Tuesday 1.30pm meet at club rooms. 24th 25th SC Commercial Rally, Timaru November 14th Oamaru swap meet 21st T Pot rally. Details to follow. 28th Christmas dinner. Chairman' report Chairman’s report October 2026. There was a good turnout for our September meeting, nearly a third of our members. The year is certainly marching on, and the calendar of events is quite full, so get those vehicles out and enjoy the warmer weather. And with the Daffodil Day fundraising all tidied up, our total of just over $2000, up about 85% from last year, has been a magnificent effort by all those involved. Special thanks to our well organised co Ordinator’s Don and Maureen and the awesome support from our national co Ordinator Kaaren Smylie, very well done. An interesting aspect of the Daffodil Day car program is how all the different car clubs join in together for this event. Thanks to Rebecca George, our new regional representative, for coming up from Oamaru to report on the VCC AGM. The proposed membership sub certainly generated some robust discussion, and I would urge everyone to have a look at the budget and the proposals, please get your opinion known for the next meeting, on the 15th of October. Wednesday meetings are going well so please, if you can, swing by for a cup of coffee, these mornings are a great way to introduce prospective new members to the club. Perhaps we can look at opening the clubrooms for a couple of hours on a Sunday afternoon during the summer months, let me know your thoughts.

Minutes from September 2026 VCC Waimate meeting. The September meeting opened at 7:30 pm Apologies; Lorraine, Barry, Suzanne and Robert Moved that the apologies be accepted, Lindsay, seconded Owen, carried. Minutes of the August meeting circulated by the last newsletter. Moved that the minutes be accepted, Tony, seconded by Bill, carried. Matters arising, nil. Correspondence, Inwards, Entry forms available from South Canterbury branch for a veteran, vintage and commercial rally to be held 24th and 25th October. New owners of the Waimate timber and hardware store approved our account. Insurance certificate for public liability from Vero. Expressions of interest sought for a VIC and DOMAS training seminar to be held in Dunedin on the 15th of October. Outwards, Thank you letters regarding contributions to the Cancer Society fundraising sent to Geoff Wallace, Jaimee Marquet, Nick Hutchenson and the local New World supermarket owners. Moved that the correspondence be accepted, Steve, seconded Lyndsay, carried. Financial Report, The report by Robert Todd was read and tabled. Moved that the report be accepted and accounts paid, Owen, seconded Tony, carried. Chairman’s report, Wayne spoke about how busy and full on the last 6 weeks have been, how well it all went and thanked everyone involved. Coming up on the 26th is the Waimate Custom and Classic Car Club’s poker run, and they will be utilising the clubrooms for the event. Parts Department Report, Bill reported that the parts department had had a busy month with parts “flying out the gate” Hall Convenor, Nil to report. General business, October newsletter 2026

Approval paperwork for new member, Noel Frew, sent to administration. Proposed scooter run to Omarama next April discussed. Planning for the17th. Owen gave a proposal report. Wayne spoke about the Teapot Rally, proposing mid-November, the date to be settled after discussion with the North Otago branch. There was some discussion as to the Christmas dinner, Wayne to look at some options. Peter gave a report on the Swap meet. Wayne is to organise the purchase of the new switch board overload relays. Discussion for Christmas run and lunch, Wayne is to look into options. Bill passed on the clubman’s trophy to Steve for his efforts in the last couple of months. The national office will be contacting members regarding updating vehicle records. Rebecca George, the new central South Island representee on the VCC NZ management committee, gave a report on the AGM. There needs to be discussion on the proposed membership increase of $30 for main members and $10 for secondary members. Our vote results need to be sent to Rebecca on the 15th October. Maureen spoke about getting members to do a short bio on themselves that she can post in the newsletter. Steve to be the first.

Hi everyone As requested a bit of info about myself . i shifted to Waimate about 18 years ago. I have aways been interested in vehicles, mainly FORDS, mainly because I have always had a good run out of them. Over the years I have had a lot, too many to mention, my first was a mk1 Ford Consul which I had for about 8 years then I just moved on from there. I have six in the stables at the moment (that could change) plus a couple of motor bikes (suzuki b`120) 1979 models. The older cars I own are a 1954 mk1 Consul (work in progress) 1956 100e Prefect 1959 300e Thames mk1 Ford Escort Estate All driveable with rego The Thames VAN came into my stable about 6 years ago. I brought it from Balclutha in a complete but sorry state, luckily I can do all the work myself, certainly not perfect but presentable. I still get a lot of great comments. So no matter what you own just get out there and enjoy driving our history. yours in motoring STEVE

NATIONAL SUB INCREASE PLUS THE FINANCIAL REPORT FROM NATIONAL VCC. This is about the proposed sub increase of up to of $40.00 for the coming year. Could we include this email, and the budget pdf, in the newsletter, to explain a bit about the proposed membership fee increase? It affects everyone. (FROM WAYNE) Good morning We have received some queries from branches for a more detailed budget for the financial year 1 April 2026-31 March 2027 to enable branches to better consider the National Subscription Proposed Fee Increase that will be voted on under the weighted voting system at the first in person National Committee meeting on 17th October. The 2026.2027 budget for the National Club is attached for your reference. This is the column in green. It is important to note that last year the National Club had an Operating Deficit of $51,850, as shown in the orange column. It was only due to the one-off capital gain on sale of land and buildings that the Club made a Net Surplus. Please note that the YTD figures are not complete as the August financials are still being finalised. Should you have any queries please don’t hesitate to contact me.
