Thanks to all those who came to the May meeting and AGM , we managed to get a good turnout of 20 members. This number represents about one third of our branch membership. If anyone would like to be picked up, to attend future meetings, please give me a call.
The first item for the meeting was the acceptance of the yearly financial report, thanks to Robert for putting this together and his continuing service in the role of treasurer.
Monthly meeting topics discussed were;
The three gorges run, to be limited to club members, to minimise any liability, an unfortunate sign of the times.
Storage fees, to stay at the current amounts. $5 weekly for club members and $10 weekly for nonmembers. This is a good source of steady income for the club and perhaps we should be looking at filling more of the available space.
The meeting finished at about 7:50 with a short break before the Annual General Meeting started at 8:15
The nomination and voting process, for elected officers of the club progressed smoothly with a new chairman, myself, replacing Owen. Thank you, Owen, for your contribution over the last 4 years as chairman and for standing as vice chairman for this term.
Thanks go out to all the members that chose to continue in their respective positions.
We welcome Tony to the committee. Thank you, Suzanne, for your effort and dedication to ensure the smooth running of the clubrooms, over the last few years .
Congratulations to Keith Blackman for being voted in, as I believe, the Waimate VCC’s first Life member, well deserved.
As well as being vice chairman Owen will be in a new position as welfare officer, this position is to keep in contact with any members that may be experiencing health issues.
If you need a WVCC name tag, let Barry or me know so we can get one made for you.
With the cooler weather comes the swap meeting season, unfortunately the Ashburton VCC event was cancelled due to flooding . The Waimate swap meet consistently attracts significant support, and we look forward to this event on the first weekend of September.
The garage raid will be another great event to look forward to, on the 2nd of August
Please support the parts shed open morning on the last Wednesday of the month, drop in and have a cup of tea, then, if you can, join in the mid week run.
One hundred years ago, 1925, the world land speed record was set by Sir Malcolm Campbell, driving the Sunbeam Bluebird at a speed of 150.76 miles per hour. The record was achieved at Pendine Sands in Wales. Regards,
Wayne Hullen
