Chairman’s Chatter
Hello folks
This month at our Noggin and Natter club night we will be holding our AGM at 8.00 pm.
And we look forward to your attendance as we need a quorum to hold this important AGM meeting.
It is hard to believe that another year has passed by since our last AGM
You would have all received the financial statements from our Secretary/Treasurer Rob Thomson
You would have all received also my annual Chairman’s report for the AGM. These reports have been sent to you by email and there will be a few copies available on the night.
I look forward to a good attendance as this is an important meeting that is held each year not only to report to the members but to elect our club officials to run our club for the next 12 months
We have had a very successful Maunga Moana rally held on 9 May and the official results are published in this newsletter
See you all at the AGM and I would like again to take this opportunity to thank the current committee for their dedication and support over the last year

Editors report
Hello folks, here we are on the eve of another annual general meeting. As Chaiman Colin says in his report we need a good turnout for this week’s meeting so hope to see you there.
After participating in our Maunga Moana Rally last weekend, I would like to thank the team that put on an event that reflected great credit on the Branch, well done them.
I would like to thank also those of you who have contributed to the content in our monthly magazine. It is not always easy to formulate a magazine with something of interest for everyone, but any news is better than no news at all.
Looking forward to keeping you up to date with happenings on the local and countrywide car club scene in the coming year.

End of Year Club Captain’s Report
It is my pleasure, as Club Captain, to present this end-of-year report for the Taranaki Vintage Car Club. Looking back over the past twelve months, I am pleased to say it has been a successful and enjoyable year for the club. In my role, organising and coordinating many of our club runs and activities, I’ve had the privilege of seeing firsthand what a successful and enjoyable year it has been. We have continued to celebrate our shared passion for vintage and classic motoring while strengthening the friendships and camaraderie that make our club so special.
Throughout the year, we have enjoyed a full and varied programme of runs, events, and club evenings. We got underway early with the gymkhana in January, which provided a great start to the year and plenty of fun for those involved. Our Rest Home visits in March and again in August were particularly rewarding, giving us the opportunity to share our vehicles with others in the community who really appreciate seeing them. The Breakfast Run in April was another popular event, bringing members together for an early start and a good social outing. Mid-year, the Brick Run in July was another successful event, drawing a good turnout of vehicles and members. Later in the year, the Garden Run in November and our trip to Tatatm provided excellent opportunities to get out on the road and enjoy both the vehicles and the company.
The Christmas Parades held across Taranaki were a real highlight, showcasing our vehicles to the wider public and generating a lot of positive interest in the club. These were followed by the Christmas Run in December, which brought the year to a fitting and enjoyable close. Another notable event during the year was the run hosted by Ford Motor Company in support of the New Zealand Cancer Society, which was a great occasion and a worthwhile cause that members were proud to be part of.
In addition to our runs, we also had an excellent range of guest speakers throughout the year, which added variety and interest to our club nights. We heard from Josh Hickford with an informative talk on the Taranaki Foundation, Rob Needs who spoke about Taranaki Maunga, Mike Davy with insights into Ravensdown Fertilisers, Steve Mauri covering oil and gas exploration in Taranaki, and Josh Thompson discussing aspects of 24/7 security. These talks were well received and added greatly to the overall club programme.
As Club Captain, it has been particularly pleasing to see the strong turnout and enthusiasm from members at both runs and meetings. The willingness of members to participate, support events, and assist when needed makes organising these activities both enjoyable and rewarding.
One of the real strengths of our club continues to be its members. The camaraderie, willingness to help, and pride taken in vehicles all contribute to a thriving and welcoming club. Every run and event not only allows us to enjoy our vehicles but also helps preserve and promote our motoring heritage within the wider community.
I would like to sincerely thank our committee, and all members who have contributed their time and energy throughout the year. The success of the club does not happen by accident; it comes from the dedication and goodwill of many people working together. Your efforts are very much appreciated and are the reason the club continues to go from strength to strength.
As we look ahead to the coming year, I am confident we can build on this success with another strong programme of runs and events. I look forward to continuing to organise enjoyable outings and seeing many of you out on the road again. Thank you all for your support, and I wish everyone safe and happy motoring in the year ahead.
Please don’t forget we have the End of Rego run on the 28th of June coming up and we only have eighteen places left so if you would like to come, please let me know as soon as possible. We still have three club sashes left at $15.00 each.

Alive and Ainsley, daughters of Bryan, have asked the following message be shared with Branch Members following their Dad’s passing.
Bryan Morris’ family would like to send the club heartfelt thanks for both the guard of honour at dad’s funeral, the assistance with the Bedford (special thanks to Rob Thomson) and the amazing words from Graeme Kempton.
Graeme, your summary of the day has provided us with comfort and perspective that although it didn’t go to plan, very really does a well-planned rally!! And you are right, even dad would have agreed that overall, it was a good mid-week run!
Dad loved his long involvement with the VCC, and his connection with both local club members and the wider motoring groups. Our conversations often included something to do with club matters, or what he had been able to fix (or not) with his vehicles. Not having those weekly calls now is a huge gap in our lives that will take filling.
Just as a footnote: the Vauxhall Ute started first time when the boys went to collect it, and I got the Bedford into reverse first go when putting it back to bed in the shed that night! They, like us, were not ready for dad's departure.

BREAKFAST RUN
SUNDAY, 12 APRIL2026
Although the weather held no appeal, twenty plus enthusiastic folk met at the Inglewood Railway Station for this year’s Breakfast Run, organised by the happy duo of Julie and Brian Evans [Club Captain]. The route of about 40 km took us about several streets within the metropolis of Inglewood, then down the Hursthouse Road, up the Upland Road, on to Kaimiro, down the Alfred and back to Egmont Village and Breakfast, On route, with the sky falling in, we had to observe various signs of all shapes and sizes, record them in the numerical order as were passed, and all the while as we motored this route it would have been a handy idea, we to find out a bit later, to have taken a tally of the one-way bridges crossed. Breakfast, and a hearty one it was, and time for a result. Wo! A tie breaker between the Fabish and Johnston crew. Although both ‘teams’ missed a sign each, those we did observe were recorded in the correct sequence. Not to leave any result in doubt, Club Captain Brian, or was it Julie, in their wisdom, confronted the tie breakers with two questions. What was the length of the run? 40 km
How many one-way bridges did we cross? 6. Neither of us got the distance correct, a bit out we were, but the bridge count was the decider. This would be a breeze, so I thought, as both Kevin and I drove milk tankers in this area in a previous life. Kevin and Christine registered a number I dare not disclose, while the best I could do was 5. That was enough to determine a winner.
