Chairmans Chatter for Topical Torque

The Winter season has certainly set in now with all this rain and windy condition's especially over the weekends has made for not very nice driving conditions in our vehicles. Also, with all this influenza around I hope everyone is keeping safe and warm. Things are gearing up for the big Motor show for cancer that we are supporting in conjunction with Energy Ford New Plymouth who are going to make their new car sales area available for our vehicles to be displayed. This area will take up to around 70 to 80 vehicles and is in central New Plymouth facing Courtenay and Gover streets. We will also have some of our vehicles especially Fords on show in their showrooms. John Muter is the contact or me and we need to know if you are willing to be part of this promotion so we know how many members will be participating and how many members of other car clubs will be able to come as well. This will be held on the 24th of August to be part of the VCC National Day with hundreds of vehicles on the road or on display to raise money for our local Cancer Soc.

Energy Ford New Plymouth are fully backing this Motor Show and are very willing to help us make this a very successful event and will also provide a sausage sizzle to help raise funds. Please support this Motor Show as this will also promote our movement and we could gain some new members.

The Membership list that the committee have been working on is now all ready and set to go to the printers for printing and members will have a copy as soon as they are available.

The new security system that has been installed at the club rooms is now all set and ready to become operational with all key holders given a security number.

It is very important for members to vote for the notice of motion that you would have all received from the National Executive on the back page of the 2024 - 2025 Annual Report. If you could vote and post the voting papers back asap or bring them along to our July Noggin and Natter and we will collate them together and post them back in one hit. Let’s get our branch up near the top of branches for voting participation. If you require any explanation on the importance of this vote, please contact the Branch Delegate Rob Thomson or me

The Rubber Duckie Motorcycle Rally this year is being organized by Peter and Lynda Hutton and will be held in September. We look forward to this popular event being held again.

Welcome to new members Leo Friedlich with a 1959 Vaxhall PA and Malcolm Carswell with a 1934 Chev Roadster. We hope to see you at our Club night and events. So keep the Passion........... Remember the Motor Show for Cancer......... Stay safe on the roads........... Keep the Passion. Cheers

Chairman Colin.

Club Captains Report

Hi All,

Hope everyone is staying warm and dry this winter!

Last month's run up to the mountain house was a great success — a fantastic day out, the weather was superb with the mountain prominent in the background with minimal cloud and the sun shining through. There was a good selection of food enjoyed by all. Tha nks to everyone who came along and enjoyed the day.

Upcoming Event – The Brick Run

Our next event is the Brick Run, which will start from Stratford and finish back at the clubrooms for a shared lunch. Please bring a plate to share — it’s always a highlight of the day. Starting time and departure point will be confirmed soon. It promises to be another enjoyable outing, and we look forward to seeing you all there!

Note: Due to a lack of interest, we won’t be holding the Children’s. However, we’re working on an alternative event and will keep you posted.

July Guest Speaker

This month, we welcome Steve Mauri as our guest speaker. He’ll be sharing insights into oil and gas discovery and production in Taranaki — a topic that should be of interest to many of us. Don’t miss it!

Please feel free to bring friends and family who may be interested in the topic.

Upcoming Events

• 27th July – The Brick Run

• 24th August – Daffodil Day Motor Show

Proudly supported by Ford Motor Company — further details to follow.

As always, keep your ideas and suggestions coming — we love hearing from you.

Warm regards,

Brian

Rotorua Branch's Sulphur City Rally 2025

30 AUGUST

There is no formal dinner planned for this year’s event, but we will arrange an informal dinner gathering on the Saturday night at Rotorua’s “Eat Street”. The informal dinner at least year’s event was well attended and enjoyable. The rally will travel on country roads around the Bay of Plenty, with a long morning run and short non -competitive afternoon run.

Regards, David Tomlinson Rotorua Branch

(If anyone would like an entry form contact Jim Logan)

Daffodil Rally for Cancer – 24 AUGUST.

This year your Branch will be working with Energy City Ford, Courtenay Street, to hold a motor show, raising funds for Taranaki Cancer Society.

As their car sale area will only hold 60 vehicles, we will be unable to invite other car clubs as we have for past shows

I am sure we can display enough vehicles from our Branch and would like as many of our members as possible to support this important fundraiser for a worthwhile cause. The cars will be on display from 10am to 2 pm, Cars can be parked from 9am. There will be a sausage sizzle, run by some of their staff but a helping hand from our members would be appreciated.

The Cancer Society will also be onsite and will have their volunteers’ collecting donations. The committee decided that a donation of $5 per vehicle will be appropriate. Please support this most important event with as many cars as possible. Nobody knows when, where or who cancer could strike. John Muter
