In 1916, 55 percent of the cars in the world were Model T Fords, a record that has never been beaten. The first gas gauge appeared in cars in 1922. In 1923, 173 new inventions by women for cars had been reported. Among these inventions were a carburetor and an electric engine starter.
Club Captain;- Is working on activity for National Cancer Day. Rally to Twizel postponed till warmer weather, trying to organise another local rally. Mid winter meal to take the form of a Progressive Dinner on the 7 th of July. General Business;-The chairman would like someone to volunteer to scribe to the Beaded Wheels, Trevor to give it some thought.

THESE REPORTS ARE GETTING HARDER EVERY MONTH TO WRITE MUST BE THE OLD AGE THING Not much to report this month , as you will know we changed our night out
,It has been suggested that some thought should go into the storage fee charges as they seem to be unrealistically low.

We will have to get the swap meet under way( need volunteers) to put out adds
Hall keys, Steve, Robert, Trevor, Keith, Bill, Peter, Hall convenor, & 2 dance groups have 1 each. It was agreed that swap meet to include car boot sales.
And flyers. I feel we should open it up to everyone and set the sites, e.g. trailer One site car and trailer two sites, and change it to Waimate v.c.c.swap meet and Car boot sale and invite other clubs to participate and pray for good weather
Gutter crossing, Council quote $1200, club to look into building ramps.
The tea pot rally coming up in September so this will also have to be arranged
Movie, “Bullit”, Theatre Trust can’t get the 50th anniversary run of this film at the moment, alternatives to be looked at. National Cancer Day, Club Captain is working on a run & other activity for that day.

The shortest day has been and gone, and so has half of the year! The progressive dinner planned for last Saturday was changed to a pot luck meal as not enough members were able to attend. Instead we gathered at the club rooms and had a great time catching up with friends, and sharing a lovely meal. Everybody pitched in and helped to make for a successful evening. Due to poor health the club room Convener has stepped aside, and Margaret Rogers is filling in. Her contact phone is listed with the rest of the committee. I would like to wish Robert Todd a speedy recovery from his unfortunate fall. We hope to have a film at the club rooms after the August monthly meeting. More in the next newsletter. Marie Mehlhopt & Lorraine have agreed to be Minute secretaries when required. Barry Duff will do the rally route for the Teapot run. Correspondence;- Usual Newsletters, correspondence from Head Office, re rule changes for Club Manuel, an email from Pleasant Point Railway asking if anyone knew where they could acquire a Ford TT chassis so they can build up another Replica Railcar.
