ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING – 11th JUNE
A good attendance at the Workingmen’s Clubrooms at Hokitika. The Committee was relected as a standing block. Les McKenzie, John Clayton and Janis Fensom have stood down and we thank you all for your contributions to the Branch. John Fensom (nominated Kevin Tucker / sec. Dave Campbell) has joined us and John Canning agreed to join the Committee after the meeting closed. John was nominated by Dave Campbell and seconded by Colin Peacock.

Kevin Tucker presented June Campbell with the Frances Hunter trophy. A wee note from me … It was a real surprise to receive this trophy and I think I might have been a bit overcome so didn’t think to say anything. Francie was a special lady and I feel quite honoured to have part of her in my house for the next year. Thanks Kevin, you made my job easy too, a well deserved break for you now. Also my thanks to Lynda, who I know, was the “power behind the throne”.
ROSCO TRIALS – 18TH JUNE A successful day with 31 entries. The overall winner was Avon Hyde (Canterbury), with the first lady being Linda Topliss (Nelson). John says… “Thank you to everyone who gave their time and expense to help with our Rosco Sporting Trial. What at first seems a daunting task is made much easier having a good support team. Special thanks to the ladies who provided such a fantastic spread for the afternoon tea/prize giving. I have had lots of positive comments about Coast hospitality”.
CLUB RUN 23RD JULY Coli will be in touch with details of this month’s Club Run. INCREASE OF CLUB LEVY It was put to the AGM and unanimously agreed, that we increase the Branch levy portion of our subscriptions to $20 single and $5 joint which will be included in our subs due later this year. The Branch levy has not been changed for many years and it is now evident that our costs are increasing each year. The main cost is due to printing and stationery owing to the fact that most correspondence is now received via email, which then has to be printed off by the Secretary. The Committee is in the process of purchasing a Club printer which will go with the Secretary as the position changes hands. NATIONAL AGM – MARLBOROUGH - 12-13TH AUGUST Another reminder that the National AGM is to be held at Blenheim this year. Next year it will be a North Island venue and 2019 it could be here as we have put a bid in for hosting the event. Chairman Allan says… It would be great to form a group to travel to Blenheim with our delegate Roger Devlin to take part in the proceedings and to get some ideas for our turn. For an entry form ring our secretary … 7684226. On the Saturday afternoon from 2-4pm, there is a coach tour to local attractions and a visit to Omaka Aviation Museum. The parts shed will be open on Sunday from 10am-1pm.
NATIONAL DAY- 27 AUGUST (Daffodil Rally for Cancer) We now have some early plans to celebrate National Day. We will gather from 12.30am at the Suburbs Rugby League clubrooms at Karoro Domain. The Stray Cats and the Hot Rod Club have been invited to join in with us and at 1.00pm which is the starting time as requested by our national body, we will leave and have a Run through the Aorangi Reserve and back to the Karoro Domain. There we will arrange a display of the vehicles which will be open to the public. There will be a cost for each vehicle of $10 and we request you bring along a plate for a shared afternoon tea in the Clubrooms. The public will be asked for a gold coin donation and all money collected is to be donated to the Cancer Society. All money is to remain on the West Coast.
PROPOSED MOTOR CYCLE GROUP A note to all motor cycle enthusiasts ‌ It is proposed to hold a meeting with the aim of forming a Motor Cycle Division within our Branch. All those who are interested, please register with Allan Giles or Roger Devlin.
IMPORTANT NOTICE NOTICES OF MOTION FOR VOTING You will have received in the post this week, your Ballot Papers for voting on two Notices of Motion which will impact on the Club as a whole. We urge members to read our National President’s message on page 4 in the last Beaded Wheels (Issue 346) as well as the insert explaining the motions. Please vote send your ballot papers away as it is very important that you have your say. Your Committee has viewed the proposals and feel that they are unable to support Motion Two because of possible ramifications to the Club as a whole If you require more information please contact a Club member.

SERVICE BADGES – To those members who are nearing 25, 35 or 50 years membership, please contact Membership officer David Campbell. You are entitled to a service badge for your continued membership. Check out the date you joined the Vintage Car Club.
NAME BADGES – Also, please contact David Campbell if you would like a magnetised name badge. The Branch supplies your first one.
VIC FORMS - A reminder to all members who have VIC cards that are due to expire, you will receive a personalised RENEWAL FORM from the National Office at least three months before the due date. You cannot download a form off the internet. They are personalised for each individual vehicle.
VERO INSURANCE - If you take your Insurance out with VERO they will then pay the Branch a small Commission which helps with Branch finances. Please note that when applying for Insurance cover with VERO you must quote the Branch number which is 36 plus your membership number.
