A big thanks to Barry and Owen for organising the weekend away to Highlands Motor sport park in Cromwell. We had a fantastic cruise down on Saturday and back Sunday afternoon. We enjoyed a very nice meal at the Cromwell Town and Country club. The laps around the racetrack were a real treat and the breakfast was delicious. Highlands is a world class operation and the morning there ran like clockwork.
McLeans Island swap meeting was, as usual, a well-supported event. I was only there for Friday, and one day was hardly enough time for a thorough look around. There was an interesting range of goods for sale, something for everyone, and well worth the trip to Christchurch.
We were fortunate to have a guest speaker at our monthly meeting, Robert brought along a professional deep-sea diver to share his experiences in this occupation. Tommy gave a fascinating talk on life at sea as a saturation diver, living in a pressurised environment, for up to 4 weeks at a time, and working on an oil rigs underwater equipment. It was an insight into another world of highly technical, professional, and high-risk work. Thanks Tommy.
The Christmas party is coming up, on the 29th of November, so come along and enjoy a trip to the Cave pub. Can we have all the numbers of those attending in by next meeting please?
The first Toyota passenger car was the 1936 model AA. In typical Japanese fashion at the time, much of the engineering was cloned from Western technology, which in this case was from Chevrolet and Desoto, and in-particular the Airflow model. Only one remains
Enjoy the long weekend.
Cheers, Wayne .

TEAPOT RALLY 2025
A successful Teapot Rally with North Otago VCC was held on the 25th October.
We meet up between the twin bridges for lunch with one motorbike rider( name with held) as a matter of fact the only bike rider having a few stops on the way to Kurow
After Lunch we followed a route around the back roads of Oamaru set by North Otago to their club rooms .
With a few questions answered the Rally winner was Ross Brown from Waimate who now has the task of setting the 2026 Rally
