-3 years ago now, it was a good idea. Colin’s club run last month was up to Westport. It was just a beautiful day for a trip up the Coast Road and lunch at the Cosmopolitan Hotel was really nice. Caught up with some Westport and Reefton members while we were there and you will see some new vehicles to the Club in the photos later on. EVENT ELSEWHERE We have had notification that the date of this year’s annual Snow Run, hosted by Nelson and Marlborough Branches alternatively is to be on the 15th July. Anyone interested in making up a group to attend, please contact me asap as we need numbers for this year’s catering Branch.
AGM 10th June, 11.30am at the Union Hotel We had quite a good attendance for the AGM last weekend and while we appreciate most of our Committee remaining on as a block, we were lucky to have two new members volunteer their time on Committee. Thanks to Dave Houston and Ron Coleman we now have some fresh faces and ideas at our Committee meeting. Ron put his hand up after the meeting closed. Thanks also to Kevin Tucker who reconsidered his earlier decision and is going to stay on, his considerable knowledge is appreciated.
Our appreciation goes to Brent Woolhouse who has stood down after many years on Committee and overall involvement in the Branch. Brent is nowadays busy with many Community projects but luckily, he has allowed Marie to stay on as Rally Secretary/Treasurer. Thank you Brent. The Club Captains position is going to be split up to spread the load and this will be discussed at our next Committee meeting. Next month’s newsletter which will be after the July meeting and will then have the new Committee on the front page for your information. John Sturgeon gave a very interesting talk on the history of the various garages and associated motoring services from Kumara to Runanga. It is amazing to be reminded of the garages and number of mechanics that have worked in this area in the last 50 or so years. How times have changed. NATIONAL DAFFODIL DAY 26TH AUGUST 2018 Although we are still in the planning stage, we intend this year to take the Daffodil Day to Hokitika, starting with a display in Greymouth at the Greymouth Rodders carpark from 11.30am to 12.30pm. as we did last year. At 12.30 the idea is to travel to Hokitika where the cars will be on display in the CBD from 1-3pm. This will be in the town area so your time can be used as you wish while you are there. Please note these times may have to be fine-tuned but it gives you an idea of what we are going to do this year. The charge is $10 per vehicle and the public are invited to enter their vehicles if they wish. Also, I have had info from the Cancer Society that they are holding a QUIZ NIGHT on Saturday, July 7th at 7pm at the RSA Clubrooms. They invite teams of 4-6, $10 per person. Light supper provided. Team Registrations to 7689557 or email your team name to pavel.bares@cancercwc.org.nz. All proceeds to the Cancer Society. Entries close 5pm Friday 6th July 2018.

SERVICE BADGES – To those members who are nearing 25, 35 or 50 years membership, please contact Membership officer David Campbell. You are entitled to a service badge for your continued membership. Check out the date you joined the Vintage Car Club.
NAME BADGES – Also, please contact David Campbell if you would like a name badge. The Branch supplies your first one.
VIC FORMS - A reminder to all members who have VIC cards that are due to expire, you will receive a personalised RENEWAL FORM from the National Office at least three months before the due date. You cannot download a form off the internet. They are personalised for each individual vehicle. Please fill in and hand to Branch Secretary.
VERO INSURANCE - If you take your Insurance out with VERO they will then pay the Branch a small Commission which helps with Branch finances. Please note that when applying for Insurance cover with VERO you must quote the Branch number which is 36 plus your membership number. Also you are reminded that this scheme is set up for financial members only.
