This is Peter here writing from North Shore Auckland.
As the incoming new Editor of the Rivet I thought it appropriate to give thanks and recognition to Ian. As you will know Ian has been the editor of the Rivet for many editions.
Following in the footsteps of an experienced person is often a somewhat daunting task. However with those other experienced members around I know we can carry on producing a Rivet for our club members to be proud of.
Whilst at this juncture, I feel it important to thank Hinemoa for offering to assist me with her help and enthusiastic willingness.
Also thanks to the committee for allowing me to take on the role.
Being an ex Royal Navy Serviceman I know what the " Press Gangs" where. However although the role of Editor was suggested to me at no time do I feel pressurized. That said the members have my positive assurance that I will carry out my job roles with enthusiasm.
As some of you will know I have ongoing commitments up in Auckland and Orewa. This often precludes me from participating in rallies, various Sunday drives and club nights. This said for the purposes of editing the Rivet, I can always be contacted via email or mobile phone. ( I will always reply).
I look forward to the future of Rivet and I hope I can gain a greater input from the members.
To that end you may well find me as an editor asking a variety of pertinent questions regarding rallies, cars and other related experiences of members.

Chairman's Report — July 2026
Thank you for your support over the last year. The club remains in a good position as we move forward.
Again I hope to see continuing ideas and help from club members with regard to club night speakers, Sunday runs and rallies. I encourage anyone with thoughts for improvement to approach any of the committee members to bring these to our notice.
The last Sunday run was a very relaxed cruise to many points of interest and the opportunity for photo shoots of our beloved vehicles which Hinemoa has been putting onto a flash drive to be run through the television in the clubrooms. She has made an excellent job and the photos look absolutely fabulous. Remember if you vehicle is not up there all you have to do is take a photo and send it through to Hinemoa and she will do the rest.
My AJS7r is finally finished and ready for the new racing season which starts again in September with race meetings at Taupo in September and Manfield in October.
Ann Berntsen’s Model A and John Miles’ Austin 12/4 are both up and running again after having to enjoy a ride home on the tow truck following the Annual rally. (Such is rallying).

Club Captain’s Report– July 2026
The June Sunday run saw people driving around the city and country side taking photos of their cars with some great creative shots being taken. The photos can be seen on the TV screen in the club rooms. If your car is not on it or you want to update your photo of your car get a photo and sent to Hinemoa who is doing a great job of updating it.
We have rearranged the tables in the club room to see how they work in the next few meetings, comments from people at the Sunday run was very positive.
This months Sunday run is a visit to a site of interest before returning to the club rooms for afternoon tea. So please come along and bring a plate for afternoon tea.
Planning for the Daffodil Day Rally is well underway, so keep 23 August free for another fun scatter run. September’s club night is the Shiny Parts Auction so start putting some shiny things aside for the night as well as some cash for the night as there are always great bargains to be had.

This year we are having a ‘Scatter Run’, the aim is to find and answer clues from all over Wanganui and the vehicle that gets the greatest number of points wins. You will have 2 hours to drive around answering questions
